A new study is challenging the long-standing theory that a lack of serotonin in the brain causes depression, as well as the value of antidepressants that are designed to address the problem. Researchers at the University College London said evidence doesn’t support the underlying idea, originated 60 years ago, that a “chemical imbalance” in the brain produces a lack of serotonin. That imbalance is what has long driven prescription drugs for antidepressants, known as selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. MSNBC analyst Malcolm Nance predicted that a litany of horrors and injustices would certainly follow if Republicans were successful in their efforts to retake control of the House, the Senate, or both in November’s midterm elections.
Nance spoke with Sirius XM radio host Dean Obeidallah on Friday about the upcoming elections, and he made it clear that the seriousness of the predicament in which Democrats find themselves could not be oversold.

I wrote a week ago about the Fox poll that had the Republicans up by three points in the generic ballot. According to the Fox News models, that advantage would translate to a GOP win, with a gain of 23 seats.
Now, other polls are coming in even higher than that.
First, we have the Trafalgar Group poll on the generic Congressional ballot. That has the Republicans up by more than eight points among likely voters, Republicans 48.3 percent to Democrats 40.2. That’s with even a greater percentage of Democrats
