Florida’s governor has just cut ties with a political action committee (PAC) bearing his name. Many Floridians see this as an indication that he’s preparing to abandon Florida for a presidential run.
(anip) DeSantis severed ties with “Friends of Ron DeSantis,” a major state-level PAC “committed to advancing” the governor’s “Freedom Agenda and keeping Florida free.” (snip), the new “associated person,” is Florida State Senator Blaise Ingoglia.”
(snip) state law (pdf) prohibits the use of money raised by a state-level PAC for a race at the federal level.
Tim Sharp(snip) said, “He’s running.”
“He just wanted to make sure the revision on Resign-to-Run came through,”

As a Floridan and supporter of Gov. DeSantis I would urge him not to run against Trump for the Presidency. Neither will come out unscathed however DeSantis will be forever hurt and Trump will still be the nominee.
DeSantis is a young man in Presidential terms and four more years of seasoning will only assist him when Trumps term ends. Having the endorsement of Trump in future elections is important: hopefully he will see this.
Trump has the instinct and willingness to fight for the rights of Americans. He will not back down. He has been forged in fire. Hopefully this time he will choose his staff more wisely; now he truly knows who his friends and enemies are.
My plea to the Governor is to pass this one by, he will not come out the winner. I support him and all the wonderful things he has done for Florida, but please serve out your term and continue with the commitment you made to Florida to serve your entire term, even if unspoken.

DeSantis needs to wait until Trump has run and either lost again or won again. He will get more voters and support if he doesn't try to run against Trump. If he does, Trump's base will never forgive him and they will turn on him and NOT vote for him. If he waits until 2028, he will have a better chance of getting more Republicans behind him. Running against Trump is political suicide.

And...in the vein of running against Trump...who wants to take bets on how long it will take Pence to drop out?

RonnieBoy is getting into the race because he believes the Trumpster won't be on the ballot in the end, for any number of reasons. He knows the Fix is in with the courts. He is blowing his whole wad on that happening. As a Trump supporter i will not be voting for ronnieboy ever.

I'm a Floridian. He's a fool if he takes on Trump in 2024. It will ruin him politically.

I will never vote for any republican who challenges Trump now. The public was "scammed" in 2016 and 2020. Trump deserves a second term.
Any candidate who tries to derail the MAGA train will be punished.

This Floridian who has twice voted for DeSantis is with posters # 1 & 2 and hopes the governor will not run for president this time around.
But if he does run, something I have no control over... well, what to do? I don't think Trump can win a national election, even an honest one. Seven years of Democrat/Media poison have IMO rendered him unelectable. The country as I see it is confused and drifting, suffused with all this "climate change" hokum, political correctness and devotion to the totemic significance of abortion. Only a minority is chomping at the bit for a restoration of MAGA.
Tough times, tough choices.
DeSantis is a fresh face and may - just may - have a better chance of squeaking out a victory in a general election.

I have said this since DeSantis first started hinting that he was thinking of running in 2024. It will be political suicide if he does.
Ron DeSantis has the chance to be the future of the Republican Party. He needs to swallow his pride and be Trump's biggest cheerleader for the 2024 election. If he does that, the Trump base voters will reward him with their support, money, and votes in 2028. Trump will too!!! The Trump base voters (many of whom are no longer Republicans but "independent conservatives") are too strong, numerous, and fired up for anyone to get the Republican nomination over Trump in 2024. And if DeSantis thinks he can, the Trump base voters will remember him as a huge backstabber and will not support him in 2028 or any other time.
It is a win/win for DeSantis to support Trump in 2024 and Trump to support DeSantis in 2028. Florida needs DeSantis to be their full-time governor and future president. But we all need Trump to be president in 2025 if there is any chance of repairing the massive damage done by Senile Joe bidet and the Demon-Rats right now!!!!!

that will undoubtedly happen if he continues this malproductive quest
- it is best and would be a true test of his character if he stayed in Florida to continue his good works there and wait for our President, Donald J. Trump to begin the unravelling of this nation so 2028 will be a completed mission begun in 2016, interrupted in 2020 and then begun again in 2024 when our President is re-re-elected

Despite Tolson's "analysis," self-respecting Americans do not need their state's governor to walk beside them, hold their hands, and be their friend. Those who habitually praise Trump, while denigrating everyone else, can stop with their faux "concern" over DeSantis' political future. Contrast the fake concern with the honesty of #5, even if you disagree with the sentiment of 'I'll never vote for anyone who ever runs against my guy.' I'd rather vote for someone who lost a previous election rather than vote for a craven coward, quivering in fear of being called bad names and/or risking losing the future support of the political equivalent of super-loyal Grateful Dead fans. While I acknowledge Trump's popularity, to those who think Trump is infallible, it's hard to not notice that Trump gave way - by hook or crook - to the absolute worst president ever.
