At least 11 people were killed and 15 more wounded at a military training ground in the Belgorod region in south-western Russia on Saturday when two volunteers opened fire on other troops, the Russian defence ministry has said. The ministry said in a statement that the two shooters were nationals from a former Soviet republic and had been shot dead after the attack. The ministry called the incident a terrorist attack. “The two terrorists were eliminated in return fire,” the statement, cited by the Russian news agency Tass, said.

Major Hassan or Hasan, was convicted and sentenced to death. His case is on appeal. I believe he should be hung, with a piglet tied to his genitals.

That sort of thing happened to us too, in the middle east. Terrorists would join our side and then shoot the place up.

I wondered about the early reports of Chechen mercenaries supporting Russia in Ukraine; it didn't make sense as a lot of Chechens have reason to want to kill Russians after the wars in the '90s. The article did not specify which former Soviet republic spawned the shooters but Russia has been pretty brutal with most of its former republics, so no surprise on the shooting.

US billionaire Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday that SpaceX will continue funding Starlink internet service in war-torn Ukraine, apparently reversing course after SpaceX asked the United States military to pick up the tab. SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet services have been a vital source of communication for the country's military during the war with Russia, but as CNN exclusively reported earlier this week, SpaceX warned the Pentagon that it may stop funding the service in Ukraine unless the US military kicks in tens of millions of dollars per month, according to documents obtained by CNN. The letter also requested that the Pentagon take over funding for Ukraine's government and military use

I am pretty sure that I have never praised the Biden Administration. I mean, why would I? Well, I may have found a reason, believe it or not. It seems that the Biden Administration has struck a huge blow against the Chinese tech industry, and it wasn’t even by accident. They did something right, and never let it be said that I am more unfair to liberals than my job naturally requires. I learned about this from a Twitter thread that I ran across on Friday and wanted to take some time to digest the information, both in the thread and by doing some actual, bonafide research to

Former Gov. Chris Christie created a firestorm on ABC News’ “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” on Sunday, with what he had to say about the Jan. 6 Committee. Christie pointed out that, to many Republicans, the Committee doesn’t have any credibility. That’s because they don’t have any real Republicans on the Committee to make any points against the Democratic narrative. The January 6 committee was “resigned to having a credibility problem because of the membership of the committee and the way that was done,” Christie opened by saying. “There are lots of Republicans across this country who just say, there’s nobody there to argue the other side. Former president Barack Obama said Friday that he is open to reforming the Supreme Court to increase Americans’ confidence in the Court, but warned against playing “explicit political games.” Asked during an appearance on Pod Save America whether he would consider reforms to regain voters trust in the Court, Obama said: “I’m open to it.” “I think it has to be thought through,” he said. “One of the arguments we made at the time when [Mitch] McConnell decided that … [Merrick Garland] wouldn’t even get a hearing or a vote, is that if you start playing such explicit political games in the appointment process, it’s hard for people not to feel

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who recently announced he would be leaving his government post as White House chief medical adviser, claimed innocence on the fallout from school shutdowns, namely dramatic learning loss among K-12 students, in an interview that aired Sunday. Speaking to ABC News, the nation’s chief immunologist denied that he had any responsibility in driving the public health consensus that schools should have discontinued in-person instruction for many months on end as a Covid-19 mitigation measure. “Was it a mistake in so many states, in so many localities, to see schools closed as long as they were?” host Jonathan Karl asked.

The polls seem to be showing a lot of good things for Republicans right now. One example of this trend is the new Harvard-Harris poll, which has some fascinating things in it that show why Democrats are going to be in big trouble in the November elections. But even more than the midterms, I think it bodes well for the country; because there are signs that the radical nature of the Democrats is driving more people to the center or the right in this poll, as well. Most respondents — 57 percent — say their financial situation is worsening. Also, 84 percent disagree with Joe Biden and think

With the midterms less than a month away, left-leaning news outlets and political commentators are resorting to dark predictions about the future of the country with warnings of imminent civil war if Republicans retake control of Congress in November. Talk of a second civil war among liberal journalists, television personalities and lawmakers has become increasingly commonplace following the raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home on Aug. 8, after which liberal pundits repeatedly claimed on-air that evolving distrust for the U.S. government among Trump supporters would lead to escalated political violence. The topic resurfaced weeks later when President Biden called his predecessor and "MAGA Republicans" a threat to "the very foundations of our republic"

I’ve got a confession to make. When I saw that Republican Herschel Walker had accepted a debate with Democrat incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, I wasn’t exactly enthused. Yes, to some extent, Walker’s communication issues have been overstated, but no one was ever going to confuse him for a charismatic speaker, and certainly, no one thought he would be a good debater. The running assumption for the month leading up to the event has been simple: Walker would be lucky to get out alive, and absolutely no one was entertaining the possibility that he could excel. Politics is fun, isn’t it? You can play with the truth all you want, and, as long as you’re a member of the right party, you can throw all the crap you want against a wall just to see what sticks. And no one of any significance will say a word. Of course, that’s only true if you’re a Democrat. That’s why when Joe Biden deadpanned that prices would rise if Republicans were elected, no one laughed — out loud, at least. “Here’s the bottom line. So please hear this. Only 33% of Americans would vote to reelect President Biden if the 2024 election were held today — and 54% would cast their ballot for another candidate, according to a Fox News poll released Sunday. The 33% who would vote for Biden — 21% definitely and 12% probably — mark a drop of 3 percentage points since January, while the percentage who would opt for someone else fell from 60% to 54% in that period, the survey found. The poll also shows that while 71% of Democrats would vote to reelect the president, 19% would not, along with 91% of Republicans and 54% of independents.

Ryan, of course, really hopes that Trump will not regain the presidency, for that would mean the definitive end of the controlled-opposition establishment wing of the Republican Party, in which Ryan was once a central figure. But Ryan on Thursday went beyond expressing the hope that Trump would lose to stating confidently that he would. The frequent MSNBC guest offered his incendiary claim as part of a panel discussion about a recent Anti-Defamation League report detailing how many of America’s domestic extremists, including those who trespassed on Capitol grounds on January 6, are from Florida. The segment clearly aimed at demonizing the Republican stronghold state governed by possible 2024 contender Ron DeSantis, a strategy that host Tiffany Cross has routinely employed on her show. Cross really leaned into it this time, introducing the discussion by calling Florida a "haven of hate"
