A worker earning $650,000 in Manhattan would have saved more than $250,000 per year by moving to Austin, Texas, due to lower taxes and cost of living, a new study finds.
Six-figure earners can save more than 40 percent of their salary and shave up to 10 percentage points off their effective tax rate by making the move, according to research from SmartAsset published on Thursday.
The study compared cost savings for high earners moving from either Chicago, San Francisco, or New York to Austin, and found that the savings were the greatest for New Yorkers.

Yeah. One of the things the Kalifornians did to screw up NM was to sell their houses in CA for absurdly high prices, then come to NM and outbid the locals on houses. Priced these poor people right out of their own market. THEN they voted democrat and messed up the local government.

They lie. All you rich NYC liberals stay there. There are no 24 hr deli in Austin. Your AC bill alone will eat up the tax savings. And you have to drive everywhere.

Oh yes, that has happened in Hill Country and parts of TX Panhandle, #2. It happened in Oregon and WA back in the 90’s.

Ahh yes, except that there are no similar paying jobs in Austin! That's a one time deal for them. They just spent their wad, and by the way, the property taxes here are not friendly.

Assuming that they make the same money in Austin as they did in NYC. Unlikely.

It happened to Colorado also. The Kalifornian crowds came in after selling their homes for enormous amounts, bought up our reasonably priced houses, outbidding the locals, and pocketed their balance. Fat times for them. They also brought their politics with them. Look at Colorado now. The state was once red as red could be, now it is nearly complete as blue. It is a mess.

The upside to that is that the state of New York is learning a harsh and painful lesson from the loss of that tax money caused by their own stupidity. Cuomo, Hochul and other "leaders" were at the center of the destruction and will never recover from it.

The Austin Police Association president was on the Degan and Duffy show (Fox business) yesterday. And he said that the city council has been supporting defunding police, etc and that in the last local election, only 11% of registered voters actually voted. So you can probably blame these NewYorkers etc but also blame the people who have been living there for years on not even making the effort to vote.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s this; regardless their amount of education, democrats are ridiculously stupid. They can’t call a spade a spade even if it’s ruining them. They’ll toe the party line out of selfish pride rather than admit they’re wrong and proceed down the right path to fix things. Stupid.

So, they moved from one left wing sewer to another. Enjoy all that extra cash while you’re dodging the homeless and the feces on the sidewalks.

Texas ought to publicize that 80% or more of them fled Austin due to scorpions, Indian attacks and lack or water. If they let them immigrate they'll be infected by commie-crats.
