Seattle's transit system struggles as
riders refuse to pay

SEATTLE – Seattle’s Link Light Rail is a freeloader’s paradise. There are no turnstiles, so passengers are supposed to either buy a ticket or tap their pre-paid card. But so few riders are paying, fares are currently covering just 5% of the system’s operating costs, a fraction of the 40% mark Sound Transit set as a requirement. At a recent Sound Transit Board meeting, the outgoing CEO summed up the situation. "Our fare collection system relies overwhelmingly on an honor system," Peter Rogoff said, "and our increasingly acute problem is that our riders aren’t honoring the system." By one measurement

The Honor System only works if you have honorable people. Seattle no longer has honorable people. It is crumbling in every facet of its society. And so too will go the United States if honorable people can't be in charge again.

But paying for something that should be free is racist. It’s there for all to see and telling people that some white man construct says you can’t use it unless you pay just isn’t going to work in the Woke Age. Maybe cities can print their own money.

High comedy shows disconnect between liberal "thought" and the cold, hard world. FTA: "Sound Transit did away with fare enforcement officers after a study revealed people of color were disproportionately getting fined. Instead, the system now relies on fare ambassadors." "But instead of removing fare evaders from the train, fare ambassadors ask a series of questions starting with a request for identification. About 76% of the free-riding passengers refuse to produce valid ID, which makes it impossible to issue a warning."

Their "Honor System" acts as a great barometer showing the scarcity of the characteristic these days. Bidet will soon announce that his Bilge Bark Broke program will cover mass transit systems across the nation to make them solvent again. Blue States can always depend on the Federal government's ability to print money as their "salvation" when their State policies fail miserably... just look a the "Big Dig" in Massachusetts for one hideous example.

The major common trait among "progressives" is that their policies -- especially their socialistic ones -- completely ignore human nature. As a result, instead of their goal of utopia, all they achieve is dystopia.

My husband retired from Transit in 1998. He worked there 30 years. Started out as a driver, then supervisor, instructor, base manager and finally the Schedule department in charge of the Trolley schedules. A few weeks ago there was a story about how bums (I refuse to call them homeless) would get on a bus and cause problems, just like when they're on the street, defecating, using drugs harassing passengers, you know, the usual. Yesterday there was a story about the Seattle Police Department how they don't have enough officers to investigate rapes or other sex crimes. So only about 1% are even looked at. Seattle, once a lovely city with fairly nice citizens has become worse than most cities in Third World countries.

Biden approval rating tumbles to lowest

President Biden's approval rating has reached the lowest level of his presidency, with a new poll showing only a third of Americans approve of his job performance. Just 33% of Americans approve of Biden's job performance compared to 54% who disapprove, according to the results of a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday. That mark ties the lowest approval Biden has received in the poll during his precedency, matching the number set in January when the president faced a 33-53 approval deficit. Biden's approval numbers are slightly among registered voters, with 35% saying they approve of the president's job performance compared
Gender equity, family planning missing

American women and gender-diverse individuals are disproportionately affected by climate change, but municipal climate plans fail to address family planning or gender equity solutions, a new report has found. The report, released on Tuesday by the Center for Biological Diversity, scrutinized 21 climate plans in cities nationwide, whose total populations represent about 10 percent of the U.S. population. The authors found that none of the plans included family planning, contraception or reproductive health solutions and that only one city — Boston — referred to gender equity as a climate change mitigation strategy. “Societies are more resilient when governments invest in

In the comedy sketch on MBC's "Studio 22" show, which aired Monday, Biden's character appeared sleepy and forgetful, wandering offstage before being tugged back by a likeness of Vice President Kamala Harris. Biden is then seen confusing Spain and Africa, forgetting Russian President Vladimir Putin's name, and mistakenly calling Harris his "first lady."
