Early voting turnout for this year's Nov. 8 midterm elections dropped statewide compared with the early voting turnout in the 2018 midterm elections. Unofficial voting totals by the Texas secretary of state's office, which oversees Texas elections, indicate statewide voter turnout is about 31%, while 2018 results indicated that statewide early voting turnout was nearly 40% based on results reported by counties. (Snip) Travis County's early voting turnout dropped from 47% in 2018 to 37%, according to the Texas secretary of state's tallies Saturday morning. Williamson County dropped from 49% in 2018 to 39%, according to Williamson County and Texas

Maybe Democrat voters are just a little disheartened as it has become apparent that the Democrat party is a racist, perverted, cheating, corrupt gang run by Marxist ideologues, sociopaths and demented fools. Although a few of their voters don't seem to have noticed.

The Republicans were asked to vote on Election Day. Doesn't look well for the Democrats. :) Texas is Red.

Hey OP, don’t forget Dallas, Houston, El Paso where there are lots of Democrats. They are hardly motivated to love their party right now worried about gas prices and winter energy bills!! The ones who haven’t switched to the Republican Party would rather sit it out rather than vote for ‘Rats this time!!

And HOW do we know that Democrats are the ones staying home? Republican voters should fear complacency because it'll kill our chances more than Dim cheating.

Why give the Dems an advance look so they know how many votes to manufacture? I don't turn in my ballot until voting day. It is marked and ready to go, but won't be turned in until the afternoon of the 8th.

Is it an indication that new laws have made it harder to cheat? The difference in absentee/early votes cast may be a measure of the fraud in prior elections.

Less Dems and less fraud = fewer votes

Republicans are being told to vote on election day, so the counters can't cheat...or come up with the fake ballots needed. Overwhelm the system is the password so the cheating can't happen!

I always vote in person as soon as I can during the two week early voting period in Texas in the off chance that I might drop dead before election day. Plus it ensures that no one else can vote in my name before election day.

I live in Austin, TX, which is a lie-beral cesspool in the middle of a good red conservative state. Normally, the waits on the first day of early voting are 2 or 3 hours here. But I really wanted to vote for Gov. Abbott and against Robert Francis Beto-the-Faux-Mexican O'Rourke no matter how long it took. It took about 30 minutes (20 minutes in line and another 10 minutes to actually vote).
And most of the other people in line were older and looked much more conservative than what you normally see during elections in this lie-beral cesspool. I was shocked, but I shouldn't have been. What do lie-berals have to look forward to? Seriously, other than Robert Francis Beto-the-Faux-Mexican O'Rourke running for governor, I couldn't name one other Demon-Rat on the major statewide elections (or that have a bat's chance in Hades of winning, though sadly they will all win in Austin).

Two years ago, the Republicans stayed at home. They will vote this year because they have first hand knowledge of what their apathy brought down upon them. On the other hand, the Dems are disillusioned with the state of the economy and may stay home because they can't bring themselves to vote for Republicans. The Independents are voting conservative.

That's because many of the ballots cast in 2018 were fraudulent, as the Democrat machines in the cities cheated massively.

Democrat cheating in 2018 and 2020 likely caused the inflated turnout figures and Trump's low win margin in Texas. Even states that went for Trump experienced artificially low margins, fueled by the widespread cheating in the metropolitan areas. Texas went a little over 50% for Trump but my rural county in East Texas exceeded 80% for Trump with in-person voting.
