After decades of speculation surrounding her sexuality, Scooby-Doo's Velma Dinkley has finally been confirmed as lesbian in the latest animated film Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! Clips from the new flick show Velma crushing on a new female love interest named Coco Diablo.
The move comes two years after James Gunn, who penned the live-action Scooby-Doo films, revealed he wrote Velma as 'explicitly gay' before it was 'watered down' by the studio and ultimately removed. Velma is shown becoming instantly infatuated by Coco when she first meets the glamorous woman. In the clip, Velma stops in her tracks at the sight of Coco before blushing profusely.

Whew! I'm glad it was the nerdy girl, and not the HOT girl! (I've never been a Scooby fan, so I don't know any of Scooby's supporting cast's names...)

When I watched Scooby-Doo on Saturday mornings when I was a child, I never once wondered about her sexuality. Of course, that was in the 70's, when kids were allowed to be kids and actually enjoy their childhoods!

Let her be lez for all I care. I never watched that show, dumb as it is. Let’s EVERYBODY be gay in La-La Land! Why not? It’s already lost to God and decency.

So it’s the chunky, homely female. Gaetz is still correct on his statement even when cartoons come into the fray.

Good Grief! Aren't there any straight cartoon characters left?

Oh I love Scooby Do and I'm old. My older son, now 55, watched it all the time. There is no reason for anyone to drag sexuality into a child's cartoon. So many old favorites are being ruined. Woke people are sick.

Sickos, as far as the eye can see. No more normal characters allowed anywhere.

Way back in 1969 when we young 'uns were first tuning in to Scooby and the gang, it never occurred to us that Velma was into other chicks. Libtards just have to insist on ruining everything.

I'm not a big fan but have watched some Scooby-Doo. I never thought Velma was gay; she was just the nerd of the bunch. Now that she's come out of the closet they built for her to come out of, I doubt I'll be watching any more Scooby-Doo. Not that I was ever a big fan.
I was a big Toy Story fan, but since they gratuitously added a gay couple to Buzz Lightyear, I doubt I'll be watching much of that, as wee.

Har. So the show is going to stereotype gay females as chunky, short haired and manly. Interesting, maybe Scooby will come out as gay and only hump males’ legs. As a kid I used to watch it just to see how the plots and poor animation worked out. The villains might get away with their plans if it weren’t for those meddling homosexuals.

And why do this. Will more kids watch the show now? I turn off many shows because of the gay scenes. They distract from the plot and most of the time showing gays does not add to the show. It’s actually a distraction

I always figured she was just a bubble off plumb in the original cartoons. I just figured it was because she was a bit of a tom boy or a total bookworm. They have to ruin everything don't they?

I've always had a thing for nerdy girls. I haven't found them to be Lebanese any more than anyone else. These communists ruin everything they get their woke little paws on.

Honestly, does anyone care about a +50 year cartoon character's orientation? I think we've all got a bit more important things to worry about.

I've liked Scooby Doo since I was kid growing up in the 70s. All we had then was a 20 inch B & W Zenith TV with rabbit ears. The only channels we could get were ABC and PBS. We didn't care because kids back then could play outside without some democrat pervert pedo groomer wanting to snatch us. Never once did my siblings and I wonder what "team" Velma played for. As I got older I always thought she and Shaggy liked each other. Kind of like on the Super Friends I thought Superman and Wonder Woman were a couple. In Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated cartoon which came out in 2010 actually had Velma liking Shaggy. He of course being a teenage boy had no clue. I've got all of the movies and the first series that came out in 1969 Scooby Doo, Where Are You?. Now the left in their zeal to turn everything they touch into bs this latest foray into the depraved and stupid doesn't surprise me in the least.
