California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) now says he is open to the idea of cash reparations for slavery, after he indicated several days ago he was opposed to the idea, which was recommended by his own task force on the issue. (snip) Now, however, after a predictable media storm and backlash from the black activists whose hopes he had raised with the reparations task force, Newsom is moving back in the opposite direction.

Newbie's advance payoff to sign a reparations bill into law must have arrived in his offshore bank account.

Having a noodle for a spine must make it hard for ol' Gruesome Newsom to take a stand on any issue.

Oops, the staffer who came up with the previous comment against reparations obviously didn’t run that by a liberal focus panel. He/she gone!

grewsome stepped into a very big pile of it and how he can't find a way to get it off his shoes, the citizens of California will have to pick up the slack for this mismanagement of bad decisions, another recall petition on the horizon, maybe?

Sorry, we need this issue to continue to string you along for a number of years so you will vote for us, so I am "open" to cash payments now.
We need to do it in a way that doesn't remove the massive government programs already providing many forms of assistance over the past 50+ years as it would remove tens of thousands of government workers.

Fear and threats of a summer of rioting mobs can do wonders to change one’s mind. I think it’s called “mob rule”.

Chances are Newsom will now support reparations at least up until the coming election, and then after that election passes, Newsome will again change his mind. That’s how Democrat politics work.

Dems like to dangle shiny object before their voters. Usually the voters quickly forget they've been played yet again. But this time the baubles are too enticing. Many black residents are already drawing up plans to spend that $1.2 million pile of cash.

And once again, for the 500th time in 25 years, here's the definition of reparations.
Taking money from me, someone who has never owned a slave.
Giving it to you, someone who has never been a slave.
So you will vote for democrats.
Every single 'rat politicians should sell every bit of property they own, cash in bank accounts, pension funds and sell all their stock and put it in a reparation fund. Since the 'rats were the ones who mostly owned slaves, my God, they started a war that killed 600,000 to keep Blacks as slaves, they passed the Jim Crow laws and formed the KKK as their terrorist arm that lynched over 2000 Blacks and even a few Whites were murdered trying to find justice for Blacks. It's the only fair thing to do before going after innocent people who had nothing to do with slavery.

Cough up a couple million per black head and check out your "migrant" situation. There won't be a single black person in any other state in the USA.

I had a relative die at Fort Donaldson in the Civil War. He was in the Union Army and gave his life to free the slaves. I demand reparations for his death.

If, for $1.2 million they would move permanently to Africa and give up, irreversibly, their citizenship, it might well be the best bargain ever struck.
