A mother has filed a lawsuit against an Ohio school district after the school nurse’s aide allegedly strip-searched her 8th-grade daughter. The mother filed a federal lawsuit against the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools Board of Education and three Eastlake School Middle School employees on December 28. The incident allegedly took place on September 27, when the Eastlake Middle student was asked by another student to put a vape pen in her gym locker. The lawsuit says that the student “begrudgingly agreed.” ABC News reports, “Just before lunch the same day, the school’s principal Colleen Blaurock pulled the eighth grader out of class and questioned her about the vape pen, according to the lawsuit.”

A newborn baby was surrendered to Florida’s “first and only” Safe Haven Baby Box at Ocala’s Fire Rescue headquarters, “marking the first time it has been used,” WKMG-TV Click Orlando reported on Thursday.
Safe Haven Baby Boxes founder and CEO Monica Kelsey, Ocala Mayor Kent Guinn, and Ocala Fire Chief Clint Welborn announced news of the surrendered baby during a news conference on Thursday morning and praised the resource for helping to save lives.
“I’m so happy to hear of this miracle baby,” Guinn said. “I knew when we did this in 2020, this day would come. We all did. We just didn’t know when.

On Thursday, doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center gave an update on the medical condition of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Hamlin is reportedly responsive physically and neurologically and is communicating with doctors via writing since he cannot speak while intubated.

A measles outbreak in central Ohio has infected at least 82 children, including 32 who have been hospitalized, according to Columbus Public Health (CPH).
Health officials announced they started investigating the outbreak on November 9 after a child became infected at a childcare facility in Franklin County, where Columbus is located. Within the next few weeks, cases were reported at a mall, a church, and a Dollar Tree. There were only four reported measles cases at the time.
Of those infected, 54 patients are between the ages of one and five, 23 are under one year old, and five are six years and older.

When the House Jan. 6 committee released hundreds of documents from its investigation online at the end of the year, it inadvertently made public nearly 2,000 Social Security numbers belonging to high profile individuals who visited the White House in December 2020, according to a report.
The Washington Post reported Friday that the leaked Social Security information was included in a spreadsheet buried within the "massive cache" of records from the committee's work. Social Security numbers belonging to at least three members of Trump's cabinet, a few Republican governors, and several Trump associates were reportedly compromised. The data was part of the White House visitor logs published by the committee.
