President Joe Biden lamented the decline of mainstream newspapers having the ability to control the political narrative around the world.
“The ability of newspapers to have much impact is de minimis,” he said, using a Latin phrase that means “lacking significance or importance.”
“They’ve been overtaken by the internet,” he continued.
Biden spoke about the internet and newspapers during a fundraiser in Los Angeles on Thursday, appearing with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to help fund Democrats in the midterm elections.
He appeared bewildered by the new media culture allowing everyone to see information for themselves.
“Look what’s happened now. Everything is changing because technology has changed,” he said. “There are no editors anymore.

Gregory Hahn, 47, along with 98 other candidates for jury orientation, showed up at the Harnett County courthouse on Monday. Most prospective jurors, including Hahn, were not wearing masks, he recalled.
“We were in [an assembly room] for about 20 to 30 minutes, shoulder-to-shoulder, with three-quarters of us not wearing masks,” Hahn told Tucker Carlson Tonight. “So the virus — if there was [a] virus out there – contaminated us anyway.”

At least 11 people were killed and 15 more wounded at a military training ground in the Belgorod region in south-western Russia on Saturday when two volunteers opened fire on other troops, the Russian defence ministry has said.
The ministry said in a statement that the two shooters were nationals from a former Soviet republic and had been shot dead after the attack.

Mainstream journalists and even liberal media figures admitted that Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker did better than expected during his Friday night debate against his Democratic opponent Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga. NBC News contributors, local news commentators, former Daily Beast writers, and even MSNBC anchor Mehdi Hasan acknowledged that the Walker’s debate performance was "not as bad as it could have been."

The 2022 midterm elections have brought some specific races into the spotlight, and one of them is in my home state of Georgia, where football great Herschel Walker is running a tight race against incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.). One of the biggest complaints that the left (and some on the right) has leveled against Walker is that he’s dumb, but that’s simply not true. He may not have the silver tongue of some candidates — including Warnock, who uses his oratorical skills to advocate for policies that fly in the face of his pastoral duties — but Walker isn’t unintelligent.

Nevada Democrat senator Catherine Cortez Masto labeled the National Right to Life Committee an "extremist group" in a recent campaign ad attacking the group's endorsement of her Republican opponent, Adam Laxalt. At least one of those Xerox copies had the headline translated into Spanish — all the better for the dealers in question, most of whom are Honduran nationals, to get the message.

Darrell Brooks Jr., the man accused of killing six people and injuring dozens more after driving his SUV into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, last year, is making a mockery of his trial with his disruptive behavior.
Brooks is facing 76 charges, including six counts of first-degree intentional homicide, each of which carries a mandatory life sentence.
On Thursday, Brooks, who represents himself at trial, erroneously argued for the case against him to be dismissed because he did not receive “verified copies” of court documents, Fox News reported.
However, Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Dorow called Brooks’ arguments “ridiculous.”
The Department of Justice clinched its legal win at the Supreme Court, which refused to intervene in the case involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s raid on Mar-a-Lago this past summer. Trump and his legal team are on their own. The Justice Department’s access to the files that were seized during the raid that reportedly contained classified information was restored by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. The special master appointed by Judge Aileen Cannon is also barred from reviewing some 100 documents since that could inflict irreparable damage to the government. For the last eight years, a group of publicly unknown activists in Ukraine have been compiling lists of ‘enemies of the people’ with impunity. Hundreds of thousands have been declared criminals without trial.
