I was a reluctant Trump voter six years ago. In actual fact, I was more of an anti-Hillary voter. I was amazed when he won, and I wholeheartedly supported his agenda and the things he did--even though I cringed at much of what he said. (Like "s***-hole countries," for instance.) I was much less reluctant to vote for him two years ago. That said, he makes the mistake of thinking he is the only one who can advance the MAGA agenda now. Ron Desantis will do it, and with much more finesse. Those of you who don't trust the gov--well, you're in the same boat I was in with Trump six years ago, and I say, give him a chance, and see what he can do.

All good points. I view this as more of a brushback to McCarthy and McConnell. They are the real threat—-to Trump, by knocking him out and DeSantis, by compromising him, deep state style. The ad was awful and Trump’s timing premature.

I was hoping the angle was to put some distance between them, so the people constantly asking DeSantis if he was going to serve his full term as Governor would back off before the midterms. I’d really like to know who added the presidential poll metrics and the nickname to the speech. Hopefully, Kelly Ann Conway is not writing his lines again. I’m still not sure about her with her Anti Trump Lincoln Project husband.

Gov. Ron Desantis, a great Governor of Florida. .....and a career politician like the Bushes, Clintons, and Mitch, the turtle. Gov. Desantis will eventually cave and bend with the flow to reach across the aisle like McCain and other RINOs. Today, he's moving with the flow and doing what the people want him to do to get to where he wants to be. He's a politician and Trump is not. Interesting how the people will decide for 2024 Presidential election.

once again, the media is taking sides when they have no business in doing so because this is an issue the demcommies can inflate so it will become an election issue and my opinion is: if you don't like him don't vote for him but other than that don't exacerbate a situation which needs no attention but then again, if you don't vote for him and reap the benefits of his administration you are a turncoat and a lackluster participant

What nonsense. President Trump isn't some come lately dethroned old bull that is marking his territory. Everything he,we, believed and fought for has been tossed to the wind by corrupt evil forces...on both sides of the political isle. As is ALWAYS the case his targets have shot the first arrow of derision. His quirky name calling of DeSantis comes from Desantis' openly giving the finger to President Trump over the support DeSantis threw to a sleazy never Trumper in Colorado that had just had a fund raiser with Bush. That and the ad DeSantis ran that put a aura of godliness on DeSantis. If Surber wants to make something more of this HE will lose. Not President Trump.

Three points: This is the first time, to my knowledge, that Trump has struck first. Trump has responded after he has been attacked. DeSantis has never attacked Trump. Secondly, why the heck at a rally to get Oz over the finish line is he citing a poll that shows him on top of the heap for the 2024 Republican nomination? The rally wasn't about him. It was about taking over the Senate. Thirdly "Ron Sanctimonious" is a very poor attempt at bestowing a nickname on a potential rival. Finally Trump's 71% rating is probably about the same as Jeb Bush's was at the same period in the 2016 electoral cycle. We saw how that ended.

I know this is just "Trump being Trump", and this was his idea of a joke. But it was ill-timed, and, honestly, probably useless since DeSantis is not going to run against Trump in 2024!!! In fact, when Trump then went to Florida, he gave DeSantis his support for re-election. The only "Republicans" that are going to run against Trump in 2024 are useless delusional RINO's. Conservative Republicans aren't going to go against him, because they will lose, and it will tarnish their image for potential post-Trump victories. DeSantis is young, conservative, and extremely popular. He is also very smart. He has everything to gain by being Trump's biggest cheerleader in 2024, while he continues to serve as the very popular governor of Florida -- building up his credentials. By doing so, he will get Trump's full support (including big $$$'s) in 2028, as well as the full support from Trump's 80,000,000 followers and voters.

He is being supported by Jeb bush, bill mahar, Meghan McCain, Paul Ryan and that traitor Mitch McConnell. DeSantis will be used by McConnell to split the Republican vote. It is ok for DJT and DeSantis to talk, and not agree on everything. We need DeSantis to keep hold of Florida right now, and DJT will do a good job as President in 2024, hopefully cleaning the swamp. And it would be very nice, if Republicans would help him, rather than work on their books, and sabotage.

I believe Trump is derailing DeSantis for a 2028 run for POTUS, on behalf of Don Jr., whom he'd like to see make a run then. Trump should be beyond this "schoolyard bully act" with the childish name-calling unleashed in public. It's like wrestlers on the "WWF" and a real turn off to moderates wanting to support him. Be civil in public, and call them whatever you wish in private. That's politics.

Trump was an outstanding President, with more positive accomplishments than any POTUS in recent memory. Yes, he won in 2020. The people here who defend Trump when he’s 100% wrong are every bit as vile as the extreme left. I imagine them sitting in a trailer drinking Old Milwaukee Light after binging on Twinkies while watching The Bachelor, occasionally yelling at the dog chained up outside to stop barking. Ron DeSantis is a good man and he’s gotten under Trump’s skin because Donnie will never be a good man. If you don’t know the difference between these two men and cannot easily see that one is far greater than the other, then you are a FOOL. DeSantis will be President some day and time is on his side. He will let Trump hang himself with his own tongue and continue working for the people of Florida. The best we can hope for during Trump’s next term as President is that he’ll actually have the guts to drain the swamp. He can be as much of an a*shole as he wants and I’ll bleed in the street fighting for him if he can stop unelected government employees from ruining the country. For those who love to list his positives, now do his negatives. The second list will dwarf the first. Nuff said.

Not sure who said it, but Anne Landers repeated this in a column (or maybe it was her sister, Abby). Great minds think about and discuss concepts and ideals. Mediocre minds talk about events and places. Small minds talk about other people. Trump shrinks every time he does this kind of thing and if you do not think this is the case... consider that you might be missing the concept.

I noticed that Trump called Rubio his friend. He beat up Little Marco pretty hard in '16. But they both got over it and worked together during Trump's time in office. Gov Desantis probably will run against Trump in the 24 primaries, and Trump was right to point out the uphill climb Ron has. Trump is a fighter and that's what makes him a great leader.
