Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s strict COVID-19 response over the past two years drew considerable resistance from the public at times, but he found a behind-the-scenes ally in Cardinal Blase Cupich, text messages between the two leaders show.
Pritzker and Cupich were in frequent contact, according to newly obtained records that show they texted and emailed each other repeatedly from early 2020 into this year.(Snip) Cupich’s good relationship with Pritzker — as well as with other powerful Democratic politicians in Illinois — stands in contrast to how his predecessor, the late Cardinal Francis George, interacted with politicians.

In close contact with Cupich? Hmmm. Just curious what that means, that's all. I have my suspicions....

It was evident that they were in contact. Cupich did everything that a guy who doesn't know anything himself, told him. I don't expect anything different from a Democrat politician trying to play with the big boys. Newsom closed California, Cuomo was next and Fred Flintstone of Illinois, became number three. Pathetic.
I did expect more from Church officials. Allowing the government to close churches? Hundreds have been martyred over centuries for defying decrees from kings and dictators. The brave priests and people of the old Soviet Union kept their Faith alive hiding and holding services in homes. Of course everything comes down from the top and with our current Pope declaring that "vaccine's" tainted by abortion were not only okay to receive, it was your duty to do so. I never understood how "a little element of abortion" could be over looked. Cupich then ordered that ALL diocesan employee's including priests be vaccinated, and that pastors were FORBIDDEN from writing letters for parishioner's who wanted a religious exemption.
It's hard for me, after 12 years of Catholic school, to witness a Pope and many of his bishops who have no understanding that being true to the Faith and with prayer, God would intervene in a way that the pandemic might end sooner.
After all He sent us Hydroxychloroquine, Zinc and Zpacks in the beginning, and Ivermectin along the way.

Pritzker and Cupich are two of a kind, and not in a good way.

#3, like you I am Catholic. What we are seeing is the damage that the Vatican II did to the Church. Seminaries are empty, priests are scarce, the Lavender Mafia in the Vatican, the new mass giving the back to the consecrated Hosts, the nuns are non existent and abandoned the two things they did well: education and hospitals. Look at the impostor they installed as a pope. Bergoglio is a Jesuit. His allegiance is first to the Superior General of the Society of Jesus - the Black Pope. I can go on but you get the picture.

First, they let the pols close the churches, then they wouldn't allow singing, then they required masks. They still refuse to serve the blood of Christ at Communion.
Do these "holy men" not believe in God? No one has ever gotten sick from drinking Christ's blood, yet they will not serve it.
In Ontario, a pastor went to jail rather than stop holding services. Not in the Catholic Church!

Decades back, Saul Alinsky wormed his way into the Catholic church and it bought the poison he sold. A toxic mix of do-goodism and oppressors, simple minded but oh so palatable to those wanting to believe. So yeah, Gov. Prickster follows the well worn path laid by his fellow traveler.

Cupich is a leftwing POS and exhibit A for what’s ailing the Catholic Church. Cupich is the natural ally of the Abortion Party

The American bishops are more concerned with keeping the liberal politicians happy than they are leading the faithful.

Cradle Catholic here. Baptized, confirmed, married in the RC church. Catholic grammar schools in Chicago from kindergarten through eighth grade, and 13 years at Jesuit ( when they were still Catholic) high school, undergraduate, and graduate schools. I got fed up and was accepted into the Reformed Episcopal Church, which is NOT part of the lunatic asylum known as the regular Episcopal Church, last June. I have no regrets.
