Trump Was Right About Europe’s Dangerous
Dependence On Russian Energy

Original Article

For years, Europe has depended on Russia for more than 40 percent of its natural gas imports as well as a large portion of its oil and solid fuels. Now that Russia is embroiled in war and facing sanctions from multiple nations, it has tightened its supply to the European Union. As a result, Europeans are struggling with an energy crisis that is forcing millions to dim their lights and ration hot water. One Washington Post article soberly announced, “Europe braces for gas ‘nightmare’ as pipeline from Russia shuts off,”

It turns out Trump was right about most everything.

Things were fine until NATO decided it had to assist Ukraine defend itself from Russia with an eye on NATO membership. I don't understand the strategic thinking in this. I suspect the Euros thought Putin wouldn't mind some noise in his direction...then it turned into something else. Then toss in the NATO addition of Finland and Sweden. I don't know how the vulnerability of their primary energy supply could be an oversight.

In August 2021, the Los Angeles City Council and Mayor Eric Garcetti, with little ostensible political opposition, passed and approved an ordinance that would “require COVID-19 vaccination for all current and future city employees” with limited exceptions for those granted medical or religious exemptions. The stated rationale was that “COVID-19 continues to pose a significant public health risk. … Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent transmission and limit COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths. … Unvaccinated employees are at a greater risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19 within the workplace, and risk transmission to the public that depends on City services.”

In the past fifty years, we’ve had precisely ten different First Ladies in America. Some of them spent their time in the White House mostly under the radar, with Rosalynn Carter and both Laura and Barbara Bush falling into this category. Others such as Nancy Reagan with her fondness for astronomy and Betty Ford with her personal challenges were somewhat quirkier, but they were likeable and mostly unremarkable. Both Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama could be outspoken and controversial, but at least they were mostly clever and competent. And then we have Jill Biden. The adage “opposites attract” may be true in some cases,

A group of establishment Republicans released a report last week claiming to make “The Conservative Case that Trump Lost and Biden Won the 2020 Presidential Election.” It is not news that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. The report’s strawman-slaying title is intended to suggest that concerns about the integrity of that election are without merit. But the report itself simply goes through court decisions and recounts, listing how they turned out.It focuses on questions about “fraud,” rather than the significant and extremely well-substantiated concerns Republican voters have about the election.

It’s not often we see Democrats complimenting political adversaries or admitting their own policies and stances were incorrect. To be fair, the same could be said about most Republicans, but this stubbornness and defiance appear much more frequently on the left. When was the last time we heard Liz Warren say something nice about Ted Cruz? And can anyone recall a nice thing AOC has said about Lauren Boebert? But for Democrats, there is a hierarchy of antagonism. Figures such as Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio are seen as rivals. Others such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Clarence Thomas are seen as enemies. And then we have Donald Trump,

President Joe Biden landed in the Middle East on Wednesday with high hopes for his first visit to the region as commander-in-chief. The agenda included revitalizing a nuclear deal with Iran, pursuing peace in Yemen, and desperately pleading to the Saudis for increased oil production. While the Biden administration has sought to throw cold water on claims that his first trip to the Arabian Peninsula is an effort to produce more oil, the president himself nearly said as much in The Washington Post. The Brittney Griner story has been one which tears at us from two sides. When we hear about an American being detained in a foreign country for offenses which are considered minor here in the U.S., we often become sympathetic, depending on the infraction, of course. And when we learn that the country holding that prisoner is an archrival or enemy such as China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia, our sympathies become that much stronger. In the case of Brittney Griner, however, things aren’t that simple. Griner, who has been detained in a Russian prison since her arrest at a Moscow airport for possession of cannabis oil

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday held that state election officials’ use of some 500-plus drop boxes during the 2020 general election violated Wisconsin law. While the court’s decision represents a (partial, as we will soon see) victory for election integrity, the split 4-3 decision and the substance of the dissent reveal that having a fair electoral process no longer “transcends any individual partisan interest” — something less than two decades ago Jimmy Carter touted as a universal truth in the bipartisan Commission on Election Reform report “Building Confidence in U.S. Elections.”

Justin Bieber’s mother had presumably just become pregnant with the future pop star, who wouldn’t be born until the following March. And tennis stars Steffi Graf and Pete Sampras were preparing to conquer their competition at the upcoming fortnight at Wimbledon. Indeed, June 1993 was a very long time ago. According to the Fox News models, that advantage would translate to a GOP win, with a gain of 23 seats. Now, other polls are coming in even higher than that. First, we have the Trafalgar Group poll on the generic Congressional ballot. That has the Republicans up by more than eight points among likely voters, Republicans 48.3 percent to Democrats 40.2.
