A radical environmental group raised a few eyebrows on Twitter after encouraging people to let the tires out of SUVs in an apparent bid to combat climate change. The group, Adbusters, tweeted step-by-step instructions for the provocation on Wednesday, calling it a "gentle escalation" or ramping up the urgency about climate change. (Tweet) "Wedge gravel in the tire valves, leaflet the SUV to let them know the tires are flat and why it was done, and walk away. It’s that simple," the group tweeted. "If we organize, we can hit enough SUVs in particular neighborhoods to spark reporting and spread

Hey...environmental wacko people? Hasn't the pandemic better achieved this aim from the simple fact millions of Americans can now work from home each day without having to drive anywhere?
Would you not consider that a significant greenhouse gas reduction?

My 'SUV' gets 35+ mpg on the highway and 28 mpg overall. It does as well as the 2009 focus I owned.
But I don't live in a 'rich area'. Or do I?

Start with the convoy in Poland with SUVs running a mile or more long to haul the sawdust brain Biden around. The parade just went on and on it made me wonder how much fuel was burned to haul that Convoy around? Next time just send the teleprompter for people or press to read that's all the Vegetable in Chief does. On that note there is a remedy for that kind of vandalism, so the green crazies better think twice about their stupidity.

Seems deflating tires would have the opposite effect on the environment. The engine would have to work harder to move the vehicle creating even more pollution.

Their policies mirror those of the US government; punish people who drive, harm the automotive industry, and force people into coal-powered battery cars. Shouldn't they receive federal funding? FTA: "The group said climate change was the 'biggest crisis we’ve faced as a species, and we are failing the test at every step,' adding: 'it’s time for us to carefully escalate our methods in a non-violent manner to convey the seriousness of this crisis in tangible ways.' They argued that targeting SUVs – which they said were playing a big role in carbon emissions – was a good way to 'hurt the automotive industry where it hurts.'"

Had a friend that caught a perp laying across his drivers seat stealing his radio/dvd player...I asked him what he did, assuming since he was a huge arms owner I wanted to know. The answer was pretty amazing. He said, I thought about it a few seconds then I slammed the door on his legs...with a vengence.
Of course one got broke, the other was really skinned up. When the Cops arrived a half hour later (typical, they were busy writing traffic tickets), the perp was on the ground moaning and cursing. The cops asked what happened, my friend said, he found the guy on the ground and it appeared the wind slammed the car door on his legs while he was stealing my radio/dvd. Cops grinned and took the perp into custody...he got prison time. If it would have been me I'd have made sure he could never steal again...in Texas we have the Castle Laws, if we see someone stealing anything on our property they become a target, period...and that includes damaging our property like doing things to our SUV's!

Given how costly tires are to replace right now, I kind of like #1's suggestion. Rather amazing that they don't acknowledge that they are responsible for more environmental disasters with their idiotic ideas than any of us normal folks ever have been.

Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson. Destroying something that still has value is a negative to the economy. And the economy is built on energy. Every commodity is priced mostly according to the energy consumed to bring it to market. So hundreds of new tires will have to be made from rubber and other materials. The whole process uses energy and adds to pollution. Therefore the protestors are needlessly polluting the environment.
