New York City is struggling to recruit more police officers after a mass amount of experienced officials retired, according to the New York Post. The New York Police Department’s (NYPD) March officer exam far underscored the amount of applicants the department expected, with 1,300 signing up to take the test compared to the 3,000 expected, sources told the NYP. This year’s second exam, which took place on Thursday, didn’t meet expectations, once again, despite incentives given by the NYPD. Comments:

Number of applicants is down sharply - even with waiving the fee, extending the deadline, etc... This will haunt NYC for years.

Now they can hold their nose and hire morons who shouldn't be any where near a badge. This has occurred many times in police hiring.

Who in their right mind would take that job? The city Administration does not back them, The Soros-bought Prosecuting Attorney will not prosecute the Perps and the Thugs, The Perps and Thugs are back on the street, laughing, before the cops have finished their paperwork, The Media constantly condemns them, Any mistake made in the process of arresting some Thug winds up with the Cop being persecuted and going to Prison. Again, WHO in their RIGHT MIND would do this job? I'm glad I live in a hidden gem in Flyover Country where the crime rate is pretty low, and the police -given that they're not perfect, and yes, someone messes up once in a while- are generally held in pretty high respect.

I live in the same sort of place, #3, and thank God every day that I do. Professional, well trained police department, fire department, good utility infrastructure and still a small town vibe. No real secret....just good city and county leadership and mostly decent people. We have some problems, of course, drugs....mainly meth pouring across Biden’s open borders. 99% of this country’s problems could be solved by kicking every Democrat out of office. In the meantime, I live about 80 miles from Atlanta but no longer go into the city. Used to be a great place to take in a show or eat in a nice restaurant. I no longer go anywhere I feel like I have to watch my back.

No way. I will never be a cop again, and certainly not in the cageless zoo of New York. Even the most idealistic lose it after a few years. Then they wait out till retirement getting more and more bitter, cynical and angry.

Why apply for a job you'll be told you can't do, if hired? Why apply for a job where management declines to support you? No wonder applicant numbers are dwindling. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why.

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Penn., told Time Magazine in an interview Thursday that the lone debate he had with Dr. Oz before the midterm elections was the breaking point that "lit the match" on his depression. In a piece headlined, "How John Fetterman Came Out of the Darkness," Fetterman revealed to Time Magazine that it was the debate that accelerated his depression. Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in February after he was diagnosed with clinical depression. "The debate lit the mitch," he said twice before finally being able to correct himself, "Lit the match." Fetterman told

The US soldier who ran across the border into North Korea Tuesday was facing multiple assault allegations as well as a fine for damaging a police vehicle. Army Private 2nd Class Travis King, 23, was accused of punching a man several times in the face at a club on September 25 last year, Seoul court records indicate. Two weeks later, on October 8, Korean authorities responded to another dust-up involving King, who was allegedly displaying “aggressive behavior,” according to the court documents. When police put him in the backseat of the patrol car, King reportedly spouted expletives and insults aimed

WASHINGTON CROSSING, Pa. — A sudden flash flood swamped a southeastern Pennsylvania road, sweeping several cars away and claiming at least four lives. Three other people, including a 9-month-old boy and a 2-year-old girl, remained missing, authorities said. Officials in Bucks County’s Upper Makefield Township said torrential rains occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the Washington Crossing area. Other parts of the East Coast were experiencing heavy rain, including Vermont. Authorities there said landslides could become a problem on Sunday as the state copes with more rain following days of flooding. “My team and I continue to monitor the

The White House is touting its decision to buy air conditioners as a part of a plan to promote "equity and environmental justice" during a historic heat wave that it attributes to climate change. A Tuesday memo from the Biden administration said that heat wave included record-high daily high temperatures in several areas of the country. The plan cited its $3.85 billion Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program that it said helped lower cooling costs and will provide air conditioning units for low-income households for over 6 million households.
