Manhattan DA Drops Murder Charge against
Bodega Worker Who Fatally Stabbed Attacker

Original Article

After intense backlash from local bodega workers and city tabloids, Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg on Tuesday dropped all charges against bodega clerk Jose Alba, who was allegedly acting in self-defense when he fatally stabbed a man who was attacking him. The liberal DA’s decision comes after weeks of criticism of Bragg’s decision to send the 61-year-old to Riker’s Island and charge him with second-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Austin Simon. Bragg first requested Alba’s bail be set at $500,000 before it was lowered to $50,000 in response to criticism from the community. He was later released on a $5,000 bail bond.

I think the dim witted DA finally figured out that there was not a chance that he could get a conviction. No jury would vote to convict, after seeing that video. And Alba should sue the DA for false charges and at least get his legal expenses back. Not a lawyer, don't know if that is even possible.

Come on you people! These libtards never change their mind. Thy push on ahead, oblivious to the noise. Bragg was told to drop the case, the word coming from on high, like the Governor's office. This is the last thing that corrupt Governor Hochul needs as a distraction for her reelection campaign. Every gubernatorial candidate in NY has said that they would fire Alvin Bragg on Day One--except her. She said he needed more time on the job before she decided on keeping him. After the stink raised by many in the city, I'm sure Bragg was told he would go unless he dismissed this case. That's the story.

Number 20's post is 100% correct, and one of the best political calls I've seen. Hochul was terrified when Her GOP opponent this year, Lee Zeldin, originally said he'd fire Bragg on Day One, because she knew it could be a game changer in crime-ridden NYC, cost her re-election.. When Zeldin made the pledge, Hochul issued a "soft" and quieter (probably no one but me heard it!) warning to Bragg that he should clean up some of his promises. So I am certain that Number 20 is correct, and that big Dems warned upstart Bragg that they could only endure his Wokeness so far.

Mayra Flores Drops Her Democrat Opponent

As RedState reported, Democrat Rep. Vincente Gonzalez was caught paying a blogger to write racist posts attacking Rep. Mayra Flores, who recently won TX-6 in a special election. That district had previously been held by Democrats for over 100 years, marking a ground-shaking shift among the area’s electorate. Flores’ unexpected success has made all the right people mad, and Gonzalez’s desperate attempt to trash her from underneath the table quickly backfired. He issued a hurried “apology” in front of the Capitol Building on Wednesday, admitting to what he had done while weaseling out of accepting responsibility. Later in the day, Gonzalez decided to double down, though.

Joe Biden just dropped the biggest bombshell in presidential history. Either that or he dropped the biggest gaffe. It’s probably the latter, as we’ll discuss, but I’m not sure that makes things any better. While speaking in Massachusetts on Wednesday, the president claimed to have “cancer,” citing supposed oil slicks on the windows of cars. Apparently, being exposed to oil residue as a child gives you cancer later in life? I don’t know. None of what he says in the following clip makes sense, and it’s best to just take it for what it is. I mean, come on, what is he talking about?

"Tesla is asking its customers in Texas to avoid charging their electric vehicles during peak times in order to prevent overtaxing the state’s power grid.

We’re losing this battle and losing control of the weather.” Heinrich stated, “[I]t really is our addiction to fossil fuels that is driving the out-of-control frustration and inflation that our constituents are feeling.”

If the economy can be likened to a game of musical chairs, it looks like the music is ending for the housing market — fast. Two big indicators today show that the Federal Reserve’s actions to tighten money supply as a brake on inflation has already had a big impact. Mortgage demand crashed to a 22-year low last week, leaving sellers potentially in a situation where prices may have to fall: Mortgage demand fell more than 6% last week compared with the previous week, hitting the lowest level since 2000, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s seasonally adjusted index. Applications for a mortgage to purchase a home dropped 7% for the week

A federal appeals court ruled today that Georgia’s restrictive 2019 abortion law should be allowed to take effect, overruling a lower court. If there was one lesson the Democrats learned from 2020 forward, it was that, if the government convinces voters there's an emergency, the voters will let the government get away with murder. That's why there is a huge push from the left for Biden to declare a "climate emergency" and, under that rubric, end fossil fuels in America on an accelerated timeline. If Biden were to do this — and to get away with doing it — America is over. Kaput. The great experiment will have ended. The Washington Post seems to have been first with the story.

I am a rabbi in a legal system that excluded women for thousands of years, much like the legal system that the Supreme Court relied on in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. But unlike the American legal system, the Jewish tradition, in certain respects, including abortion, found a way to craft laws grounded in equal dignity for women.

Some of them spent their time in the White House mostly under the radar, with Rosalynn Carter and both Laura and Barbara Bush falling into this category. Others such as Nancy Reagan with her fondness for astronomy and Betty Ford with her personal challenges were somewhat quirkier, but they were likeable and mostly unremarkable. Both Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama could be outspoken and controversial, but at least they were mostly clever and competent. And then we have Jill Biden.
