As Allahpundit pointed out here, when BORTAC agents showed up at Robb Elementary School Tuesday, they were told by the on scene commander not to enter the school. The NY Times reported the agents had driven from the border and showed up between noon and 12:10 pm. And we know from an earlier timeline that they finally breached the door around 12:50 pm and killed the suspect within a few minutes. Now NBC has published a story with a small but significant update to what the Times reported earlier. It turns out the BORTAC agents who killed Ramos were never told to go inside. Instead,

At some point, one has to wonder whether all of these seemingly unrelated incidents aren't being orchestrated.

Why was a federal agency (the Border Patrol) involved with a State / local issue? If that's the path we're on, start calling in the US military for traffic tickets.

Let’s not forget that through sheer cowardice and incompetency, 21 precious souls lost their lives waiting for the Police to rescue them. I understand the importance of chain of command, but standing around securing a perimeter while an insane gunman is on a killing spree is unconscionable by any measure. I cannot wrap my brain around the thinking of those in charge who did nothing to save those children and teachers. How do you justify that? It’s bad enough this happened but to know it could have had a different outcome is heart wrenching. God bless the families who lost loved ones. Their grief must be devastating.

Just speculation, but you need a short amount of time, even with a trained team, to strategize before entry. You need intelligence (information) about how many perps/locations, hostages, armament of perps. If the local commander was not forthcoming, and adament about not going in, it may have taken time for the BORTAC team to assemble that information.

To answer no. 5: one of the earliest bits about BORTAC is that they were in Uvalde already, searching for Cartel stash houses.

The usual. Dims start pushing gun control again for political advantage and the "experts" in the msm start questioning police competency. My first thoughts? Look at the serious problems this Ramos kid had. The list is long as to what I believe pushed him to murder a room full of children and teachers - 1. No father at home. 2. Mother is a drug addict. 3. Ramos lived with his grandmother. 4. Ramos had a severe speech impediment - severe stutter. 5. Ramos was bullied relentlessly at school for his disability. 6. Granny left the kid on his own to plow through life. 7. Texas schools were aware of his problems but let the kid flounder on his own. Yes, the breakdown in the police response is pretty disgusting. What happened here is a parents' worst nightmare. Let us also deal with America's worsening mental health crisis among adults and kids starting with this Ramos kid. While government is always good at addressing the symptoms of a problem, can we ourselves address the source of the problem. What is driving people to violence. Pop Quiz 1. Does America have worsening a mental crisis? Answer - {fill in the blank yourself} 2. If you believe the answer to Question 1 is "yes", who or what brought this mental health crisis upon us and what do we do about it? Answer - {fill in the blank yourself}

Some of us have wondered at how these incidents almost seem to happen on cue. The left always screams gun control to take the focus off them and and their policies--the real cause of this mess. They think they will never be held accountable, but when they are, it won't be as a group; they will be held individually accountable for their hatred of God, for that is their problem. Plain and simple.

I have an idea how the brat got his guns and ammo. Check Granny. If she's a straw purchaser for the Cartels, the kid could have used her account to purchase the equipment. I've heard he was bullied for dressing as a woman. Dress up, use granny's ID to pick up the items ordered online but required to go to a licensed dealer. He pulls it off, goes home and confronts granny who has just discovered he's appropriated the cash the cartels had given her for their order. He shoots granny, heads to the school and plays out his fantasy (another thread claimed he had wanted to do this when he was 14, but couldnt get the equipment. Police records expunged when he turned 18). Pure speculation, you understand. Does NOT explain the open door, and a lot of other things.

Remember Biden and the leftist Democrats have been vilifying the US Border Patrol, Border Patrol agents, and even Border Patrol horses since Biden assumed the presidency for allegedly using excessive force along the borderline against smugglers and illegal aliens. Some extreme leftist Democrats who support “open borders” and mass uncontrolled illegal immigration have even been advocating completely disarming the Border Patrol and to transform that federal law enforcement agency into some sort of social worker organization to welcome and assist all illegal aliens after they unlawfully enter the USA. If those leftist Democrats had been successful in their efforts to destroy the Border Patrol, there would not have been a Border Patrol BORTAC tactical unit to take down the perpetrator in the Uvalde elementary school. Don’t be surprised if some leftist Democrats don’t pop up claiming that individual members of the Border Patrol tactical unit who entered the school, apparently against the instructions of the local school police chief, should be indicted for using excessive force without local police authority by confronting and killing the perpetrator.

Did he intend to attack the elementary school, or did he attack it as the nearest target when he drove into the ditch? I didn't want to see anyone shot, but if it were inevitable, too bad he didn't go to the hi.s. where his tormentors/bullies were. As a professor, by the way, I have had bullies in class, from undergraduate students to doctoral students! And I even had a few of them attempt to bully me about their grades. It didn't go well for them.

Do a search on 'Uvalde School Shooting Timeline'. This was a hostage situation, not a barricade situation. Children were calling 911 from inside the classroom. There were 8-9 children in the room still alive. The classroom doors the police had to go through were locked, probably by the shooter.

I am reminded of the scene in “Lone Survivor” where they are debating what to do with the people who stumbled on them. They argued about it with one salient point being that they didn’t wan to end up on CNN. Do not think that politics, social pressure, and fear of the outcome did not affect decisions made on the ground. Those Navy Seals sacrificed themselves in order to not be summarily destroyed by the press and command structure for “murdering” non-combatants (who then became combatants). There are few people who are willing to suffer the slings and arrows of public opinion and the possible legal jeopardy from making the right decision. I suspect such was the case here.

To enter not knowing anything at all about who is inside, how many shooters, what do they look like, are they hiding, are they trying to look like the students or the teachers. It takes time to figure out these things. Charging in without knowing any of this is almost certainly going to get you killed. Bravery is great when it works out. But didn't I hear that one law enforcement officer had already been shot?

We’re all still wondering why police in Uvalde, Texas didn’t storm the classroom and kill the gunman given that active-shooter training indicates that’s what should happen. Also this week there’s a video circulating on Twitter which has me wondering almost the same thing. Why did no one act? A viral video on social media shows a woman being assaulted on a New York City subway train as bystanders keep a safe distance away from the scene. The video shows an individual acting out on the subway. As other passengers move away, the individual pulls one passenger down onto a seat by her hair. The passenger can be seen mouthing, “Somebody help me,”

Things have been pretty bleak and heartbreaking of late, so here’s some good news. “Top Gun: Maverick” has been lighting up movie screens and — based on my own personal social media observations — is routinely inspiring clapping and cheering from American audiences. And that’s not even the best part. One of the questions being mulled over yesterday was how the shooter so easily gained access to the school. Robb Elementary didn’t have the same “hardening” efforts, including a buzz-in security vestibule, that the Uvalde high school had. But there was supposedly a security plan that included keeping doors to the school locked from the outside. A short time ago Texas DPS director Steven McGraw gave a timeline of the incident which revealed a teacher had propped open that door moments before the shooter arrived. “We know from video evidence at 11:27 the exterior door…where we knew the shooter entered, was propped open by

Vladimir Lenin supposedly once said, “The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.” There’s some doubt as to whether this line is genuine; regardless, it seems like a pretty good description of what the Biden administration is doing to Ameri ca’s middle class. Inflation is running rampant. The Producer Price Index, the most useful measure of general inflation, is up a whopping 16.3% from April 2021, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That means that roughly $1 out of every $6 that people earn has been lost to inflation in a single year.
