The Brittney Griner story has been one which tears at us from two sides. When we hear about an American being detained in a foreign country for offenses which are considered minor here in the U.S., we often become sympathetic, depending on the infraction, of course. And when we learn that the country holding that prisoner is an archrival or enemy such as China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia, our sympathies become that much stronger. In the case of Brittney Griner, however, things aren’t that simple. Griner, who has been detained in a Russian prison since her arrest at a Moscow airport for possession of cannabis oil

The arrogance of a rich fool who believes that the elite status that has been given to her by society for whatever reason is “her right.” In the states she could bust up a restaurant for shorting her a fry and she thinks that is “her right” or “her righteousness” that allows her to hulk away without consequence. She is the tourist who wants a selfie with a bison at yellowstone. “Doesn’t the bison know how wonderful i am?” She thinks. No it doesn’t because you aren’t. You’ve just been accommodated by your fellow man. The accommodation ended for you. Now you have new accommodations.

It would only be appropriate to honor Brittney's deeply held beliefs. The US has oppressed her, persecuted her and limited her opportunities. The racism and Lesbophobia are also major faults of the US. Brittney has made it clear she has no desire to support such an oppressive country. Therefore, the US should honor her beliefs and not do a Darn thing to help her. She would feel it a life's insult for such a nation to aid her. Imagine the depression and ruination of her life if the US, a hated oppressor, helped her. Besides, she definitely is in a country that doesn't have racism against blacks since the only blacks are tourist. And Lesbians aren't persecuted like the Middle East. So she should be very comfortable in Russia for the rest of her life or at least 10 more years.

I'm less concerned about the justice argument. The aspect that I find interesting is the potential for an awakening (or not). She was fed a collection of lies from the media, politicians, schools, and probably everyone else she was interacted with in the US. She bought into those lies and became a useful idiot for those who controlled her (and yes, she was controlled, knowingly or not). My hope is that she will see that someday (if not already). She had some degree of fame, some money, freedom. Yet with all that, she acted like she was discriminated against. That she or others were treated unfairly. That it was all part of some white supremacy or systemic racism. Blind to the reality that she had opportunities that others around the world could only dream about. In fact, blind to the reality that many white men, whom she clearly despised, live their lives happily with much less opportunity than her. So know that that opportunity has been taken away, although likely only temporarily, will she see how good she actually had it? Will she stand for the flag? Will she apologize to her country? Somehow I doubt it.

I travel internationally a fair bit. I have zero sympathy, and that has nothing to do with Greiner's privileged stupidity. Once you leave the US our Constitution is null and void. One minds their Ps and Qs, or faces the consequences, from a stern talking to to a wood shampoo and time in the pokey. The world is not as liberal-minded as some would like to believe. Hauling cannabis in any form is an invitation to trouble. She got it. Good luck, girlfriend.

Hey Brittney, just think of the exotic 'tats' you can acquire while in Russian prison! And I almost forgot to mention those book deals you can sign while in there! Maybe you can buy your way out of jail if you find a corrupt judge, who knows? To publicly and repeatedly denounce the USA then demand our nation 'drop everything' and come to your rescue is a bit... 'brattish', don't you think? It's sort of like the punk teenager who denounces his family, while simultaneously demanding food, clothing, and a 'private spa' experience. Note 1: When you denounce your family, you denounce not only parents and siblings, but also the complete environment, such as room and board.. Note 2: When you denounce your country, you denounce not just the nation and its history, but all that it provides, such as rights and privileges.

Political issues and behavior aside, one thing that is pretty common knowledge is that some countries have pretty severe penalties for illegal drug use. There have been numerous stories about travelers getting rolled up in drug charges and facing stiff jail time in bad conditions. How stupid and arrogant is Griner to spit in the Russian's faces and use drugs in their country? The US usually tries, over time, to get our citizen's freed. However, the process is slow and uncertain. They should try to get Griner freed just like any other citizen. Maybe they will succeed in a year or two. Maybe Griner will go through an attitude adjustment. Maybe not. Frankly, I don't care too much. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

I posted elsewhere that Brittney Griner is entering a new stage in her life. She will soon be struck by the awesome beauty of Siberia, will learn a new language, Russian, and be given an introduction to geology. She will be able to study geologic formations big and small and using specialized tools reduced large rock specimens into usable sizes. In off hours, sampling Russian cuisine will be an experience denied her in the USA with cabbage and beets heated in spring water a new delight. Gradually her hatred of America will be tempered be acclimatizing conditions in areas still under developement by the Russian government. Brittney Griner will be an active participant in this ongoing endeavor,

So much virtue signaling over Griner, a WNBA player. It’s good to know so few have made mistakes in early adulthood but I’m not among the pure. As a young man in the mid-70s, voluntarily serving my country as a Navy Corpsman with Marines, I cast my first presidential vote for James Earl Carter, based on him being a former Naval Officer, dirt farmer, and unapologetic Christian. That was the result of my political ignorance. Even Reagan forgave me in 1980.

What strikes me most is the utter irony of Griner acting entitled about her drug use, then being caught, captured, and prosecuted at the very moment in history when the most ineffectual White House resident ever--Joe Biden--is supplying armaments to Russia's enemies/victims in Ukraine, has imposed sanctions on Russia, and has bad-mouthed Putin by saying, "This guy Putin has got to go." Not since the Reagan days has the USA wielded less leverage to obtain prisoner releases of Americans in Russia. Even in the Reagan days, Russia's president was Gorbachev, who was comparatively polite and friendly, contrasted with this Putin creature Russia has now. Griner's timing is beyond horrendous.

A group of establishment Republicans released a report last week claiming to make “The Conservative Case that Trump Lost and Biden Won the 2020 Presidential Election.” It is not news that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. The report’s strawman-slaying title is intended to suggest that concerns about the integrity of that election are without merit. But the report itself simply goes through court decisions and recounts, listing how they turned out.It focuses on questions about “fraud,” rather than the significant and extremely well-substantiated concerns Republican voters have about the election.

It’s not often we see Democrats complimenting political adversaries or admitting their own policies and stances were incorrect. To be fair, the same could be said about most Republicans, but this stubbornness and defiance appear much more frequently on the left. When was the last time we heard Liz Warren say something nice about Ted Cruz? And can anyone recall a nice thing AOC has said about Lauren Boebert? But for Democrats, there is a hierarchy of antagonism. Figures such as Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio are seen as rivals. Others such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Clarence Thomas are seen as enemies. And then we have Donald Trump,

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday held that state election officials’ use of some 500-plus drop boxes during the 2020 general election violated Wisconsin law. While the court’s decision represents a (partial, as we will soon see) victory for election integrity, the split 4-3 decision and the substance of the dissent reveal that having a fair electoral process no longer “transcends any individual partisan interest” — something less than two decades ago Jimmy Carter touted as a universal truth in the bipartisan Commission on Election Reform report “Building Confidence in U.S. Elections.”

But something else Clarence Thomas is, obviously, is a human being, which means he’s someone who can be affected by traumatic and emotional experiences. There are many influences that can motivate us: Financial benefit, security for our families, and self-preservation are just a few. But there’s also the issue paybacks; vengeance. And sometimes revenge can be the strongest of all motivators. Such is the case, apparently, with Justice Thomas.

Canada’s medical assistance in dying (MAiD) law is already the most permissive euthanasia and assisted-suicide legislation in the world. Understandably controversial in itself, there are many horror stories surrounding its implementation. For example, as lifesitenews.com recently reported, A 71-year-old widower was admitted to a Southwestern Ontario hospital after a fall. His family says during his admission he contracted an infectious diarrheal illness. He was humiliated by staff for the smell of his room, his family said. New York City’s homeless shelters are being overrun with asylum-seeking migrants as the immigration crisis at the southern border worsens—with nearly 3,000 arriving in recent weeks, Mayor Eric Adams warned Monday. Adams called on President Biden to send “additional federal resources immediately” so the city can handle the overflow. “If we do not get these urgently needed resources, we may struggle to provide the proper level of support our clients deserve, while also facing challenges as we serve both a rapidly growing shelter population and new clients who are seeking asylum,” Adams said in a prepared statement. Adams said the illegal immigrants included families “arriving on buses

Who didn’t see THIS coming? As if everything on the planet isn’t already racist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, misogynistic, or other such nonsense, a new controversy is brewing among anthropologists about archeologists identifying ancient human remains by gender. No, you haven’t accidentally stumbled over to The Babylon Bee. Before we continue, let’s revisit a couple of definitions, according to Merriam-Webster: Archeology: the scientific study of material remains (such as tools, pottery, jewelry, stone walls, and monuments) of past human life and activities; remains of the culture of a people. Anthropology: the science of human beings, especially: the study of human beings and their ancestors through time and space

Via this genetic engineering experiment, they’ve literally injected ‘seeds of demise’ into everyday people like a cockroach spray. Based on a 2011 estimate, he believes an extra 700 million will be killed from this bioweapon – and they’ve known about the risks since 2005. David Martin, Ph.D., presents evidence that COVID-19 injections are not vaccines, but bioweapons that are being used as a form of genocide across the global population

Anyone who watched the unlikely Biden campaign unfold as it did knows that Jill Biden, not-a-medical doctor, is largely responsible for the disaster that is her husband's presidency. She, more than anyone else, knew that Joe was suffering from advancing dementia, yet she signed on to the far left's plan to exile Trump no matter what the cost. Whatever made her and the cabal that rigged the election six ways to Sunday think they could pull it off proves they are all power mad idiots. They apparently thought they could put old Joe out there as a front and implement their treasured Marxist green policies,

After intense backlash from local bodega workers and city tabloids, Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg on Tuesday dropped all charges against bodega clerk Jose Alba, who was allegedly acting in self-defense when he fatally stabbed a man who was attacking him. The liberal DA’s decision comes after weeks of criticism of Bragg’s decision to send the 61-year-old to Riker’s Island and charge him with second-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Austin Simon. Bragg first requested Alba’s bail be set at $500,000 before it was lowered to $50,000 in response to criticism from the community. He was later released on a $5,000 bail bond.

Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler suggested on Tuesday that Justice Clarence Thomas did not suggest revisiting the Supreme Court ruling that legalized interracial marriage because he himself is married to a white woman. Debate on the House floor grew heated as the Democrat-majority chamber prepares to advance its Respect For Marriage Act, aimed at codifying same-sex marriage. The bill is a response to Thomas' concurring opinion in the high court's decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health, which saw the right to an abortion stripped out of federal law and returned to state jurisdictions.

Progressive mega-donor George Soros contributed $1 million to Texas Democratic gubernatorial nominee Beto O’Rourke’s staggering fundraising haul last month. O’Rourke, who’s challenging two-term Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in November’s election, last week announced that he hauled in $27.6 million in fundraising from late February through June, topping Abbott by $2.7 million and shattering the existing record for fundraising in Texas. O’Rourke’s campaign finance report was posted online on Tuesday and indicates that Soros contributed $1 million — issued on June 23 — to the Democratic gubernatorial nominee’s campaign.

Donald Trump’s flirtation with announcing a 2024 White House bid before the midterm elections is sending signals of self-doubt and political vulnerability, with Republican operatives saying the former president is motivating challenges to his supremacy over the party. Trump would begin any presidential primary with overwhelming advantages in popularity, name identification, and resources. But pulling the trigger on a third White House campaign prior to Election Day this November, as Trump concedes is possible, might boomerang. Rather than box out potential 2024 opponents and clear the field, such a move by the former president could reek of fear, inviting more competition for the Republican nomination.
