Who must feel like the biggest fool in Washington, right now?
Probably Sen. Joe Manchin, the independent-minded Democrat from the bright red state of West Virginia, who cut a deal with his fellow Democrats on the "Inflation Reduction Act," gave them his vote with conditions -- and is now getting stiffed.
According to The Hill:
More than 70 House Democrats are signing on to a letter pressing Democratic leaders to not include a side deal with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on reforming the permit process for energy projects in a bill funding the government.

He should immediately resign in shame, castigate the entire D party, and beg his constituents for mercy.
Barring that, I hope we never again have to be subjected to the utterings of this "maverick".

Joe gave the American people the big F and now his fellow dems are giving him the big F. Karma, except we need to be energy INDEPENDENT. There will come a time for more green energy to be viable. That time is not now. Cold, dark winter spent huddled around a candle munching on crickets. Get the picture? Vote these asshats OUT!

Manchin, you can still stiff the dim party now by switching parties. All of the dim-controlled committees would be shut down in a heart beat. Then comes your attempted and failed re-election, you can always consider running for county dog catcher in your home town.

Was it a stupid move on Manchin's part or was blackmail or death threats against his family? What ever it was, it ended his career, even the Republicans don't want him although he probably knows a lot of things that would cause problems for the Democrats. Stay out of Rock Creek park Joe.

President George H.W. Bush reneged on his promise to us: "Read my lips, no new taxes" based on Democrats' promises that were not fulfilled. Manchin should have remembered this. Either Manchin actually trusted his fellow Democrats, or he has scrumptiously received much more in return for his vote that notwithstanding the shame of his apparent stupidity, he believes he's come out alright.

Manchin took a blind risk, expecting that he would be thanked by fellow Democrats. He also is clearly content with all the bennies he has gotten from his service in Congress and felt he could give them a leg up and not suffer for it. Anyone who expects honesty and decency from Congressional Democrats need their head examined.

You might think McConnell would be talking to Manchin to get him to defect, but you know he is not. McConnell is content being the Minority Leader. He won’t make an effort to try and lure him to the Republican side. Old Mitch likes things just the way they are. He continues to reap the personal benefits of his office with little work. He is a lazy old asp content to sun himself on a rock.

Manchin is a man outside his generation. We don't like RINOs, Dems don't like Democrats who put country before the party. They wore him down, promised him redress, then stabbed him in the back.
I'm not saying Manchin is proto-Republican; but he's is a lot closer to us than he is to modern Democrats. Just keep in mind, Democrats talk a lot about 'protecting Democracy'. But they mean something very different than the traditional definition. To them, Democracy is when a nation is totally controlled by the Democrat Party. It's 1984, all over again. Amongst themselves, they have changed the definition of a word that once meant Freedom and Responsibility and changed it amongst them selves to mean tyranny and oppression.
Democrats should be called the Autocrat Party, because that is their truth.

To those still advocating that Manchin switch parties, I say hell no. He's a fool and tool, and when we've already got Murkowski, Collins, Romney, and a few other untrustables too quickly willing to turn coat against their own party, why would we want one more just like them? Besides, current polling in WV, where Manchin was once considered unbeatable, now show him as a political dead man walking. So let him remain a Rat so that he can lose to a Conservative in '24.

It's how he would save himself,
It's how he could better rebalance power.
Somethings make so much sense,
