The Left Is Willing to Bankrupt America

“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” — Winston Churchill, House of Commons, Oct. 22, 1945 American socialists are eager to prove Churchill right. Their preferred stalking horse in their pursuit of egalitarian misery is the specter of a climate apocalypse. Since the apocalypse, in their telling, is gonna be, well, apocalyptic, that means the defense against it must be just as all-embracing. And just as the defense against the real Nazi apocalypse bankrupted the British Empire, so, too, they are content to bankrupt America in the pursuit of a cause they believe has equal urgency.

The ultimate compromise between prosperity and efficiency is to quickly adopt Advanced Generation 4/5 nuclear technology. Using liquid fuels that can generate electricity from existing nuclear waste would supply all the enery we would need, including projected growth, for 300 years. It doesn't have to be austerity or prosperity if we are smart about the technology that already exists. This was the plan since the '50s and it's time to get serious.

The goal of the socialists is to destroy the middle class, including all small business, and take over the professions. That will leave American's powerless to resist socialist hegemony. Socialists are not bankrupting themselves. It is the middle class that is being bankrupted. All that money is being directed from the middle class to the socialists.

The left does not believe in our economic system. To them, bankruptcy might be a good thing. It will 'usher in' a new economic system. It is certainly believable that Climate Change is one of the mechanisms to make that change. The left is big on change. No objection to change, but it better be superior to what we currently have. What the left wants will only benefit themselves. That's not progress. Another thing the left is big on. Can always count on the left to be hypocrites.

These people are playing right into China's hands. China is behind the green energy push because they need the oil/fossil fuels that other countries are saving. China, one of the biggest polluters in the world, is not interested in carbon emissions. They keep building coal-burning power plants.

Let me share an inconvenient truth: Atmospheric CO2 is not a pollutant. CO2 is necessary for all life on earth. Elimination of CO2 in the atmosphere would end all plant growth, tree growth and as a result there would be no food supply for any humans or animals on earth. Ionization of CO2 in the upper atmosphere absorbs UV solar radiation and protects life on earth. CO2 plays only a minor role in the greenhouse effect. Water vapor is a much more effective greenhouse gas.

A gaggle of the usual suspects brought a bit of anarchy to the Upper East Side Saturday, hopping down to subway tracks to protest the demise of an afflicted fellow not one of them gave a damn about when he was alive. But what makes the chokehold death of Jordan Neely — a sometimes-violent, regularly menacing subway presence with severe mental-health issues — stand out so much that it provokes progressive tantrums? After all, as the estimable Nicole Gelinas detailed in these pages last week, 27 others have met violent ends in the subway system since 2020 without generating a ripple of interest among New York’s anarcho-activists.

The old cultural imperialism was supposedly greedy corporatism like Disneyland, McDonald's, and Starbucks sprouting up worldwide to supplant local competitors. But these businesses spread because they appealed to free-will consumer demand abroad. They were not imposed top down. The U.S. presence in Afghanistan collapsed in August 2021 amid the greatest American military humiliation in modern history. A billion-dollar new embassy was abandoned. Hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of new infrastructure at the huge Bagram Airbase was dumped. We still do not know how many billions of dollars of sophisticated new weapons were left to the Taliban and now are making their way through global terrorists' marts.

The analysis showed that Black drivers received almost 37% of the tickets, despite Black people making up only about 16% of Florida's driving-eligible population. Law enforcement cited Black drivers at a rate of just over 11 tickets per 100,000 Black drivers, and cited white drivers at a rate of 3.9 tickets per 100,000 white drivers.

Experts believe that borrowers with a credit score of about 680 would pay around $40 more per month on a $400,000 mortgage under rules from the Federal Housing Finance Agency that go into effect May 1, costs that will help subsidize people with lower credit ratings also looking for a mortgage, according to a Washington Times report Tuesday. “The changes do not make sense.
