Germany must limit its use of gas for electricity production and prioritize the filling of storage facilities to compensate for a drop in supply from Russia, Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on Sunday. In a move that goes against the principles of his environmentally-friendly Green Party, the country will also have to increase the burning of coal, Habeck said. Russian gas company Gazprom announced last week that it was reducing supplies through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline for technical reasons, saying there had been delays in the repair of compressor turbines by the German company Siemens Energy. The day the Germans shut down their nuclear plants was the day the Germans admitted the French are better engineers than the Germans. France gets 78% of their electric power from Nuclear energy.

Extreme heat early in the summer season is calling into question the strength of electricity and power grids across the country, as warnings about brownouts and requests to conserve power continue to rise. As temperatures increase, the risk of power outages grows along with them. Warmer weather means higher power usage as people turn to devices like air-conditioning units and fans to try to cool their homes and offices. A May report from the non-profit North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) predicted a "high risk of energy emergencies during peak summer conditions" in the Upper Midwest. This week, Hillary Clinton dispelled the rumors that she might be running for presidential office again in 2024. The 2016 Democratic candidate who faced former President Trump, told the Financial Times in an interview published Friday that there were no plans to run for office in 2024. “No, out of the question,” Clinton told the Financial Times. “First of all, I expect Biden to run. He certainly intends to run. It would be very disruptive to challenge that.” Clinton made her failed bid for President in 2016 and unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008. In her June 18/19 column at the Wall Street Journal, Ms. Noonan takes Hillary Clinton's "deplorables" slap at Trump voters and goes one — nay, two better. She refers to voters who question the results of the 2020 presidential election as "kooks, crooks, and freaks" and then smears the citizens who went to Washington, D.C. January 6, 2021 as "[t]hose poor stupid people." What is the basis for this criticism, which, arguably, is less ad hominem and, more accurately, descriptive of her mindset? Perhaps Ms. Noonan has not read Margot Cleveland's analysis in The Federalist showing how Georgia election officials failed to enforce the state's election laws in 2020.
