The former president and his vice-president provided a joint message on the day after a mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas – remember George Floyd. The two most prominent Democrats in the country stepped over the dead bodies of at least 19 children and two teachers to recognize the second anniversary of the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. It is hard to imagine a more tone deaf response. We expect more from our presidents, past and present. Elon Musk is demanding that Tesla employees cease remote work or be fired, in two emails sent to staff of the electric car company on Tuesday.
In the emails, which were leaked to electric car news website Electrek, Musk stated that all employees must be in the office for a minimum of 40 hours per week or depart the company. He also wrote that he will review potential exceptions directly, but only for “particularly exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible.”
Musk reiterated the statement in a follow-up email, specifying that the office must be a main Tesla office and not an off-shoot location.
Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer of Facebook's parent company Meta, has announced that she is leaving the business after 14 years.
Ms Sandberg announced her departure in a Facebook post, saying she hoped to focus on her foundation and philanthropic work going forward.
Her departure comes as Meta faces a slowdown in advertising sales and more competition from rivals such as TikTok.
Ms Sandberg is one of the most high-profile women in the tech industry.
"When I took this job in 2008, I hoped I would be in this role for five years," wrote Ms Sandberg, known as a powerful second-in-command at the company.

President Biden does not “believe in” proposals to harden schools against potential gunmen, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday.
“I know there’s been conversation about hardening schools, that is not something he believes in,” Jean-Pierre told reporters at a White House press conference. “He believes that we should be able to give teachers the resources to be able to do their job.”

In its lineup this morning RealClearPolitics has done us the service of going back to Daniel Henninger’s weekly Wall Street Journal column of this past Thursday on “Joe Biden’s train-wreck economy” (behind the Journal’s paywall). We noted Biden’s reference in Tokyo to the “incredible transition” he is engineering to renewable energy and a green economy. A beautiful future awaits, if we can draw on our savings to pay $5.00 a gallon and more at the pump.
I took the talk of “transition” as more mush from the wimp. Henninger makes a persuasive case that “Biden” is to be taken seriously:

Yellowstone National Park, Wyo. — A bison gored a 25-year-old woman in Yellowstone National Park. The bison was walking near a boardwalk at Black Sand Basin, just north of Old Faithful, when the woman approached it on Monday, according to a park statement. She got within 10 feet before the animal gored her and tossed her 10 feet in the air. The woman, from Grove City, Ohio, sustained a puncture wound and other injuries. Park emergency medical providers responded and transported her via ambulance to a hospital in Idaho. Park officials say it's the first reported bison goring this year.
A California task force has released a report calling for 'comprehensive reparations' for African American residents, that include free four-year college, payouts, and raising the minimum wage in predominantly black industries, such as agricultural. The more than 500-page document consists of 13 chapters and breaks down reparation suggestions for the eligible black community in California to compensate for the 'racial terror' they've endured. The task force voted in March to limit reparations to descendants of slaves, overruling reparations advocates who wanted to expand compensation to all black people in the US.
Those flying throughout the United States may soon have to put their masks back on, as the Department of Justice has filed an appeal of an April decision that ended the unpopular mask mandate on planes and public transit.
