Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has a 4-point lead over Democratic challenger Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, according to a new Emerson College poll released on Tuesday. Forty-eight percent of very likely voters said they support the sitting senator, while 44 percent said they will vote for Barnes, according to the poll. After winning the Democratic primary last month, Barnes briefly polled ahead of Johnson. However, Johnson has since closed the gap, and recent polling — including a Spectrum News-Siena College poll also released on Tuesday — showed the candidates within 1 percentage point of each other. Regardless of who they plan to support

JOhnson is a great campaigner, he knows and represents his state and has always been T party grade. The last Statesman in the Senate. HIs ads are very effective. And the backlash against crypto commie liberal standins is in full swing.

Johnson and all the other Republicans are losing. I know because they said so in the many begging-for-dollars emails they send me saying My donation is the only thing that can save them. Why should I send money I don't have to a bunch of politicians who say they are losers?

Barnes is Wisconsin’s Obama. He’s a never-done-anything political hack, and a scofflaw. The question is whether that axis of Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay will produce enough D votes, and Waukesha County shows up big for Johnson and Michels.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will consider adopting more stringent greenhouse gas emissions rules for heavy trucks after Congress passed new incentives to speed the adoption of zero-emission vehicles, the agency told Reuters. (Snip) The Truck & Engine Manufacturers Association, which represent companies like Daimler Trucks (DTGGe.DE), Caterpillar (CAT.N) and Cummins (CMI.N), previously raised concerns the EPA proposal could boost costs and result in customers keeping "their higher emitting trucks longer." EPA will be issuing a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking to consider more stringent GHG standards for model years 2027 through 2029 in December. EPA Office of

The Washington Monument has been temporarily closed after a man vandalized the national landmark with profanities and red paint. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the unnamed male suspect splashed the base of the historical monument with red paint and wrote an obscene message across the side of the structure. “The United States Park Police has an adult male in custody for vandalizing the base of the Washington Monument with paint,” the United States Park Police said in a statement obtained by ABC News. “The area at the base of the monument will be temporarily closed.” It is currently

If you thought parts shortages couldn't get any worse for the auto industry than they did last year, then it's time to hit reset. We've seen multiple car companies, including international giants like Honda and Toyota, struggle to deliver vehicles simply because they can't source the components they need. The same is true with Ford, which announced this week that up to 45,000 vehicles will be held in its inventory this quarter until they receive essential parts—mainly chips. The Blue Oval has made use of Kentucky Speedway's many lots to store its many trucks until they can be sent

Since the beginning of 2022, it's gotten way more expensive to take out a mortgage, hold credit card debt, or get a loan of any kind. New data suggests the surge has only just started — and it could add even more pain in the form of job cuts and smaller raises. The Federal Reserve's inflation fight hit a fork in the road when the Consumer Price Index was updated on Tuesday. Had inflation cooled more than expected in August, the central bank might've eased up on its interest rate increases and the economy just might've avoided a growth recession. That

For the past few months, viewers of “This Week” — ABC’s Sunday-morning public-affairs program — have watched anchors Martha Raddatz and Jonathan Karl roam far beyond the studio, doing interviews with newsmakers in places like Lviv, Ukraine, and Arizona’s border with Mexico. Remote broadcasts are hardly a new concept in TV news, but they’re unusual for Sunday morning panel shows — a genre built around the concept of a cozy Washington-insiders conclave. These on-the-road segments reflect a bit of rethinking and tweaking after years of drift and decline. For decades, Sunday morning’s Big Four — NBC’s “Meet the Press,” CBS’s

At the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, hundreds of world leaders, royals, and dignitaries of every shape crowded Westminster Abbey, the seating chart is imbued with meaning. Still, the position of U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden was a huge surprise as they were stationed 14 rows back. My husband, who was a Marine during the Vietnam War, was always talking about the IQ levels of fellow soldiers, and he would express surprise at the low level of intelligence of some draftees. We would then get into arguments on the validity of IQ testing, which I questioned did not take into consideration an individual’s environment. As was inevitable. I’ll have an article on Ken Burns exploiting the Holocaust to call for open borders and bash Republicans while covering up FDR’s role in the Holocaust later this week, but the sheer awfulness of it can be summed up in this paragraph from the equally antisemitic Guardian which never stops calling for the destruction of the Jewish State or justifying the murder of Jews. It may be Burns’s most didactic film yet as it ends provocatively with images of Dylann Roof, who shot and killed nine African American congregants at a church in South Carolina; white supremacists marching with flaming torches in Charlottesville, Virginia, chanting

His later work wasn’t as good but it was still damned good. The latest example is how he’s used his upcoming documentary, The US and the Holocaust, to bash modern Republicans and cover for WWII-era Democrats.

U.S. doctors should regularly screen all adults under 65 for anxiety, an influential health guidelines group proposed Tuesday. It's the first time the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has recommended anxiety screening in primary care for adults without symptoms. The proposal is open for public comment until Oct. 17, but the group usually affirms its draft guidance. The recommendations are based on a review that began before the Covid-19 pandemic, evaluating studies showing potential benefits and risks from screening. Given reports of a surge in mental health problems linked with pandemic isolation and stress, the guidance is "very timely," said Lori Pbert, a task force member and co-author.
