WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly a year since its inception, the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol will go public with its findings starting this week as lawmakers hope to show the American public how democracy came to the brink of disaster. The series of hearings that will take place over the next several weeks begin with a prime-time session Thursday night in which the nine-member panel plans to give an overview of its 11-month investigation. More than 1,000 people have been interviewed by the panel, and only snippets of that testimony have been revealed to the public, mostly through court filings.

Comments:

They keep using the term "Insurrection," which historically refers to an "armed" attempt to overthrow an established government. There is a reason why they choose to use the term insurrection. The term insurrection is in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment where it basically says that nobody can hold an official office who has engaged in insurrection. Trump is clearly the target. At the end of the day, it won't work, but you can bet that the media will have a field day with it.

What an ignorant article. This so-called riot was already judged by the FBI as not classified as an ‘insurrection’. To keep calling it that is just an incendiary lie. The ‘right wing extremists’ (also known as conservatives) did not break into the Capital. They were let in by Capital police and there is video to prove it. The AP seems to think we’re all eager to watch a bunch of camera ho politicians perform in an actual circus. They are deluded.

Knowing that the whole purpose is to prevent PDJT from running for office again, I see no reason to waste my time. My hope is that the ratings are so low that it will be abandoned shortly.

I want to know why the bank manager gave the guards the day off on the day of the robbery. The same manager refused additional security measures for the Sup Ct justices after an assassination attempt, ie, an insurrection attempt against the judiciary.

What we know is this is hogwash and that the majority of those who did anything on Jan.6 other than walk through an open door after being waved in by Capitol Police, were FBI plants and Antifa instigators. Moreover, Nancy Pelosi set this up by refusing to allow adequate security at the capitol, despite it being offered by the Trump admisnsitration.

MIAMI -- Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ripped into President Joe Biden Thursday morning during a South Florida stop when asked about inflation and high gas prices. "So, the question is about gas prices and inflation, you know what I could do, if you could give me a time machine to go back to January 2021, we would just do the opposite of what Biden has done, and we'd be in a better spot," said DeSantis. "Now. I mean, I really think it's, he's got a lot of chutzpah to attack energy producers, when he campaigned saying he was going to shut down energy production in the United States."

"We as taxpayers should just worry about bringing lots of … fans to the area and support that," Bonnie, of Bradenton, told Fox News. "The governor has no business in that." After vetoing the funding, DeSantis said Friday that he doesn't "support giving taxpayer dollars to professional sports stadiums" and that "it's inappropriate to subsidize political activism of a private corporation." The Rays had pledged to donate $50,000 to Everytown for Gun Safety in late May following the Uvalde, Texas, shooting.
