As RedState reported, a Sikh convenience store owner turned the tables on a shoplifter as he attempted to get away with thousands of dollars of stolen merchandise.
The viral scene unfolded in California, showing a man shoveling entire shelves worth of tobacco and other products into a trash can while taunting the owner with proclamations that “there’s nothing you can do.” The shoplifter quickly learned that wasn’t true, though, as he was tackled to the ground and beaten with a rod. Apparently, while many California cities have no desire to actually enforce the laws against people who steal from business owners and put them in financial peril,

The beating was just the first step in a citizen's arrest. What is the problem?

The robber threatened the owner while he was filling the trash can with tobacco products. The owner can rightly claim that he continued to strike the bastid because he feared that he would be attacked if he stopped. A good lawyer would be able to argue this and win. But he should not have to because the owner should not be charged.

The perp told them multiple times he had a gun and would shoot them...rendering him incapable of actually doing so IS self defense. If Tazers were not banned in Calif, they could have/might have tazed him(just like a cop would) if handguns were not banned from store owners they might have SHOT him(just like a cop would). They took the steps a "Reasonable person in that situation" might take to render the situation "Safe" for themselves and the public nearby.(just like a cop would).
I will hazard a guess that the store owners have clean records...perp is well "Known to police", with a lengthy rap sheet.

What? Did the store owner forget to take his State of California store owner training on the proper use of force and when it becomes excessive?
What do you mean the California doesn't require this? This man is a Sikh. He has both cultural and religious differences with the State of California about these things and California offered him NO proper training?!
That's grounds for dismissal of the charges right there. He should sue California for being culturally insensitive.

If the law won;t protect people then citizens have no other choice. A few dead thugs may help.

IIRC Sihk men carry knives in their cummerbunds. This crook is just lucky they didn't use that instead of the broomstick.

Can I be on the jury?
Not guilty.
Local government will pay for merchandise, defendant's legal fees, and any (real or imaginary) damages.

Perp was robbing the state and federal govt of their required tobacco taxes(which are a controlled substance)...NOT just stealing some smokes. PLUS...he had enough to exceed the "Possession for personal use" exemption, denoting his status as a "Dealer in controlled substances" caught red handed, on video violating local, state and federal crimes...as well as making "Terroristic Threats". Felonies all...including Federal Felonies. Sihks are a much smaller minority than Blacks...ergo...perp loses the "marginalized persons" lottery, and is in fact a member of a Privileged Majority in that area.

As soon as the communist state of Kalifornia figures out that Sikhs are often dark skinned, this will be quietly dropped.
It might help if he learns to say "He be disrespectin me!"

Given the current state of our pathetic law enforcement system, I suspect that vigilante justice is about to make one hell of a comeback.

Re #7. Yes, it is my understanding that Sikh men are required to be "armed", but for many this is covered by a tiny "knife" worn on a necklace, with a blade a fraction of an inch long. Since being "armed" is illegal in most big Dem-run cities, their religious duty and the laws conflict, so this is how some have compromised....which is actually giving in.
So, in California, I doubt that most Sikhs are actually armed, which is unfortunate. We'd probably all be safer if they were armed with guns.

That is what every American would have done 10 years ago. How are we being served by politicians and law enforcement who give the thieves preferential treatment over their victims?????

The makers of self-defense videos in CA must have disclaimers saying the techniques used in the video are for them to defend themselves in prison, where they'll go if they try to defend themselves in the real world. (Earthly efforts to balance justice and mercy always seem to exacerbate our problems.)

I thought it was the most satisfying piece of video I have seen in a long time.
Sikh's are required to carry. for religious reason's, a small dagger called a Kirpan on their person at all times. Most of the time the dagger has a blunt edge, but it doesn't have to be. Because it is required by their religion, Sikh's may carry the concealed blade anywhere. Maybe the next thief should put more thought into from whom they are stealing? This guy was easy on him.

The CA politicians will charge him and make him spend thousands in lawyer fees before he is acquitted in 10 minutes by a jury of his peers.

I've watched the video a couple of times and I have no problem with how the store keeper took care of his problem customer.
