Are US Firearm Deaths Overstated?

Original Article

Some view any unwillingness to increase gun safety regulation for the sake of "the children" — the sine qua non of virtue-signaling — as "evil." But can a complex, multi-faceted issue like national gun policy be accurately analyzed along a single dimension to the benefit of all citizens? No responsible gun-owner debates the lethality of firearms or the need to exercise caution when using any dangerous device, from kitchen disposals to chainsaws. Nor is it likely any would oppose manufacturers' efforts to make firearms as safe as possible. What is contested are regulations that restrict responsible use of firearms under the guise of safety

Comments:

The author looks closely at the accidental deaths from "firearms", and discovers that 82% are attributed to something other than a device which uses powder to propel a projectile. Sounds fishy as heck.
So, what gives? Air rifles? Almost none of those have the energy to cause serious harm beyond an eye injury, let alone death. So what is going on? What is being fraudulently attributed to "firearms"?

I know that they over count school shooting deaths. Anything within a several block radius of a school is considered a school shooting now. Very disingenuous definition. They also refuse to deal with the black market in guns as well, preferring to go after the Law Abiding folks who want to purchase guns and ammo. It is the crooks/gangs who cause most of the shooting violence in this nation, particularly the blue cities with the tightest gun control laws.

All I know is that none of my guns were ever used to kill anyone, so they can fudge their numbers for someone else. I'm not accepting the blame (or the punishment) for the actions of others.

In Atlanta a guy was killed by a pellet gun. Those pellets can have enough kinetic energy to sever an artery. There are some political ads claiming that the leading cause in the death of young people is "gun violence." Don't know but I'd bet that drug overdoses and physician errors might be as deadly as anything. But when I cross The Rainbow Bridge I don't care about which category I'm in.

One of the things characterizing the Biden administration is incoherence. Biden is frequently completely unintelligible, mumbling sounds to himself and his audience. Kamala offers wordy, banal phrases that fail to hide that her premise, conclusion, and argument are all identical. And Karine Jean-Pierre, despite having her eyes glued to her notes most of the time, is the Sergeant Schultz of press secretaries, for she knows nothing most of the time. It’s hardly surprising, therefore, to learn that the Biden White House has purged over 30% of the people allowed press passes…none of whom belong to the major MSM outlets.

The Chevron doctrine is a rule adopted by the Supreme Court in 1984. It says that when the language of a statute is ambiguous, a court must defer to the regulatory agency's interpretation and may not substitute its own judgment. The Supreme Court has begun saying "enough" and has developed some caveats to check this game. It seems that the sexually lurid fantasies of Tarek bin Zayid, a renowned jihadist who spearheaded the conquest of Spain in the eighth century, have finally been fulfilled. When Tarek and thousands of other North African Muslim marauders first landed on the southernmost tip of Spain in A.D. 711, Tarek sought to further entice the men, who were already lusting after booty and plunder, by citing the women of Spain, who were supposedly waiting to welcome the Muslims with open arms. However, according to Wired, the venerable technology magazine, when homeowners work with law enforcement to turn over Ring footage of criminals on their (or their neighbors’) property, they are engaging in vigilantism…and are probably racists, too. Aside from being a witless perversion of language, it reveals the anti-black racism at work in leftist circles. According to Dictionary.com, a core element of being a vigilante is to act outside of the law: noun 1. a member of a vigilance committee.
