From Canada comes this ridiculous story about an academic grant to study pre-scientific methods of preventing cancer. One could say that the only important thing in this story is the dollar figure: $1.2 million. Academic institutions exist in large part as slush funds to funnel cash into the hands of liberal constituencies. I am pretty sure that any humor in what follows is unintentional.

Comments:

Nowhere does the researcher notice that indiginous people only lived to age 30 or so. Cancer was the least of their problems. But "colonialism" allows people to live long enough to get cancer. Still, to him, colonialists = bad.

The study will dissolve the minute someone discovers God in it. However, if the god discovered is a pagan god, it will continue.

That’s how the Democrats in the USA hand out a lot of taxpayers money that ends up in the pockets of Democrat supporters. The big issue the Democrats are using now is so-called “climate change” as the catalyst to pass a lot of taxpayer’s money to their supporters.

Archeologist friend from Grad School did his dissertation on six Nations tribes, burial practices, and health. He said the tribes he studied were really sick, died young. And that research was done back in the 1970s.

The Centers for Disease Control is once again involving itself in an aspect of American life which is absolutely none of its business. We have watched as the CDC inserted itself in everything from the eviction moratorium to the Superbowl. Now they want to control your language. They just released an exhaustive list of words you shouldn’t use, in the name of health equity, whatever that is. Topics include drug abuse, healthcare, homelessness, economic status, immigration, race, sexual orientation, and more.

Communications from top leadership at the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) shows them instructing active duty and retired service members that they are forbidden from criticizing Joe Biden for his utter incompetence that led to the crisis in Afghanistan. In an email that was uncovered by the Daily Wire, the Naval Intelligence Chief of staff, Captain Scott Chesbrough, gave current and former members of the Navy a reminder to follow the uniform code that prohibits them from disrespecting senior government leadership, especially if it comes to feeble Ol’-Joe.

Considering how much I hate receiving parking tickets, this is one war on standards I might get behind. However, it also extends to compliance with driving, vehicle registration, and fine-paying requirements. The Washington Post assigned a team to investigate ticketing in Washington, D.C. The team collected five years of traffic and parking enforcement data containing more than 10 million records of infractions. It then merged that information with data from the Census Bureau to analyze enforcement records by area of the city.

Two months ago, the New York Times and CNN raised warning flags on the environmental costs of transitioning to electric cars. Last week, the Los Angeles Times followed suit, although in this case it’s the California dog that doesn’t bark that should be of greatest interest to that question. Even without the obvious questions about energy for recharging, however, the LAT raises a series of environmental issues with the necessary mining to sustain production of EVs.

Cooper said, “Fifty-seven percent of those eligible are fully vaccinated in the United States. Now given those percentages and the vigor of the Delta variant, what more does the administration need to be doing right now?” (snip) It’s going to take getting very aggressive about particularly younger people.

Possibly the dumbest thing any country could do from an energy standpoint is to promote widespread use of electric vehicles, while simultaneously mandating reliance on wind and solar energy, which work less than half the time. Moreover, governments’ politically-motivated reliance on electric vehicles like buses has been a disaster. This is a typical “green” fiasco: More than two dozen electric Proterra buses first unveiled by the city of Philadelphia in 2016 are already out of operation, according to a WHYY investigation.

A majority of marriages in Britain’s Pakistani community being between first cousins is wreaking a terrible toll on public health, with stillbirths, birth defects, and disabilities far higher than they would otherwise be. In an article published by the Daily Mail, journalist Sue Reid described how an estimated 55 per cent of Pakistani-heritage couples are first cousins in so-called consanguineous marriages. Not coincidentally, British Pakistanis account for an astonishing 33 per cent of birth defects in the country....
