Three thieves were caught on tape barging into a Brooklyn church on Sunday where controversial bishop Lamor Whitehead—an ally to Mayor Adams—was preaching and snatched $400,000 worth of jewelry off of him and his wife. Whitehead, the Rolls-Royce-driving bishop who recently tried to broker a deal for the surrender of a man accused of a subway murder to the mayor, was preaching at Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministry on Remsen Ave. near Avenue D in Canarsie about 11:15 a.m. Sunday when three masked bandits stormed into the church, the pastor and cops confirmed.(Snip)The armed men, who can be seen in the video

There's video available in this version of the article too. Did they consult with Jussie on the production?

How in the world does a bishop have this much jewelry?
I guess with a wife, he's not Catholic.

If you live in a lawless democrat city like NYC you are a fool to be wearing that bling. Warning. If you live in NYC don't leave your house. You could be killed.

This seems odd to me. The dude sitting in the corner doesn't looked phased at all. He's just sitting there, it looks staged but maybe there were told not to move? $400K of jewelry is a lot of jewelry, so strange.

Well, as the late New York preacher Reverend Ike once said, "...the lack of money is the root of all evil, so in your pockets dig deep..." when the collection plate come around. The robbers no longer are concerned with the root of all evil.

Wow! I can't remember the last time I saw Canarsie mentioned in a news story.
When we were kids - - we'd say, "I'll knock you from here to Canarsie!" - - because Canarsie was considered to be the remotest part of Brooklyn. It's nice to see that neighborhood getting a bit of ink - - even if it's for a jewel heist!

He appears to be a lot like those TV evangelists. I never support stealing someone's private property, but in this case I'm having a lot of trouble caring. Like those TV guys, he found a good scam and he's cashing in on it.
And we wonder why Christianity is dying.

Give all you have to the poor and follow me said Jesus. Apparently this bishop is a follower of Satan and sold his soul for bling. This is not the example of Christianity you are looking for.

Add to stupidity mix is the fact that this is Noo Yawk. The thieves know that if caught, they'll be back out on the street within the hour.

If I attend that place of worship, you can bet the bishop better look as impoverished as I am or I'll be suspicious of where he obtains his money for the lifestyle. Looks like more of a 'gangsta bishop' to me I would find another place to worship.

Seems to happen a lot in POC (Black) churches. The "Bishop", who sometimes has no religious training, gets rich off the back of the Black church(s) while the members of the congregations remain poor. They freely give money to their Pastors and Bishops like they are some kind of crime lords holding salvation and eternity over the congregations heads if they don't donate. The $400,000 in bling and the Rolls Royce car are meant to add to the prestige of their churches but just show misplaced priorities to many in the community (not associated with the church).

1976 was not only the bicentennial--it was the year of Car Wash with Richard Pryor, playing Daddy Rich.
Duane: Why don't you tell everybody how you "got so rich" Daddy Rich? This is one [n-word] you ain't fooling! I'm onto the game you're running to these people here.
Daddy Rich: Guess you don't believe in my church. The Church of Divine Economic Spirituality.
Duane: Yeah, that's right. I don't believe in it.
Daddy Rich: So, you don't believe in God?
Duane: Not "your" God.
Daddy Rich: My God's doing all right by me.
Until the debbil comes.

No, God is not ‘smirking’ over this,
He is grieving.
He is a just and Holy God.
