King Charles III delivered his first address Friday as the monarch of England following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
“I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow,” the King said in a video stream from Buckingham Palace.
“Throughout her life, Her Majesty The Queen – my beloved Mother – was an inspiration and example to me and to all my family, and we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother,” he continued. In the speech, the King gave his son William, the new heir to the throne, the title of Prince of Wales

Does the new title come with a pay raise, or is it just a lateral transfer?

I'm not crazy about Charles' views on most things, but I'll be hoping that he is a good king that carries on Queen Elizabeth's traditions and manners and silence about all thing political.

Quote from the article: "Markle did not attend the Queen’s beside amid the ongoing tensions in the family, as her and Harry left the U.K." Can't the National Review find a line editor to correct this horrendous grammatical mistake? "Her" as the subject of a sentence is so obviously wrong. This article never should have been released containing that error.

Agreed, #2. May he be a better king than he was a prince.

There has to be a formal investiture to become Prince of Wales. Charles's was investiture in 1969.

Let’s hope he lets his insanity go and serves the best interests of the people and not his own wacky ideas.

The main guiding principle of the English Royal Family has been - don't rock the boat. QE II lived with that all her life, So did her father. Her uncle ( Edward VIII) tried to make waves and we know what happened. The reasonable expectation is business as usual for another 15/20 years.

#9, there is no British constitution. The monarchy exists through the kindness of British parliament, and if Charles the T**d continues to be bereft of common sense, he could be removed.
Queen Elizabeth knew her place as part of the British governance system, and I doubt Charles has a clue.
I will say the U.S. and England match up in one way.
Each has an adulteress as wife of the leader. And each has a figurehead as a leader.

I listened to it twice. I thought it very moving on the subject of his mother and had some serious points on other matters.
He will no longer be involved in the charities and advocacy groups he participated in as Prince of Wales - good, too political for a king.
He publicly confirmed his wife of 16 years, Camilla as Queen Consort
He will not reject his position as Head of the Church of England,
William has been "created" Prince of Wales - so he gets the titles, income, and responsibilities right away - investiture party to be held later.
Harry and Megan are "making a new life overseas" - that's it for the Gruesome Twosome then. Door = shut. Bye.
He made a point of including the family of nations and the Commonwealth in his remarks - good move.
All in all a successful speech, IMHO.

"President Joe Biden said Friday that he would be attending the Queen’s funeral, though he didn’t know the “details” yet."
But added, "Freddie Mercury was an incredibly gifted showman and he will be missed."

He should have changed his name. First two Charles were idiots (failures). Trend is there.

According to Bill Stevenson, Jill's ex, Joe is an adulterer as well. So, #10, Joe and Charles are not only married to adultresses, both are adulterers themselves.

Harry, hopefully, will feel some remorse for he and his chaos-loving wife's drama-queen antics and the way they treated his grandmother. Charles is a WEF globalist. I have no hope for him.

I have to hand it to King Chuck, he did all right. He surprised me on this one. He didn't act like a putz.

That silly spiteful man has waited his ENTIRE life to get where he is today. I’ll bet he read all those Sun and Guardian articles about his mother passing him over and anointing William as her successor. Hope they hurt his feelings and made him think a little, but fifty years of thumb-twiddling and waiting, just waiting, can make a person do and say some very stupid things.

Unfortunately, I don't share the hopes of other posters here. Charles is infatuated with climate change, defending the muslim religion even while they burn Britain to the ground. Diana said he was unfit to be king, and I believe she was correct. Maybe he will grow up, but with the rottweiler mistress as his spouse, I doubt it.

When did they change the rule that divorcees no longer lose their place for King or Queen?? It disqualified Queen Elizabeth’s brother. Charles & Camilla both were divorced. Skip Charles let William in. I can’t stand to look at him he or her they make me ill.
