WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden's public approval rating edged lower this week and was close to the lowest level of his presidency, with just five weeks to go before the Nov. 8 midterm elections, a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll completed on Tuesday found. The two-day national poll found that 40% of Americans approve of Biden's job performance, down from 41% a week earlier. The president's sagging popularity, which drifted as low as 36% in May and June, has helped drive expectations that his Democratic Party will lose control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November, and possibly the Senate

The left is thrilled with what they heard during the second day of oral arguments in the Supreme Court term from new justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson. The case that was getting a lot of attention was an Alabama gerrymandering case, which they were claiming involved racial discrimination in voting policies, and therefore, was a violation of the Voting Rights Act. The redrawn map had one majority Black district out of seven, even though Black voters account for 27 percent of the state’s voting population. The Court of Appeals ordered them to redraw the map, which likely would have helped the Democrats. But the Supreme Court took the case,

Former President Donald Trump is suing CNN in a $475 million defamation lawsuit, according to a complaint filed in federal court on Monday. The lawsuit focuses on the network’s characterization of Trump as being a “racist,” “Russian lackey,” “insurrectionist,” and its “persistent association” of Trump to Adolf Hitler and Nazism. “[T]he time has finally come to hold CNN responsible and legally accountable for their willful deception and defamatory statements made about me and both, directly and indirectly, my strong, devoted, and patriotic supporters,” Trump said in a statement released shortly after his attorneys filed the lawsuit.

Americans fear rising costs will worsen if Democrats retain control of Congress after the midterm election, an Axios-Ipsos poll found over the weekend. Experts project inflation will cost American families $5,520 in 2022. Since the Democrats assumed control of the legislative and executive branches of government, Americans have lost $4,200 in annual income, a recent Heritage Foundation study shows. Sixty-one percent of general election voters believe the economy is in a recession. According to the Ipsos poll, 43 percent of Americans fear that inflation will continue to soar under Democrat rule if the party remains in power on Capitol Hill. Journalists (and other Democrats) are pouncing and seizing on the leaked excerpts from Confidence Man, the forthcoming book about former president Donald Trump by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman. (snip) Days after the 2020 election, which Trump had come to suspect had been rigged by a secret cabal of deep-state operatives, an envelope appeared on the Resolute desk. The president noticed it one day while drinking a Diet Coke and thinking about all the documents he wanted to declassify. Inside was a piece of paper certifying the birth of "Barack Hussein Obama II" at Mombassa Hospital in Kenya on August 4, 1961.
The Climate Crisis … Of 536 AD replies

Earth’s climate is always changing. But despite the warming hysterics’ wild claims, it’s not changing at an alarming rate. Remember, when they cite United Nations reports warning of soaring temperatures and rising sea levels, the projections cover many decades, not just a few years. Of course there was a moment when the climate did change rapidly. It was so long ago, though, none of us can remember it. Yet it happened. Many centuries before the first oil well was drilled. Almost 1,500 years ago. The foundation of the global warming obsession on the left is largely based on U.N. predictions
Ian wasn't supposed to be this way: What

Ian wasn’t supposed to be a giant-killer. The Gulf coast of Florida is not usually a place where notable hurricanes hit. Usually they hit on the east coast of Florida or they beeline it across the Gulf to Alabama or Louisiana, or they just peter out and skitter into the Gulf of Mexico to die. But not this. Ian devastated parts of the Gulf coast of Florida, went inland and continued to wreak havoc there. Small Gulf cities like Englewood and Venice, Ft. Myers and others, were decimated by flooding and fallen trees. Ian started his rampage out in the Caribbean and circuitously sneaked his way into the Gulf.

President Joe Biden told Al Sharpton in a private conversation that he will seek a second term in office and run for president again in 2024, NBC News reported. Biden reportedly told Sharpton of his plans to seek a second term in early September at the end of a meeting with leaders from the nation’s top civil rights organizations. As NBC reported: “I’m going to do it again,” Biden said as he posed for a photograph in the Roosevelt Room with Sharpton, who is also an MSNBC host, according to an official of Sharpton’s National Action Network who recounted Sharpton’s description. “I’m going.”

Chris Cuomo has returned to the airwaves for the first time since he was ousted from CNN, insisting that he has 'learnt lessons' from his ignominious departure, and promising to counter 'groupthink.' 'This show will be topical, but it won't be typical,' said Cuomo, 52, in what was seen as a thinly-veiled dig at his former employer. 'I'm not going to follow the pack - I'm here to expose the game.' Cuomo was fired from CNN in December 2021 after it emerged that he had been secretly advising his brother Andrew, the then-governor of New York, on media strategy when he was confronted with allegations of sexual harassment.

The prosecution and defense painted very different pictures in the joint trial of a group of Jan. 6 defendants, including members of the right-wing Oath Keepers militia, when opening arguments and testimony started on Monday. At Washington, D.C.'s federal courthouse, prosecutors are working to jointly try the defendants with a rare Civil War-era "seditious conspiracy" charge, which carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. They allege that the group meticulously planned for months to use Jan. 6 as a springboard to start an armed insurrection to overthrow U.S. democracy. The defendants, who have pleaded not guilty to charge of seditious conspiracy and other charges, claim that the members

The city of New York continues to face devastating financial peril from remote work, as office buildings could potentially lose $50billion due to people doing their jobs from home. A recent study from the National Bureau of Economic Research shows that property values of office buildings in the city declined nearly 45 percent in 2020 and are forecast to remain about 39 percent below pre-pandemic levels. While many are returning to the office, a company that measures ID card wipes says that only about 46 percent of workers in the region have gone back in full time as of mid-September.

North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan for the first time in five years, prompting a warning for residents to take cover and a temporary suspension of train operations in the northern part of the country. Tuesday's launch was Pyongyang's fifth in 10 days, amid military muscle-flexing by the United States and South Korea, which staged trilateral anti-submarine exercises last week with Japanese naval forces. The Japanese government warned citizens to take cover as the missile appeared to have flown over and past its territory before falling into the Pacific Ocean. It said it did not use any defence measures to destroy the missile.

On Monday evening's edition of CNN Tonight, Republican political strategist and CNN commentator Scott Jennings did some well-deserved mocking of the leftist media's cries of illegitimacy when it comes to the institution of the Supreme Court. He chalked their constant kvetching to the fact that they're "just mad that they're not getting their way every time." Since the media is dominated by leftists, that's not surprising. For all their talk of democracy, the democratic institutions in the United States are only legitimate when they work at the left's behest.

During this massive, angry, satanic storm that nature hurled our way here in Florida this past week, there are a lot of lessons I learned, some of which I'd rather not have learned. Others, I was delighted to learn. My situation was a good one compared to many others. I did evacuate to an area slightly less impacted than the one directly in Hurricane Ian's eye, and we never once lost power. At times, though I thought the house would blow down, nothing budged except branches, leaves, and a few very old oaks. This I learned: Many people are looking for an opportunity to help out
