NEW YORK — Payment processor Visa Inc. said Saturday that it plans to start separately categorizing sales at gun shops, a major win for gun control advocates who say it will help better track suspicious surges of gun sales that could be a prelude to a mass shooting.
But the decision by Visa, the world’s largest payment processor, will likely provoke the ire of gun rights advocates and gun lobbyists, who have argued that categorizing gun sales would unfairly flag an industry when most sales do not lead to mass shootings. It joins Mastercard and American Express, which also said they plan to move forward with categorizing gun shop sales.

More paperwork dumped on small businesses that will do nothing about the mentally unstable people who need treatment.

I will drop my Mastercard and American Express now! They will give the info to the Biden Admin for national gun registration.
And I won't buy from gun stores ever.

Be careful. They're also "categorizing" sales of lawn furniture, hair spray, and catcher's mitts.
Use cash for those things too.

My dealer here said they are already onto the fact people will use cash. He said some guns they may not allow to be cash purposes. He had been warning us about this.

Of course all I have ever purchased from a sporting goods store were archery equipment and baseball stuff. Never any firearms related equipment.

It could preclude mass gun seizures by the IRS/FBI of legal guns owned by legal gun owners. Do not use a credit card to purchase them. Tyranny is growing.

I suspect they will start losing some sales as online ammo/gun sellers migrate to 'friendlier' methods... don't know if Paypal, Venmo, Google Pay or Amazon Pay report like they are planning on doing...but some smart person will come up with something to rub the feds collective noses into...and everyone saying 'use cash' will work for walk in sales, but how about the poor business that relies on online sales???Or is this just another ploy for Biteme to put some more small businesses out of action???

By that logic there are thousands of potential mass shooters out here. Why pay a premium charge per round and buy 20 at a time?

I have one more comment. Given the scrutiny of Visa, Mastercard, AmEx etc., would they have categorized and reported Hunter Biden?

It will have little affect on anything. Most gun dealers already charge a transaction fee on top of the purchase price to buy a gun if you use a credit card, so that most gun buyers pay cash anyway. This will just make more purchases cash transactions.
That is one reason why the Democrat Communists are going to push the new executive order that Biden signed, that will make all currency digital. Then they can track us and control the use of OUR money. I can only assume that they will make us turn in our cash for digital currency and that they will declare all cash that is not turned in as unusable non currency after a certain date.
Keep your cash. I'm would assume that the black markets that spring up will trade with it.

Cash is fine. I can do that. However, this does not help with online purchases. I purchase most of my supples on line. Mostly because many items are not in stock. I do wonder as mentioned above whether Discover is included in this as it was not mentioned. I’d Discover opts out I will get one of their cards.

No need to track gun and ammo sales. Just assume that whenever a demoslut is elected, gun and ammo sales will increase.

#26 is on it. Do what you can now to accumulate negotiable items. Junk silver, ammunition, durable food .
The reason I say this is that greedy (and financially illiterate) Politicians are stealing everything they can while they can, and when the One World Economic system is finished being implemented, the US currency will be worthless.
There are ways to go ... there always are. Do the work. Or don't.
I believe their are some interesting and volatile days ahead.

You can bet that the first thing they will track will be sales of .223 or 5.65 ammo preparatory to confiscating those evil “assault” weapons. They will also know you own a 9mm if you order ammo for that caliber. You know, that pistol Joe said can “blow a lung out out of your body.”

Just a new category being tracked. How do you think you get different percentages back from purchases at grocery stores, gas stations, travel, etc.? The issue now is the use of that data. States can pass laws outlawing such a practice. They can also create a requirement for the credit card issuers to notify each card holder of any recorded purchases and those who were given/sold the information. The cancellation of cards due to gun purchase or gun ownership can also be outlawed. The sorry fact it, this is all private information in private transactions...and anyone can buy it. Read the fine print in the voluminous terms of service.
