New data shows temperatures above 86F
begins a precipitous decline of EV performance

Okay, so let me get this straight regarding the “quirks” of electric vehicles. If you’re fleeing a natural disaster, like a hurricane for instance, the nature of the design might impede efficient and safe evacuation; or they might simply explode, because exposure to salt water can link the positive and negative battery terminals, causing a short circuit. Well, if they’re just sitting there too I guess, there’s still a heightened risk of spontaneous explosion with a long-burning, extra-hot, inextinguishable fire. They don’t really work in “cold” weather, and now, according to new data, “excessive heat can greatly diminish electric vehicle range” too?

Comments:

OOPs. The EV company says that batteries only really work between 59F and 86F. And there are serious risks of excessive heat. Gee, could it be that they might get REALLY hot? Like catch fire?

Car lovers don't hate me..... I don't see EV's any different than a sports car or classic car They are you pride and joy ,driving them gives you great pleasure... They are a niche market vehicle. That 56 MGA is beautiful and is a dream to drive but if it breaks down parts aren't always accessable. It won't go well in the snow, no A/C, poor heat, not practical for carrying goods. The battery technology lags behind the other car technologies. Ranges of 300 miles quickly drop to @ 100 miles when it's below 30 degrees. If you live in the Northeast it can be even less... Battery performance drops 40 percent, add heaters, wipers, headlights ,etc.... That F150 used for towing your camper will leave you very disappointed.... All that bening said if you love your EV rock on and enjoy...

They work fine in hot and cold, I'm told. Just don't burn battery by running your air conditioner or heater.

EVs only work if you have the money. Most people don't. Watch transportation become a luxury instead of a necessity. That's the way the left works. They want dependency. They want control.

I have no problem with having EVs available for anyone who wants to buy them. They offer lots of advantages for short-distance urban usage in areas with a mild climate and flat terrain. But I have a real problem with forcing people to buy them. Over the last year I've made a point to rent EVs on my various trips around the country to see what the reality is regarding their performance. As an overall appraisal I can confidently state that their asserted range figures are completely deceptive if not outright fraudulent, by as much as 50% depending on a host of factors! Normal freeway speeds (70MPh), heat, cold, hills, radio, air conditioning, etc., all degrade your maximum range. Even worse, I could not find any "supercharger" stations that would allow me to charge to more than 80% capacity (even as few of them as there are in the first place). How long before somebody files a suit for fraud? And I'm not even "anti-EV" since I believe that hybrids are a terrific solution that optimizes the best of both designs.

8, change the max power setting in the car configuration screen. 80% is the default max. You can move a slider to make it 100. Superchargers do not limit your power. Your car computer setting does. I understand why no one wants to be forced to drive any particular vehicle but all this stuff about EVs blowing up and getting 100 miles and so on is nonsense. I've had a model 3 for 4 years. I'm still alive. It hasn't caught fire. It performs almost as well as my sports car and handles as well as my previous generation sports car. It gets pretty much what it says it will get on the display. I live in Florida. We had 100 degree heat yesterday and it worked perfectly and got the calculated mileage it should, with the AC on full, the internet radio and gps on and etc. Hate the EV-only policy and the people pushing it but there's nothing wrong with the car for short to mid range driving. Talking nonsense only makes people saying this stuff look ignorant and foolish.

The government push to get us out of our dependable and inexpensive internal combustion engine cars and into unreliable and expensive EVs makes sense if the goal is to force all Americans into mass transit. The Left has never made a secret of their desire to see the end of individual ownership of means of transport. When gas-powered cars are regulated out of existence by executive fiat and it becomes apparent that EVs are not viable (except in Hawaii, where the temps stay in the required 59 to 86 range) we will have to choose between walking or taking the bus.

Had a get-acquainted session with our new building director last week. Personable guy, has worked in various industries, originally from Brazil. My antennae went up during his talk when he spoke of his last job at a piston ring plant in Wisconsin. "...that is a dying business....EVs are taking over...." The hard left actually believes it reflects the opinions of all Democrats and indeed all liberals. This is simply not true. The hard left is in conflict with the majority of Americans, left, right or center. Does Mayor Adams of NYC agree with the border policy of the present administration? Does anyone living in the areas distressed by their policies? The hard left is a tiny minority, yet it yields amazing power, in the media, government, the courts, business, bureaucracies, and politics. These self-proclaimed "elites" (hard left) are largely in control of what we see and hear. Yes, they even call themselves "elite."

One of the things characterizing the Biden administration is incoherence. Biden is frequently completely unintelligible, mumbling sounds to himself and his audience. Kamala offers wordy, banal phrases that fail to hide that her premise, conclusion, and argument are all identical. And Karine Jean-Pierre, despite having her eyes glued to her notes most of the time, is the Sergeant Schultz of press secretaries, for she knows nothing most of the time. It’s hardly surprising, therefore, to learn that the Biden White House has purged over 30% of the people allowed press passes…none of whom belong to the major MSM outlets.

The Chevron doctrine is a rule adopted by the Supreme Court in 1984.
