A mother has filed a lawsuit against an Ohio school district after the school nurse’s aide allegedly strip-searched her 8th-grade daughter.
The mother filed a federal lawsuit against the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools Board of Education and three Eastlake School Middle School employees on December 28.
The incident allegedly took place on September 27, when the Eastlake Middle student was asked by another student to put a vape pen in her gym locker. The lawsuit says that the student “begrudgingly agreed.”
ABC News reports, “Just before lunch the same day, the school’s principal Colleen Blaurock pulled the eighth grader out of class and questioned her about the vape pen, according to the lawsuit.”

Sounds like someone is getting a free ride through college.
I dont see the big deal anyway. As far as I've been able to determine, vapes are just steam with some nicotine. As close to harmless as it gets. As long as the fluid is unadulterated, its no biggie.
I suggest an all-natural alternative to vaping. We used to call them cigarettes. You could often find them being smoked in the boys bathroom, or the teachers lounge. That was before the social engineers got involved.

Chewing gum used to get you sent to the principals office. Times have changed.

I’d be in jail for promptly storming the school and punching any commie head I could find! You mess with one of mine, I don’t care about myself or consequences! You will learn who you can’t touch or abuse…EVER!

NO type of search is justified for a silly vape pen. Harmful drugs or weapons are another story and that type of search should be conducted by a police officer of the same gender with more than one present. Anything else is abuse of power and perversion.

As the Mother of Two Daughters, I can tell you that I would also be at that School screaming at the People who thought they could humiliate my Daughter by demanding she undress in front of them. No Way was that okay! Eighth Grade girls, usually 13-14 years old are going through a lot of Body changes, getting their periods for the first time and experiencing Breasts developing. They don't need a strange woman demanding they strip in front of her. They don't even like having to take showers after Gym class in front of their Best Friends at that age So YES, the school should be dragged over the Carpet for what they did. I think the Mother has a good case!!

This contemporary version of smoking in the lavatory draws this level of "enforcement" in the schools...why? What is the matter with today's adults? The first thought is that there are few in terms of maturity.

Don’t take the school to court, take the individuals. Until people, not entities are held accountable, the innocent will pay and the guilty will get away with it. Schools are buildings, people did this to her.

If they did that to my child, I would sue also. This is when they call the parent to school. Once again, the schools believe they own our children.....they don't. I say sue the h3ll out of them. Anyone involved should be removed immediately.

Folks, many public schools are not led by the brightest bulbs in the building. The lack of any evidence, even after the strip search, rendered this principle's actions illegal. You cannot suspend a student on rumors or accusations.
But, the school system will cover up and cover her ass right up and including the big payout.

If the school strip searches a student for contraband and finds it, punish the student as appropriate and that is the end of it...but if, as in this case, they strip search the student and do NOT find contraband, those responsible for having the student strip searched should be charged with sexual abuse of a minor. The risk should be high enough to discourage such behavior.

Even cops can't violate a child like this without parental permission. It used to be that a cop couldn't even question a minor without a parent's consent or the parents had the right to be present. The left think they are a law unto themselves. Nurses don't always know the law, though. I had a nurse share the medical information of dozens of students with me via unsecure email. When I told her that I didn't need the information and she only needed to provide the information at the site in a secure location, she accused me of not following protocol to know this information about students my program served. The problem wasn't having the information, it was how it was to be shared. We ended up in a gotcha meeting with her boss, and I reminded them of HIPAA and how my company handles sensitive student information. Her boss had a look on her face, said that I was absolutely right, and they both left the meeting abruptly. How does a nurse not know that she should protect students' private information and the protocols for doing so? Lack of training and don't care. She was just getting paid, and in this case, was participating in some melodrama being stirred up by her director. This nurse apologized to me later and told me she was done with the drama. People with school-aged children need to get a grip on the public education system; they are out of control!
FTA - "“There, a nurse’s aide Rosalyn Rubertino allegedly forced the middle schooler to strip down to only her underwear after the middle school’s assigned nurse Megan Kuhlman — who was not present at the time — allegedly instructed her to do so over the phone.”"

I remember the 8th Grade as a time of vulnerability. This pricipal decision is very wrong. I suggest that the entire school be leveled (to the ground) and all students of it be transfered to a private school at school district expense.

Re #1, Vape pens are commonly used with drugs. WNBA player Brittney Griner was sent to prison in Russia for having a vape pen loaded with hashish (strong stuff) in her luggage.
I see nothing wrong with this. The girl knew that hiding the vape pen for her friend was wrong.

When we were in 8eth grade. we daily stripped to our underwear to put on our clothes for gym and then again to put our school clothes on. She had to strip to the same underwear in front of a female school nurse. C’mon...
