Buttigieg says feds have power to force
airlines to hire more workers amid travel delays

The federal government could take action against U.S. airlines on behalf of customers, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Saturday. Many Americans have endured delays, cancelations, and other travel complications during the coronavirus pandemic, and in recent months, after many pandemic-related travel restrictions were lifted. Following Buttigieg’s own flight being canceled, forcing him to drive from Washington to New York, he said his department has authority to enforce action against airlines that do not sufficiently maintain consumer-protection standards, potentially requiring them to hire more staff. "That is happening to a lot of people, and that is exactly why we are paying

Booty is having a hissy-fit after his own flight got canceled. Like a good apparatchik he wants the government to force airlines to put more people on the payroll.

It sure sounds to me like he is going to force people to work against their will all because he got inconvenienced. Hmmm, sure sounds like slavery to me. Is he going to order airline Gestapo to go door to door and pull retired airline personnel out of their homes at the point of a gun? More than likely Uncle Sugar will promise to subsidize the airlines to raise starting pay to attract new employees and make incentives for hiring minorities.

If the Feds force them to hire are they going to insist on diversity? Can they hire experienced white pilots and personnel? Will they require as many "firsts" as possible? How many must be LBGTQIXYZ? What is the punishment if they do not hire a percentage of each special group? How many will will actually be experienced enough to fly or maintain aircraft designed to carry hundreds of people? Given the Biden cabinet diversity brain-trust it does not bode well for traveling by air.

So the feds spend a couple of years harassing/terminating employees over vaccinations. Create a hostile relationship between customers and employees with useless face mask requirements. but when Buttplug has a flight cancelled, it suddenly becomes an issue and is, of course, the private industries fault.

Even if he has the authority does he have any idea how long it takes to put a new hire in a cockpit seat for their first passenger on board flight? Even for a previously fully qualified pilot for the same airline. It's not hire today and fly tomorrow.

Sure, they will hire more people if the government forces them to. And suddenly that $99 flight to Nashville will be $500 so that the airline can cover all those extra costs. But Butt-boy doesn't care. You and I, the great unwashed masses of peasants, are paying for his tickets with our tax dollars. But you know what would make a difference?!?!?!? If the airlines ever have to hire people out of the blue under Biden and Buttigieg rules, there is no doubt that before long the airlines would find that they have foreign origin intending contraband smugglers and terrorists having access to their aircraft and supposedly secure operating areas.

There is a shortage of pilots after the Covid time, many quit or retired. It takes time to train replace them. And apparently other airline employees have left or are still on unemployment, so there is a shortage there. If the airlines could find people to fill these jobs, I suspect they would hire them.

Hey, who raised a voice regarding the government's abuse of the Defense Production Act, starting with PDT's command production of ventilators in his "War on COVIDS"? Biden has now abused DPA twice and may use it yet to "nationalize" the oil industry. Butty is only expanding on that abuse of authority. Sorry, but those horses are out of the bi-partisan barn. With the DPA repeatedly exercised with the thinnest of justifications, it becomes a command economy - hey, it's a "War on Inflation". I'm afraid we ain't seen nothing yet. Stroke of the pen...

Little Dick Durbin says that the USA (for some reason) finds itself short of 10 million American workers, so he is going along with a new Chicago based illegal alien rights organization and their mission to place 10 million mostly uneducated illegal aliens into those vacant U.S. jobs, and grant those 10 million “new American workers” US Citizenship, and no doubt leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrat supporters and voters. Durbin did tell his audience that his immigrant grandmother became a naturalized US Citizen, but did not talk about his potential “new American workers” being in anyway “qualified” for their new professional jobs. No doubt Democrats like Durbin will tell you that the current illegal alien population will make great future US airline pilots and air traffic controllers.

Extreme heat early in the summer season is calling into question the strength of electricity and power grids across the country, as warnings about brownouts and requests to conserve power continue to rise. Soccer star Megan Rapinoe says parents need to realize their children’s sports just aren’t “that important.” The former Subway spokeswoman gave a recent interview in which she chastised parents for making a big deal out of trans athletes in girls’ sports. “I would also encourage everyone out there who is afraid someone’s going to have an unfair advantage over their kid to really take a step back and think what are we actually talking about here,” the 36-year-old said. “We’re talking about people’s lives. I’m sorry, your kid’s high school volleyball team just isn’t that important.”

A new, two-story afro pick statue was unveiled in New Orleans on Friday in honor of Juneteenth, but while Mayor LaToya Cantrell called the structure “breathtaking,” not everyone sees it that way. "As Juneteenth approaches, we celebrated with an unveiling in Lafayette Sq," Cantrell tweeted about the 24-foot tall hair pick that has a clenched “black power” fist on top. "This sculpture is very fitting for this time & place as we celebrate the freedoms that we have gained We know that it doesn’t come without struggles, fights, and protests for 200+ years." The imposing pick is part of the Monumental Tour, a traveling exhibition of large-scale outdoor works by Black artists.

Only a “massive” and immediate scaling-up of funds and humanitarian relief can save Somalia from famine, a UN spokesperson has warned, as aid workers report children starving to death “before our eyes” amid rapidly escalating levels of malnutrition. In a message to G7 leaders who are meeting from Sunday in Germany, Michael Dunford, the World Food Programme’s (WFP) regional director for east Africa, said governments had to donate urgently and generously if there was to be any hope of avoiding catastrophe in the Horn of Africa country. “We need money and we need it now,” said Dunford.(Snip)Last year, the UK and other G7 leaders promised to provide $7bn

Well, it happened. The Republican Party decided to play nice, try to get some good press with a media establishment that hates them, and join the legions of the righteous and blessed by hashing out a gun control bill during a midterm election cycle. Is everyone up there hitting the crack pipe? What are we doing? What the hell is this? We have category five hurricane gusts to our backs heading into November—and the GOP decided to do what it does best: find a new way to blow it. The economy is primed to enter a recession as the second-quarter report is bound to show another period of economic contraction.

Barack and Michelle Obama's multiyear deal with Amazon's podcast platform Audible is worth at least $20million, experts have claimed. The couple will have to contribute two shows and appear in up to eight episodes each, the industry insiders said. The move will give the former first lady the scope to make less personal appearances than what was wanted under their former partnership with Spotify, the sources said. Audible said the pair plan to use their new platform to 'tell stories that elevate diverse voices and and experiences'. The Obamas cut ties with Spotify after reportedly clashing with the streaming giant over exclusivity and how much they were expected to appear in episodes.

CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin ignored recent examples of progressive violence when he went on "At This Hour With Kate Bolduan" on Wednesday to condemn "the pervasiveness of right-wing violence." Toobin appeared on a panel discussing the ongoing Jan. 6 hearings and potential connections to former President Donald Trump. In the latest hearing by the Jan. 6 Committee on Tuesday, state officials testified that they received several threats and attacks from people after refusing to overturn the 2020 election results. Toobin argued those threats were further proof that "right-wing violence" is now pervasive throughout the country.

More than 21 million paper tax returns are still waiting for processing by the Internal Revenue Service, as the tax agency struggles to swiftly disburse refunds to American households, according to a watchdog report released on Wednesday. Most taxpayers file their returns electronically, but millions of others — disproportionately the elderly — still fill out their returns manually. National Taxpayer Advocate Erin Collins said in her report that the IRS backlog this year is 21.3 million paper returns, 7 percent more than the 20 million that were awaiting processing at the same time last year. The report may add to the political

We haven’t even had the 2022 election yet and talk of 2024 is already heating up. Naturally, Donald Trump remains at the top of the conversation on the Republican side, but Ron DeSantis has become nearly as talked about as a probable challenger. The latter has burst onto the scene the last two years as a no-nonsense, fighter of a governor who also has a knack for making the liberal press look ridiculous. Those are skills that GOP voters love, and they’ve earned DeSantis high marks nationally from the Republican base. That he’s also become the leader in the culture wars has only caused his star to rise further. Just how far has he risen? The first primary poll
