Some Democrat leaders have acknowledged some of the losses in the debt ceiling negotiations and have urged their fellow members to vote “yes” anyway.
According to Congressional reporter Max Cohen, former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) has been urging his colleagues to vote “yes” despite some of their misgivings.“Despite these setbacks, we must save the American economy from Republicans’ irresponsible and radical plans to impose a damaging default. The failure to do so would have catastrophic impacts on every American, every family, and the global economy,” Hoyer reportedly said.

The Democrats never acknowledge defeat, so the Democrats must be faking out the wimpy Republicans?

There is no opposition party. All there are is quaking cowards who dont want power and wont use it when they have it. Epstein sure must have had a lot of pictures. In the meantime, everyone get ready to post how not voting for the republican is voting for the democrat, and ignore that voting for the republican is also voting for a democrat..

Total BS. RINO traitor McCarthy sold us out—as GOP always does. Never fails to disappoint.

Guess they're trying to give McCarthy a fig leaf of cover, while getting their members to vote for their preferred bill.

Newt says it is a big win. I believe Newt.
Naysayers who have never actually worked on a bill and negotiated the details have little concept of the process.
I worked a number of years with several Dem legislators and a number of Republican legislators on our concealed carry bill in the late 90s into the early 2000s.
Old saying that I saw to be SO true:
"Politics is the art of the possible."
Harrupfing over things that are politically impossible is what outsiders do.

I agree that the Republicans "won" due to the fact that they didn't simply cave and roll over like they have done several times in the past. That being said, the spending is still out of control.

This is a Democrat ruse to cover the fact the people have gotten the short stick again. The Republicans have given us nothing. I will vote for Trump. That is the last time we got anything.

Receiving an additional $4.5 Trillion dip into taxpayers' pockets doesn't sound like defeat to me. The promises made to get that will be ignored or broken anyway so take your gift and shut up.

I smell another GOP cave. On reading the “deal”’s points, having McCarthy say, “We grew government but at a slower rate” does not seem like a good deal to these ears. I don’t trust Democrats and now I trust congressional Republicans even less. I don’t care what Newt said. He’s not infallible.

This is all ridiculous posturing. It’s massive spendings and borrowing with enormous waste no matter what. No one could afford to shut down the government with the economy and banking system in such a fragile state. In the end it’s minimal compromising.

Since the Democrats are the minority party, why does it matter how they vote?

Never mind Newt. See what Chip Roy has to say, from Twitter
“There are members of the GOP claiming Democrats got nothing from the “deal.” Oh really? 1) An uncapped debt ceiling with an expiration date - worth approximately $4 trillion…? 2) basically no cuts - a freeze at bloated 2023 spending level?
3) ZERO claw back of the $1.2 Trillion “inflation reduction act” crony giveaways to elite leftists for grid-destroying unreliable energy…? 4) 98% of the IRS expansion left fully in place…? 5) no work requirements for Medicaid? - & only age adjustments for TANF/SNAP…? …6) no REINS act statutory requirement for congress to approve huge regulations - just an “administrative” paygo that the administration will get to enforce? 7) No border security!! - & a deal allowing them to avoid policy riders in the fall… 8) more…

Good deal or bad? Depends on the details of which we have little as of now. However, the Democrat apparatchik is taking notice. House Rebublicans voted then held together. Even the leaderless Rebublicans in the Senate found enough votes to block Chuckie and his minions. Diaper Joe said no to anything other than a 'clean' debt ceiling bill. And there wasn't a 'clean' bill but one with concessions by the Dems. The IRS, EPA, CIA, FBI, Dept of Just-Us are all noticing what happen. And they now know, when REbublicans say they want to cut the Dem's apparatchik's budget, the Rebublicans can and will do it. The power of the purse is no longer firmly headed in the hands of the democrats. And that, for me, is a huge win. But I expect the Rebublicans to squander it before Thanksgiving.

Let's not jump to conclusions...let's wait till WE can read what was the final settlement before WE admit defeat....any cut in the rat's proposed budget is a victory...of sorts...so let's not be discouraged and move on....

RE#6: "Harrumphing over things that are politically impossible is what outsiders do."
The problem is that the vast majority of We The People are what you refer to as "outsiders".
DVC, I respect your opinions, sir; always have. But I have had it up to my eyes with government by the "insiders", of the "insiders" and FOR the "insiders", i. e. the self-anointed "Elites". They must be defeated.
