Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law on Monday that prohibits “picketing and protesting” outside a private residence. Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 1571 in the wake of abortion protests. The bill will make it unlawful to picket outside Florida residences and be considered a second-degree misdemeanor. “Sending unruly mobs to private residences, like we have seen with the angry crowds in front of the homes of Supreme Court justices, is inappropriate,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “This bill will provide protection to those living in residential communities and I am glad to sign it into law.”

#1 Of course. Free Speech and Assembly have never been license to harass and intimidate. But more importantly, the Justices that will decide this don’t want thousands of screaming people permanently stationary on their sidewalk.

About time someone instituted some common sense mob control. I don't understand protest of private individuals or businesses as that has nothing to do with redressing grievance with our goobernemnt and everything to do with harassment and intimidation.

A week intentioned law but, yes, it will bump up against Constitutional protections for free speech and assembly. And, as described here, it depends on INTENT which may be hard to prove.

Once upon a time, it was considered in poor taste to protest if front of someone's home. It just didn't happen and was frowned on. Once upon a time, children were taught manners and they were enforced by society as a whole. But in today's climate, people can't seem to control their bad impulses and good manners are sexist, racist, white supremacy or something. I have a problem with the law on free speech and free association grounds. I also have a problem with the protests in general. They are threatening, it disturbs the peace for the entire neighborhood....etc.

There are already Federal laws on the books prohibiting protesting in front of judges' homes and other authorities. Some States have those laws too. Gov. DeSantis is just agreeing with those States.

Stay on the sidewalk or public right-of-way and you have a right to be there, with or without a sign. This law won't get past the first court hearing. But it's good politics.

It's already a Fed crime to protest or intimidate a Judge. This seems to broaden it to all residences, but only at a misdemeanor level. Remember the attorney couple who were prosecuted in St Louis for defending themselves against protestors inside a gated community? Nonetheless, we will have another peaceful '“Summer of Rage.” for something or other.

Last September, New York Democrats sought to drive the Republican Party out of existence in the state by taking the term “gerrymander” to unheard-of levels. Currently, the Democrats hold 19 congressional seats to the GOP’s 8. The map drawn by the state legislature was a parody of democracy. It would have eliminated five Republican seats and strengthened the marginal hold on several other seats by Democrats. Fortunately, the state’s highest court put the kibosh on that hyperpartisan nonsense. “Democratic leaders in the legislature drafted the 2022 congressional redistricting map without any Republican input, and the map was adopted by the Legislature without a single Republican vote in favor of it,”

Joe Biden may be just another old white guy and will never be as cool as the first black president, but he just achieved something historic for his presidential legacy. Not only is the national average for a gallon of gas now over $4.50, but gas prices are over $4 a gallon in all 50 states. Both are historic firsts. Gas prices reached an average of $4.52 a gallon on Tuesday, according to AAA. That’s up from $4.37 a week ago, and up from $3.05 a gallon a year ago. A century ago, the founder of Planned Parenthood (Margaret Sanger) worked with white supremacists to concoct a vicious racial targeting campaign (the “Negro Project”) with the goal of using birth control and sterilization (including forced sterilization) to reduce populations she and her friends deemed “unfit” to live. Today, as then, anti-life activists want to throw abortion at minority women rather than be bothered to find solutions to their real problems of poverty, relationships, healthcare, and childcare. But the depths of racism and discrimination Sanger’s movement would ultimately reach would have likely shocked even her.

Unfortunately, every time there is a mass shooting tragedy in America there are politicians and media figures – mostly on the left – who take radical Democrat Rahm Emanuel’s “never let a crisis go to waste” mantra to heart in how they respond, first by stomping all over those who call for thoughts and prayers and second by rushing to blame “the right” for what happened, whether it be Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Tucker Carlson or whichever right-wing mover and shaker they find to be most influential at the time. Back in 2012 at a town hall meeting, a woman asked me if I thought there were socialists in Congress. I replied by stating that there were some 75-80 socialist and communists in the US Congress. Well, that sent some folks into an apoplectic meltdown; however, it was the truth. At that time when one assessed the membership of the Congressional Progressive Caucus that assertion was pretty accurate. We must recognize that the reference "progressive" was just a slick renaming of European communists who sought to export their philosophy of governance, albeit a flawed one, to the United States.

On Friday, the World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA) released its official position on transgender athletes. This comes after biological male swimmer Will “Lia” Thomas made headlines for competing on the women’s swim team at University of Pennsylvania after competing on the men’s team for three consecutive years. At the NCAA women’s swimming championships in March, Thomas came in first place in a race against female swimmers, as Townhall covered. The WSCA’s position is that the “grounds of fairness” in swimming cannot be maintained with the inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports. This was published in a lengthy statement on the organization’s website.

There has been a huge influx of blue state people to red states in the past three years. This is a good thing because the Democrat voters, the blues, see what is happening in their own states and want nothing more to do with it. There is only one problem: do blue-staters know why their blue states are failing? They may only be seeing the results of the failures such as high taxes, high crime, authoritarian shutdowns, masking, education pathologies, high gas prices, empty shelves, welfare hounds, and business-unfriendly policies that cause small business closures. But the causes are liberal policies and liberal politicians. Do blue-staters make that connection?

Democrats are also considering legislation that would give the federal government more control over the supply and distribution of formula, particularly when shortages arise. The plan would require formula companies to report inventory to the Food and Drug Administration, which could then move supplies from one state to another to fill empty shelves.
