Ford announced Tuesday it has reversed plans to cut AM radios from most of its new vehicles starting in 2024, with car, truck and SUV owners all benefitting from the decision. The manufacturer will also restore AM on two electric vehicles from 2023. CEO Jim Farley used social media to confirm the company is walking back a decision to scrub the radio band after speaking with government policy leaders concerned about keeping emergency alerts that often are sounded on AM stations.“We’ve decided to include it on all 2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles,” Farley wrote on Twitter and LinkedIn. “For any owners of Ford’s EVs without AM broadcast capability,

I think this is because AM has the most conservative talk stations. They wanted to eliminate that voice.

Probably should have done their research first. More evidence that many of the people running our biggest corporations are idiots. Good on them, however, for turning around a stupid decision so they are not complete idiots.

When will Ford (and GM, as well) reverse their suicidal corporate decision to bet their futures on environment raping electric glorified golf carts instead of the gasoline and diesel vehicles Americans require?

Well, Ford was the one car company who told the government to keep their bail out money. They seem to have good instincts - hopefully, they will see the folly of producing only electric cars that no one wants.

Ford couldn't afford to alienate any more truck buyers. They're losing enough money as it is by selling only one car in their lineup. Everything else is a truck. Now with gas at four bucks and up per gallon, trucks are moving off the lot all that well. Stupid decisions lead to red ink.

Electrical noise in any modern vehicle is a problem. I think they just wanted to eliminate the problem of cutting the noise down, probably figuring a majority wouldn't care. It's not 'conservative voices' that did it: many are now on FM or satellite anyway. It does surprise me that they can fix it with a software upgrade. It means the feature was there, just not enabled.

How about reversing plans to build all those worthless-yet-very-expensive electric vehicles? Ford used to have a huge presence at the Oshkosh EAA Fly-In every year in late July. Huge circus tent, lots of new cars and trucks, very interesting cutaway engine displays, and some cool "drifting" demonstrations with high powered Mustangs. The displays were always crowded. Two years ago, they brought the Electric Mustang....a big, fat, electric SUV with a Mustang emblem on it. Everyone who walked by said "That's not a Mustang!" They had no drifters, no high performance models on display, and no cutaway internal combustion engines, no interviews with race drivers. Attendance at their tent was around 5-10% of what it had been in the previous 10 years. Last year, Ford didn't show up at the Oshkosh Airshow at all. People don't want what they are making. Note that the "Mustang Mach-E SUV" is still out there, they are trying to sell them.....cheapest model is $43K, and they quickly climb to way over $50K. Ford sold 27,000 of these electric monstrosities in 2021, but no longer reports sales numbers of EVs. Gee, I wonder why? In the past, a vehicle that only sold 27K would be quickly dumped and replaced with something that people actually want to own.

Depending on the model of vehicle, if I was stupid enough to buy one, I would hit one of the car stereo stores in my area and pick a great radio/CD combo radio. Upgrading the radio is something hubby and I normally do anyway. Most vehicles only have the basic radio and they just aren't any good.

Trump Critics Need to Stop Complaining

The criticisms that some conservative critics of President Trump have is that he had too much "baggage." The "baggage" is Trump's confrontational style, his "mean" social media posts, and the myriad "scandals" during his administration. They complain that Trump's "baggage" makes him impossible to defend. They complain that Trump often invites trouble. In Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, they think they have their ideal candidate: someone who purportedly stands for the MAGA agenda but is devoid of "baggage." So does the "baggage" make Trump a target?

DeSantis, who last week formally announced his campaign for the White House, weighed in two days after President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the deal, which would suspend the federal debt limit through January 2025. Asked for his assessment, DeSantis told Fox News: 'Well, prior to this deal ... our country was careening towards bankruptcy. And after this deal our country will still be careening towards bankruptcy.'

One of the most maddening things about modern culture is the whole issue of pronouns. At the very least, it’s annoying that some people trumpet their pronouns, choosing to base their identity on how people address them when talking about them behind their backs. But it’s even worse the way some people freak out over people using the wrong pronouns as if other people have nothing better to do than keep up with what everybody’s pronouns are at any given moment. Prounoun obsession is the ultimate form of narcissism; it’s entirely self-focused to think that everyone should bend to the whim of what you want to call yourself.
