Actor Alec Baldwin appeared on CNN after the latest developments in his fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on a New Mexico movie set last October and once again showed that former President Donald J. Trump continues to live rent-free in his head. Following a newly-released FBI forensics report that concluded that the 64-year-old television and film star pulled the trigger on the “prop” gun that brought an end to Hutchins’ life during the filming of the western “Rust,” Baldwin played the victim by claiming that he feared that Trump would “instruct” his followers to act out violently against him after the tragic accident.

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa told Fox News on Friday that Mitch McConnell’s glum warning about the GOP’s Senate prospects in the midterms were an effort “to wake people up.” The Kentucky Republican Senator had said on Thursday, “I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different. They’re statewide. Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.” Many interpreted this as the minority leader attempting to downplay expectations, and were not pleased: But Grassley painted a rosier picture as he attended the Iowa State Fair:
We are going to take back the majority because of the fact

DES MOINES — Former Vice President Mike Pence is tapping the brakes on his willingness to testify before the House Jan. 6 committee, saying he has to ponder “profound constitutional issues” and the partisan nature of the probe before agreeing to any request.
Mr. Pence recently surprised political analysts when he said he would consider testifying to the Democratic-led committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, chaos at the Capitol. But in an exclusive interview with The Washington Times, Mr. Pence took a more cautious line, saying there is a myriad of issues he must sort out before he agrees to talk to the panel.

Mike Pence fueled the flames of a future run for president by appearing alongside Chuck Grassley at the Iowa State Fair this week and making a visit to the senator's home to 'talk issues.'
The former vice president and Senator Grassley were pictured on Friday sheltering from heavy rain during the state's annual August fair in Des Moines, Iowa.
On Saturday, Pence, 63, continued his swing through the state by joining the Bremer County GOP's second annual 'grill and chill' event to promote Republican candidates for the midterm elections.

Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said Friday on CNN’s “The Lead” that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo no longer had a moral center. Kinzinger said, “Here’s what I think happens in a lot of cases. this is the FBI situation with the Republicans. You have a lot of members that know Donald Trump is a liar. They know he is insane. They stay kind of quiet.” (snip) Kinzinger concluded, “I gotta ask you, Jake, if Trump is so tough, if he’s so good at everything he does, how has he been such a victim of the deep state so many times?"

Sixty percent of Democrats view outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) favorably amid potential presidential campaign ambitions, a YouGov poll found this week.
After Cheney lost the Wyoming Republican primary by nearly 40 points on Tuesday, the next day she announced she is considering a presidential bid in 2024.
Perhaps Cheney’s best hope of winning the presidency is with Democrat voters because her favorability among Democrats far outweighs her support among Republicans and independents.

In an interview Wednesday, the president of USA Gymnastics announced plans to boycott states that have limited abortion because pro-life views do not align with USAG’s values.
Speaking with the Associated Press, USAG president Li Li Leung said abortion laws will be a major factor in whether a state is chosen to host future events. (Snip) Leung stepped into her role as the head of USA Gymnastics in 2019 with the hope of rebuilding trust in the organization after it allowed a pedophile USAG team doctor Larry Nassar and other pedophiles to molest hundreds of young gymnasts for decades.

Can the FBI be trusted? A Federalist analysis of agency lies over the last decade is an unequivocal no.
FISA Warrants -In the summer of 2016, FBI bureaucrats launched a deep-state operation, known as Crossfire Hurricane, to thwart then-candidate Trump’s presidential ambitions. It began by targeting Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos and quickly branched out as bureaucrats expanded their surveillance. The spy agency used the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) as a legal pretext to investigate and spy on Papadopoulos, in addition to former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, and former Trump adviser Carter Page.

There are certain images and names that, when viewed or imagined, immediately scream “America!” Brands such as Coca-Cola and Levi’s certainly fit this bill, as do McDonald’s and Major League Baseball. But there is arguably no brand that is more iconic of America and our culture than that of the Walt Disney Company. Whether it’s images of characters such as Donald Duck, or the mere silhouette of Mickey Mouse’s ears, or even old photos of the great Walt Disney himself, people around the globe immediately associate Disney and its brand with us: America.
It is for this reason that the hideous transformation of the Disney Company

The foreseen “big red wave” may still be coming for the House in the midterms, but there has long been a question of how those tides may impact control of the Senate.
While Fox News’ Jessica Tarlov argued “do not reduce” Democratic legislative accomplishments, her defense of the left’s chances in November seemed to highlight a broader issue faced by the GOP. The co-host of “The Five” contended the favorability for Democrats after her colleague Jeanine Pirro railed to the contrary, laying emphasis on President Joe Biden’s low job approval and perceived constant breaks from his duties.

Melania Trump was briefly spotted last week leaving celebrity hairdresser Frederic Fekkai’s salon in Manhattan, sporting an immaculate blow-dry.
This was just days after FBI agents had stormed the Trumps’ magnificent Mar- a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida (dubbed the ‘Winter White House during his presidency), looking for classified documents, allegedly rummaging through Melania’s underwear drawer in the process.
But, if the former First Lady, 52, felt any anger or emotion about the raid on her home, as always, she wasn’t showing it.

Following a decision by the Minnesota Public Schools, a new policy has been enacted that will lay off white teachers first — if the district needs to downsize, white teachers will be fired first.
As my colleague Jeff Charles reported, the agreement states:
“Starting with the Spring 2023 Budget Tie-Out Cycle, if excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the District shall excess the next least senior teacher, who is not a member of an underrepresented population.”
