Ann lists the definition of "Clintonesque" as relating to a US president c. 1992-2000, meaning “oily dissembler, shunned by decent society.” Shunned by decent society and yet Clinton's successor, George W. Bush, often cavorts with the dissembler on stage as though they are an old vaudeville act, yucking it up and having a grand time. A brother from another mother.

At least there was a REASON for that impeachment. Not like what we have experienced in the last 6 or 7 years.

#9, some of what you say is sadly true, but the USA has always been a pursuit of higher goals than other societies failed to even mention. It isn't remarkable that we fail. It is remarkable that we even try. Perhaps we will be overrun by evil or ignorance, but good men have fought for those ideals since before this was actually a country. If we are honest, all of us have to measure ourselves against those men and women who fought for right and the ideals we are supposed to live by. You took up the challenge and can be rightly proud of trying to follow in the footsteps of men who left bloody footprints in the snow. Honor, duty, bravery, responsibility are not small things or optional things, they are the only things that matter for a true citizen vs resident.

The Walt Disney Company is in a world of hurt in Florida. Having inserted itself into Florida politics by advocating injecting homosexual sex into K – 3rd grade classrooms, the company just lost its special privilege to act as the local government for its vast real estate holdings around Disney World. And now, the major union at Disney World has overwhelmingly rejected the company’s new contract offer. The New York Times reports:

My last column, “Why Many Conservatives Won’t Be with Their Children or Grandchildren This Christmas,” dealt with the issue of parents whose left-wing adult children have cut off all contact with their parents because the parents are on the Right — children who will not even allow their parents to have contact with their grandchildren. One would think that any person with a functioning conscience and a normal human heart would feel for these parents.

DENVER (KDVR) – Video captured by a Cherry Creek resident shows thieves getting into the car and then callously taking what they please. The owner of the car said this has become a sad routine for him and his family. Working on his car has always been a pastime for Juergen Waldvogel. “This is the third time that we’ve experienced this in the last year, maybe two,” Waldvogel said. Unfortunately for him, he’s now dealing with thefts from those cars. His Cherry Creek home, near First Avenue and Steele Street, was the target of thieves.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — Two boys not old enough to get a driver’s permit now face two charges of first-degree murder and arson in a fire that killed a mother and her young daughter on Oct. 31. Both suspects appeared for their first court hearing Monday afternoon from a WebEx virtual link at the Jefferson County courthouse, where their ages were revealed as 12 and 14. The two were arrested on Sunday. Because of the ages of the juvenile suspects, their names cannot be released under Colorado law. A defense motion to close the court hearing to the media was denied.

NEW YORK — Four times a week on average, an e-bike or e-scooter battery catches fire in New York City. Sometimes, it does so on the street, but more often, it happens when the owner is recharging the lithium ion battery. A mismatched charger won't always turn off automatically when the battery's fully charged, and keeps heating up. Or, the highly flammable electrolyte inside the battery's cells leaks out of its casing and ignites, setting off a chain reaction. "These bikes when they fail, they fail like a blowtorch,"
Biden is Destroying our Strategic Petroleum Reserve 20 replies

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is a national treasure. Frighteningly, Biden is rapidly despoiling this treasure. The Reserve consists of four sites (Bryan Mound, Big Hill, Bayou Choctaw, and West Hackberry) with a combined storage capacity of 714 million barrels of crude oil. It is the largest strategic oil reserve in the world. The OPEC oil embargo of 1973 and the resultant oil crisis contributed to western governments’ recognition of how vulnerable their countries were to disruptions in Middle East oil.

Republican Rep. George Santos positioned himself in a prime location for President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address — an uncomfortably prominent place for the embattled new lawmaker who faces multiple investigations and has acknowledged embellishing and even lying about his life story. Santos’ presence at the center aisle to see and be seen with the arrivals was met with a stern rebuke from a fellow Republican, Sen. Mitt Romney. “You don’t belong here,” the Utah Republican scolded Santos as he entered the House chamber and spotted the New York Republican on the aisle.

Has (sic) affirmative action hiring practices caused overall competence to plummet? The record appears to show exactly that. For no good reasons whatsoever, competence was allowed to die on the vine in order to give the less competent a leg up. Not equality but superiority rules the hiring, firing, and education of Americans. Worse, many of those who were affirmatively hired do not do as good a job as those whose excellence was obvious. You can see it in customer service, which for many businesses is abysmally incompetent. There is a resentful casualness in those who are hired to serve others that would not have been acceptable even two decades ago.

Sinema made a bold entrance into the House chamber for the speech, after forcing Washington to hold its collective breath during talks on the Inflation Reduction Act, then later announcing she had switched from Democrat to independent.
