Residents of a Dallas apartment complex woke up to the sound of gunfire early Tuesday morning (August 16).
The chilling security camera video shows two people scrambling to escape the bullets when a gunfight broke out at the Langford apartment complex.
Two men were found dead and another was hospitalized after a shooting in far northwest Dallas on Friday morning, police said.
Dallas police said officers responded around 7:30 a.m. to a "call for service" at the Timbers Apartments in the 3500 block of Timberglen Road.
He or she is going to jail. All those Rounds and those tenants around and across from him...

That's why a thirty or fifty round magazine is needed for the untrained to be able to 'spray and pray' meaning shoot wildly and hope you hit something because you have no skill at shooting. That's ridiculous and dangerous right or wrong.

Good guy defending himself or a drug dealer defending himself? Don't really know, but there were a hell of a lot of bullet holes afterwards. Looks like two or three 17 round magazines dumped.

Apartment walls are like tissue paper. Other residents could have easily been killed. It is a miracle that no one but perps were shot. I do not fault the shooter for defending himself and home. But the comments from the woman who wants now to move are short-sighted. Other would-be robbers are forewarned and where can she go to be free of the risk of crime? Nowhere.

Article states that this was a 'robbery gone wrong'.
Newsflash... robberies START OUT wrong. This one actually went sort of right. If only the victim had better skills.

Firing down the hall only seriously endangers the room at the end of the hall. Those grazing shots will not do much, will be soaked up in the wall.
Still stupid and very bad marksmanship. Makes me think this was a drug dealer doing the shooting, or other mindless incompetent.

I would strongly suggest that drugs were involved. Sadly, Carrollton is being invaded by scurn from Dallas. If you plan on shooting inside a building, please buy Frangible Ammunition. Costs a bit more, but you'll save in lawsuits from injured parties' and their loved ones.

I don't think we have the whole story here; I can't imagine anyone w/a valid CCL using their weapon so haphazardly.

Dallas city council woman Cara Mendelsohn, "...something has gone terribly wrong in our society." You can blame it on Democrats, staring with LBJ and his "Great Society." This was the start of welfare, paying single mothers to pop out as many dependents as possible, and the destruction of the black family unit, all to get their votes and keep them on the plantation. You reap what you sow, and the chickens are coming home to roost 50 years later. This country has gone to hell in a hand basket. Democrats should be so proud of themselves.

This is unconscionable. The homeowner should have to pay for the spackle to fill those holes.

Officers asked the tenant, "Why did you shoot 34 bullets at those thugs?". Reply. "Sir, thats all the ammo I had!". Seriously, I agree with #12, whats the backstory to this event. Message to the tenants who now want to leave... anyone who purposely lives in a hellhole like this, your next place aint gonna be any better.

In Texas, the state stopped issuing CCLs years ago in lieu of a Handgun License in order to legally carry a firearm. Today, Texas allows open carry and Handgun Licenses are no longer necessary; however, possessing a Handgun License can work for you or against you, depending on your actions. The license means the holder has been tested on both the Texas Penal Code's Chapter 9, use of force, including deadly force statute, and basic handgun proficiency, so the possession of a Handgun License means that the holder has a duty to know and follow the law. During my years as a Texas Peace Officer, force, including deadly force, was authorized "to prevent the consequences of theft" (e.g., stop a criminal from fleeing with your Rolex) and for "Criminal Mischief in the night." As of 2022, the language has changed but the basics are the same in that deadly force in Texas can be used to protect land or tangible, movable property in order to prevent a person from fleeing immediately after committing Burglary, Aggravated Robbery (e.g., robbery with a firearm), Robbery, and Theft at nighttime from escaping. Example: You are mugged at gunpoint and your personal property is taken. Even if your assailant is trying to flee, deadly force may be used immediately or in hot pursuit). One loses their defense to prosecution if during the use of deadly force, an innocent third party is recklessly injured or killed. Those statutes are specific only to Texas, although other states may have similar provisions.

Thanks for the info, #16. Our law here in Georgia is similar. The state also just passed constitutional carry (no CCL needed if you are legally entitled to own a firearm.) I will keep my license in case I travel out of state.

Perspective..these guys run away after trying to rob the shooter's home & he opened fire which is legal in Texas right? However, the sad fact remains that the shooter rang off shots like that in an apartment building where those bullets could have hit anybody in those units. He needs to get more training time for sure!
