Progressive mega-donor George Soros contributed $1 million to Texas Democratic gubernatorial nominee Beto O’Rourke’s staggering fundraising haul last month. O’Rourke, who’s challenging two-term Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in November’s election, last week announced that he hauled in $27.6 million in fundraising from late February through June, topping Abbott by $2.7 million and shattering the existing record for fundraising in Texas. O’Rourke’s campaign finance report was posted online on Tuesday and indicates that Soros contributed $1 million — issued on June 23 — to the Democratic gubernatorial nominee’s campaign.

What did I miss. Doesn’t this exceed campaign contribution totals by the hundreds of thousands of dollars??? Talk about meddling in an election.

I had a chat with an old childhood friend from my home state. He's a big Democrat operative (liberal lawyer). Anyway, he asks me, is Texas ever going to "turn blue." Seems he gets more than his fair share of fund raising letters from Texas Democrat candidates looking for bucks so they can "turn Texas blue." I said that well, someday a Democrat will win a statewide race. But it's not going to be 2022 or probably not 2024. I told him that basically, Texas Democrats act like Washington DC-RINO Republicans and talk a good game, get lots of donations, and no results.

I had a State Department liberal tell me that Soros was a great humanitarian. I mentioned turning Jews in to the Nazi's for capture. He said he couldn't do that, he was only a child during WWII. 12 or 13 y/o early in the war is old enough to turn in Jews for "brownie points" so I am not impressed. Soros is pure evil and should be deported like the Hungarians did. Anyway, I thought you had to be a US citizen to donate to campaigns. Remember how Bill Clinton couldn't take money from the Chinese? Right? Isn't that true?

As the United States continues to come to grips with the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, I cannot stop thinking about how the court used a legal system built entirely by men to diminish women — once again — into nothing more than a vessel for producing babies. I am a rabbi in a legal system that excluded women for thousands of years, much like the legal system that the Supreme Court relied on in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. But unlike the American legal system, the Jewish tradition, in certain respects, including abortion, found a way to craft laws grounded in equal dignity for women.

It’s hard to know whether to laugh or cry when leftists insist that “men get pregnant” or refer to mothers as “birthing people” and otherwise ignore the material reality of biological sex. While we’ve generally understood that this is the latest cause célèbre of the radical left, we don’t really expect conservative media to follow suit. Yet the recent case of a male inmate at a New Jersey women’s prison who impregnated two inmates has shown that conservative media has also been successfully pressured to kowtow to the transgender cult, the Media Research Center has found.

While most of the country is laser-focused on inflation and the economic hardship crushing Americans, Democrats continue to obsess about the only thing that matters to them: Ensuring abortion until birth is legal. (snip) According to Harris, if you support killing a nine-month-old baby in the womb, God is all good with it. (snip) The Bible also doesn’t have anything good to say about those who profess to know Christ then purposely lead others astray, much less for some pathetic, worthless political goal like keeping unlimited abortion legal. Honestly, if I were Harris, I’d be thinking deeply about the state of my soul after those comments. Christianity isn’t a game.

Conservative Twitter users tore Prince Harry apart after the British royal gave a condescending speech trashing the Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade during a U.N. summit on International Nelson Mandela Day. During the Monday speech, Harry seemed to take aim at conservative policies. He claimed that "the rolling back of Constitutional rights in the United States," in addition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, represent a "global assault on democracy and freedom." Considering that Harry and his wife, actress Meghan Markle, champion progressive causes, the implication in his speech seemed to refer to the Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson abortion ruling.

Some of them spent their time in the White House mostly under the radar, with Rosalynn Carter and both Laura and Barbara Bush falling into this category. Others such as Nancy Reagan with her fondness for astronomy and Betty Ford with her personal challenges were somewhat quirkier, but they were likeable and mostly unremarkable. Both Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama could be outspoken and controversial, but at least they were mostly clever and competent. And then we have Jill Biden.
