Apr. 11—A hybrid vehicle fire caused a small explosion at a home in Erie Tuesday morning. Mountain View Fire Rescue officials tweeted that dispatchers received a report of a structure fire on Marlowe Circle in the Morgan Hill neighborhood of Erie at 8:16 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters found a hybrid Jeep 4XE hybrid smoking inside a garage. When crews put water on the vehicle, the battery caused an explosion, blowing the garage door off its track.

I am real excited about the prospect of paying 50K for an exploding car. One that goes a few hundred miles, then I have to charge for 3-4 hours, and battery replacements cost 15K.

Lithium batteries in a "electric bike" caught fire in some city ( forget where) in the last few days and killed some children from the house fire that it caused. Lithium batteries are flat out too dangerous to be using. And yet, the insane folks in the Traitor Joe junta are forcing them on all of us.

I had a battery explode on an internal combustion engine car. Almost injured the guy working on my car. At my age I'll be worm munchies by the time EVs are shoved down our throats. But, if I'm still around, I'll go Amish and get a mule and a buggy.

#3 is correct that a lithium bicycle battery recently caught fire and burned down a house. Do you know how well a 1,200 pound Li-ion battery burns? You never saw anything like it. It burns like the Stygian depths of perdition.

IMO the reason we haven't read about more cars exploding is because there aren't that many out there in comparison with ebikes.

Re #8, excellent points. The windows 'roll down' with power now days, so you can't open the windows if power is lost by a battery explosion....I wonder if the door latches are mechanical or electrical? Would you be able to open the doors manually? I did my master's thesis design work on hybrid electric vehicles back in the middle 70s, and we built a hybrid car and hybrid bus. But we used ordinary lead-acid batteries, heavy duty, deep cycle versions of the car starting batteries used today, and smaller versions of the batteries that powered WW2 submarines when submerged. Pretty safe.

Sixty years ago, Beatlemania was rocking the world of music. Writing in the Atlantic, Colin Fleming refers to 1963 as “that magical and formative year for the band,” “the year the Beatles found their voice,” and “the band’s annus mirabilis.” It set the stage for their fabled first visit to America in February 1964. I was 10 years old in 1963 but I well remember black-and-white newscasts of large British audiences screaming adulation at Beatles performances.

This process was botched and several attempts were made to remedy it, but the reduced size of Jazz’s penis due to years on puberty blockers made an already brutal surgery even worse.

The Biden administration is reportedly finalizing a proposal that would force fossil fuel-fired power plants to substantially curb emissions or utilize costly carbon capture technology. The proposal — which will soon be released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — is expected to require coal- and natural gas-fired power plants to cut or capture the vast majority of their carbon dioxide emissions by 2040, The New York Times reported on Saturday, citing officials briefed on a draft of the plan. The regulation, if finalized, would represent the first-ever federal action curbing power plant emissions. "EPA cannot comment because the proposals are currently under interagency review,"

Predictably, it was anodyne and obsequious in the extreme, with Biden celebrating how Muslims “decorate their homes, give gifts to loved ones, wear new clothes, and visit family and friends.” The faux president is made to add: “I am moved by the generosity that is shown from families that can provide food and give charity to those in need through Zakat-al-Fitr.” In the course of all this flattery, Biden’s writer drops in a serious note: there is now a U.S. government task force
