Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor who has branded himself as the only Republican willing and able to take down former President Donald Trump, will enter the 2024 presidential race next week, according to reports. He has been expected to join the race and will formally make the announcement at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday during a town hall at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. The announcement was first reported by Axios and then confirmed by CNN. Christie joins a growing field of GOP presidential candidates, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, South Carolina congressman Rep. Tim Scott, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley and former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson.

welcome to USA Today, where the genius writers don't know that Scott is a senator, not a representative. It's incredible that someone who doesn't know that would be assigned to write about politics, and even more incredible that the editors didn't catch the error. And people pay to subscribe to this?

The only two who have a chance are Ron and Don. The also ran are looking at VP status. But there are SEVERAL that have nothing better to do than play pretend and I don't know why they waste their time and money. Asa and Chris could team up and together they would not get 1% of the primary vote. Why do they do this?

He didn't get that job likely because Kushner put the kibosh n it which was understandable. I wish this blob would just go away. One odd tidbit about Christie that has been forgotten is that he was quite popular and effective in his first term as NJ governor. He won a second term with over 60% of the votes but not long after that election his ambition went to his head and he started to frequently travel out of state on a futile quest to get onboard with Trump. NJ voters noticed this and soon his numbers fell badly while he paid little attention to NJ political affairs.

Bruce Springsteen had a moment that fans, bandmates and promoters dread when, during a concert in Amsterdam last Saturday (May 27), the rock legend had an on-stage fall. The accident happened mid-performance, as the 73-year-old artist returned from a stint in the pit and tripped up the stairs while carrying his electric guitar. Springsteen appeared to have a soft landing, as members of the E Street Band rushed over to check on him and help the Boss to his feet. “Goodnight everybody,” he yelled to the audience, as he gingerly made his way back to the center stage. Thankfully, it wasn’t the end of the show. The incident happened

"It's surreal," Shah said after being announced the champion. "I don't know if it's settled in. My legs are still shaking!" Prior to Shah's final turn at the mic, Walsh misspelled the word "daviely," making space for Shah to swoop in and take the victory.

Washington — The Senate on Thursday passed legislation to suspend the debt ceiling and limit federal spending, sending the bill to President Biden's desk to avoid a U.S. government default that would have caused economic chaos. The Senate adopted the bill, known as the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, by a bipartisan vote of 63 to 36. Both sides acknowledged that the deal negotiated by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Biden was far from perfect but necessary to avoid a disastrous default. "I look forward to signing this bill into law as soon as possible and addressing the American people directly tomorrow," Mr. Biden said

The ongoing controversy over Twitter’s censorship of The Daily Wire for alleged “misgendering” escalated on Thursday evening with the social media giant’s Head of Trust and Safety, Ella Irwin, resigning in the wake. That’s most likely because she and her department are the ones who made the decision to label tweets by Matt Walsh as violating Twitter’s “hateful conduct” policies. The result was a warning label being placed on the posts along with sharing disabled. Those moves came after Jeremy Boreing, CEO of The Daily Wire, revealed Thursday morning that Twitter backed out of a deal to show What Is a Woman, the outlet’s popular documentary about the militant transgender movement.

HOUSTON - Exxon Mobil Corp and Chevron Corp shareholders on Wednesday overwhelmingly rejected calls for stronger measures to mitigate climate change, dismissing more than a dozen climate-related proposals at their annual meetings. The results supported the two largest U.S. oil producers in resisting pressure from investor groups calling for the pair to follow European rivals in accepting tougher emissions reductions goals. Despite efforts by Shell PLC, BP PLC and TotalEnergies, protesters still stormed their shareholder meetings this year, seeking a faster shift away from fossil fuels. Their demands similarly failed. The bill, a bipartisan compromise crafted by Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and the White House, now heads to the Senate, where a single senator can hold up its passage. The vote comes after a massive whip operation by both parties, with Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) delivering McCarthy the support needed to get the bill across the finish line.
