The evidence released by the House Ways and Means Committee today is quite astonishing in detail. In any normal political world, the transcripts, testimony and statements that were released today would destroy the top-tiers of any administration, including the President.
The evidence provided by direct testimony and through transcripts, emails and documents that support the testimony is comprehensive in scope. The White House and DOJ claimed that US Attorney David Weiss was able to conduct his investigation of Hunter Biden however he needed, but consider this revelation of how much Main Justice intervened to protect Hunter Biden:

Washington— Attorney General Merrick Garland pushed back Friday against claims from IRS whistleblowers that the Justice Department interfered with the investigation into Hunter Biden, saying more broadly that attacks on the department’s independence are corrosive.
The Republican-led House Ways and Means Committee on Thursday released a transcript of testimony from Gary Shapley, an IRS official who, among other things, claimed that Garland had denied a request from U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware to be appointed special counsel. That designation would have would have given Weiss the same status as the prosecutor leading the investigation into former President Donald Trump.
Weiss never made such a request, Garland said Friday,

He was designated a “high profile” prisoner and placed in solitary confinement for 96 days which proved difficult for him mentally and required medical intervention.

The Director of National Intelligence on Friday released to Congress their long-awaited report into Intelligence Community conclusions about the origins of COVID-19, and their assessment of the 'lab leak' theory.
In March, President Joe Biden signed into law a bill to declassify intelligence on the origins of COVID-19.
The DNI's 10-page report did not provide any fresh conclusions as to the Wuhan lab, and shows the various agencies are divided as to the origin of the pandemic. The Department of Energy, which oversees biological research labs in the U.S., concluded with 'low confidence' in February of this year that the virus most likely came from a lab in Wuhan.

I just can't get Paul Ryan's words out of my mind. Not his stirring and inspirational speech to the 2012 Republican Convention where he laid out his claim as the Gen X conservative leader we've been waiting for. Yes, it was inspirational to have someone of my generation rise to a national ticket and finally transcend the disastrous Boomers who'd been leading our country down a miserable path. That Paul Ryan was motivating. And he finally spoke for the issues that mattered to me, and he promised to represent those values on a national stage while fighting for the principles that we of the "Reagan Youth"

To tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions, of Americans, Clarence and Virginia Thomas are American heroes with a real-life Hollywood storyline. Justice Thomas is a living legend who has magnificently shattered the usual trajectory of people born in devastating circumstances, including an absent father, racism, and abject poverty.
Unlike for every other Supreme Court justice, the Constitution is Thomas’ unfailing judicial North Star. Even when it’s painfully unpopular in D.C., he does not flinch at faithfully applying the actual text of the Constitution to every case. Every time justices disagree about a case, Thomas is right and the others are wrong. He’s a moral and legal giant,

All roads lead to Hunter Biden.
That is, all roads paved with (alleged) extortion, bribery, money laundering, tax evasion, prostitution, drug abuse, and, most importantly, election rigging. The roads traversed by Internal Revenue Service agents-turned-whistleblowers — whose disclosures to the House Ways and Means Committee were released as transcripts on Thursday — are no exception.
The troubled Biden son has always been at the center of concerns about the 2020 election, in the form of the infamous “Hunter Biden laptop.”

It’s impossible to know what’s going on. Today Prigozhin, the chef, frontman for Wagner PMC, and aspiring politician, claimed that the Russian army attacked Wagner. The video he posted looks pretty unconvincing. His initial statements sound like a clear call for an armed coup. After the FSB opened a criminal case he sounds like he’s backtracking. However, the statements from the FSB sound like they’re taking this very seriously. At least two high ranking generals—including Surovikin, who’s in charge of the SMO—have issued “appeals” to the soldiers of Wagner.
I have no particular insight into Russian politics. I discount claims that this is a “psyop”

As PJM’s Paula Bolyard put it, “Who could have predicted that someone who immerses himself in sexual perversion could do something like this?” The answer is that no one on the Left could have predicted it, because Leftists remain determined to pretend, and demand that we pretend, that the transgender madness isn’t madness at all, and that those who are in the grip of these delusions and fantasies are perfectly normal and well-adjusted.

CNN’s Christiane Amanpour recently interviewed former President Barack Obama for an hour-long special that aired Thursday night that carried the pretentious subtitle Will Democracy Win? CNN was not subtle in trying to portray Republicans as a threat to democracy, beyond the subtitle, the opening narrator hyped the location of the interview, “An in depth conversation on the state of American democracy from the birthplace of democracy, Athens, Greece.”
Early on in the interview, Obama described U.S. institutions as “creaky” from the strain of allegedly anti-democratic sentiment. Amanpour took that idea and ran with it, “So, let's ask about the creaky or not institutions in the United States.

Washington — The Supreme Court on Friday cleared the way for the Biden administration to reinstate rules that instruct Immigration and Customs Enforcement to focus its deportation efforts in the U.S. interior on immigrants with serious criminal convictions and those deemed to threaten national security.
The court found that Texas and Louisiana, the two states that challenged the administration's guidelines, lacked standing to bring the suit, formally known as United States v. Texas. The ruling was 8-1, with only Justice Samuel Alito dissenting. Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote the opinion for the majority, joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Under normal circumstances, lively debate would be a sign of a healthy political system that has incorporated the idea of divided government and checks and balances as a practical remedy against dictatorship, totalitarianism, and similar forms of oppression against the common people. There are two kinds or problems. Those we know how to solve, like preventing hundreds from dying in overloaded people smuggling boats off Greece, and those we don’t, like rescuing people from a sub 13,000 feet below the Atlantic. Willingness is lacking in the former, technology in the latter. To some extent, the problems are apples and oranges. Solving the first requires enforcing basic law enforcement both of immigration policy and ship safety regulations and rescue, if necessary, involves mostly ordinary watercraft. Solving the second needs stuff we don’t ordinarily have like sonar, ROVs and advanced engineering — or may not have even invented.

One of the key takeaways from the recent midterm elections was that Republicans need to continue making gains in pre-Election Day voting. Despite what the mainstream media might say, Republicans did have an apparatus to encourage pre-Election Day voting and ballot harvesting last cycle and guess what – we were pretty good at it. In states like Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Montana, North Carolina and New Hampshire, Republicans had a higher ballot return rate than Democrats. Yes, you read that right. Even in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Republicans closed the ballot return rate gap within a 1-point margin.

It was clear from the beginning that charges of “collusion” between Donald Trump and Russia during the 2016 election were phony — a cheap, and illegal, political trick. But they did their damage. While Trump beat Hillary Clinton, there has since been a non-stop Democratic Party-led campaign to tar him as a “traitor” or worse.
And, as the recent testimony of Special Counsel John Durham to Congress shows, Clinton lay behind this scheme to defraud American voters and throw an election. So, today, despite powerful evidence of official wrongdoing, we’re back where we were some seven years ago.

Is this another sign that the Democrats are preparing to move on from Joe Biden in 2024? I don’t know, but CNN’s newfound willingness to fact-check Biden seems significant. Here, CNN finds that pretty much everything Biden says about firearms, among other things, is wrong:
He made at least five false claims related to guns, a subject on which he has repeatedly been inaccurate during his presidency. He also made a false claim about the extent of his support from environmental groups. And he used incorrect figures about the population of Africa, his own travel history and how much renewable energy Texas uses.
