A man named Jay Withey, better known now as “Merry Christmas Jay,” is being called a hero by police after saving 24 people and two dogs in the Buffalo blizzard by breaking into a school to keep them warm, feed them, and use the facilities until they could safely leave.
Withey will not be charged with breaking and entering into the school on Dec. 23. Instead, the 27-year-old may get an award from the police for his selfless actions that saved the lives of others during the bomb cyclone that killed dozens of people.
“Merry Christmas Jay” left a note apologizing to Pine Hill School for breaking in,

A good deed, with a bit of damage, to save lives. Glad that everyone was OK, and wonderful that they all behaved themselves.
OTOH, not filling your gas tank to the top when a huge storm is coming......not a good plan. And years ago I drove VWs with superb traction in icy conditions. Many times we were the only car that could make it over the mountains in snowstorms in WVa and Va mountains in the 70s in our VW Squareback. Now we have an even more impressive 4Runner, and chains, and survival gear, for crossing the Rockies in winter, as we did during this storm.
Glad he saved people. He's a good man. But, planning should be improved by a lot of folks.

God bless you Jay and all the people and animals you saved. This, Joe, is what America is about, people putting others welfare before them, people truly caring for people, skin color and status didn't matter, this is what the majority of people in this country are like.... Something you pretend but really know nothing about. No Joke.

Jay said that he had knocked on doors asking for shelter before finding the school and was turned away. Given the millions of illegal aliens running around the country, one can't blame people for not potentially putting their families in danger. Glad it all worked out well.

It's a blessing to hear about people who still have survival mode. Don't give up, don't depend on anyone!

50 inches of snow, he saved 24 people & 2 dogs , slept in his truck all night, got up offered people $500 to sleep on floor, no one accepted, thought he was going to die, found school , broke window, brought 24 people & 2 dogs in, stayed in one room... the cafeteria... only ate food as needed, storm over he duct taped the window , left apology note, used school snow blower to clean pathway & cleaned all the vehicles of people in the school...super wow!!! They plan an annual meeting!!!!

Mr. Jay found others in the same predicament that he was in; they were all unprepared for the storm. He didn't dwell on not being prepared as has been suggested here, but he kept at it until he found a solution. Jay is an amazing and selfless man, and he saved others while also saving himself. Do you think a capable black, brown, or yellow person wouldn't have done the same? Sometimes this garbage spewed from here is indefensible; it's embarrassing really. This story brought tears to my eyes, but some of the comments here are, again, embarrassing. I expect better from L-dotters. Stuff happens and we are all caught off guard and unprepared from time to time. This is a beautiful human story in the midst of a terrible situation, and race shouldn't matter. There's only one race, by the way. We should all be careful in not allowing ourselves to become jaded and falling into the trap that the left has laid for us. These evil cretins have been hoping for race wars since the sixties. Remember, they are unrelenting. Don't let them get you. This group of people from a shared experience, led by Jay, are now like family.

Government services take another creditability hit. When they are needed, they are only a day or two away, or maybe a week.

Lived most of my life in Alberta, Canada where EVERY winter you have weeks of weather at 40 below zero. You dress for it and carry on. That said in any sub-zero temps you never leave anybody in distress. Survival time at 40 below is about an hour. Well done Jay.
