President Joe Biden's response to the Russia-Ukraine war has boosted his popularity, yet pollsters warn that the reprieve may be brief before November's midterm elections.
The bloody conflict between Russia and Ukraine, half a world away, has created "a short-term bottom" for public opinion of Biden, according to Suffolk University pollster David Paleologos.
"Prior to the State of the Union address, approval ratings in the high 30s were a regular occurrence," the Suffolk University Political Research Center director told the Washington Examiner. Russia will hold a major nuclear exercise involving wide-ranging missile drills tomorrow including around Crimea and the Black Sea that will include launching ballistic and cruise missiles, the Kremlin has announced.

On Sunday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” former National Security Council Senior Director Fiona Hill insisted former President Donald Trump, despite being out of office for more than a year, played a role in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine.
Hill argued that Trump’s request for a “personal favor” set the wheels in motion for the invasion.
“[I] think there’s just the one point that sums everything up that you yourself touched on is that President Trump at a pretty critical period, withheld military assistance to Ukraine that was desperate for it at that particular junction, basically to get Volodymyr Zelensky to do him a personal favor,” Hill said.
On Monday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) argued that in order to undermine Russia’s power, we have to “end our dependence on oil and have the world transition to renewable energy.” Because Russia will be able to sell oil as long as there’s demand for oil, and called for a “climate emergency.”
