I'd love to see the thief's face when he excitedly opened the box expected some goodies and a bunch of human heads are starting at him.

This reminds me of a story reported in the Denver media quite some time ago about a refrigerated semi truck and trailer that was stolen. The crooks thought the trailer was filled with frozen beef. When the cops pulled the truck over on I70, they asked the crook driver for the shipping manifest. Having provided it to the police officer, he burst out laughing and informed the driver that he just stole 1,500 frozen beef rectums. You can't make this up.

A restaurant in France seeks to clear its name after fielding confusion surrounding poutine, its signature dish — fries doused with cheese curds and gravy — and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leader who announced an invasion into Ukraine just over a week ago. La Maison de la Poutine, or The House of Poutine, tweeted on Friday that it received "calls of insults and even threats" over its namesake dish. "It, therefore, seems necessary for us to recall that La Maison de la Poutine is unrelated to the Russian regime and its leader," the tweet read. It featured the restaurant's logo, a

The national average price for gas has topped $4 a gallon for the first time in over a decade as gas costs continue to soar in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. As of Sunday afternoon, the national average of a regular gallon of gas was $4.009, according to AAA. That's up 8 cents from Saturday and up 40 cents from last week. The U.S. hit the $4 national average a day earlier than analysts expected. The record high for the national average is $4.11, set on July 17, 2008, according to AAA. Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Selma, Alabama, on Sunday, where she will walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge to mark the 57th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, a key moment in the civil rights moment. Bloody Sunday commemorates when, in 1965, 600 people began a march from Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery, Alabama, demanding an end to discrimination in voter registration. At the Edmund Pettus Bridge, state and local lawmen attacked the marchers with billy clubs and tear gas, driving them back to Selma. Seventeen people were hospitalized and dozens were more injured by police. The vice president will also

Mainland America doesn’t rely heavily

Hawaiians, more than residents of any other state, will likely see higher gasoline and energy costs due to Russia's Ukraine war and the resulting soaring oil prices. “Isolated by the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii is the most petroleum-dependent U.S. state,” notes the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Overall, the U.S. consumes very little Russian oil. In 2021, oil from that country represented just 3% percent of total U.S. crude imports and just 1% of the oil processed by U.S. refineries, according to the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) trade association. But Hawaii is an anomaly among U.S. states. It imports several

In an attempt to stop using a name that some deemed derogatory, the ‘gypsy moth’ is no more and officials have determined a new name for the insect. The Entomological Society of America (ESA) announced that the new name has been selected for the moth species Lymantria dispar. It was voted unanimously to approve the addition of ‘spongy moth’ to ESA’s common names of insects and related organisms list. This completes a process that reportedly started back in July 2021. ‘Gypsy moth’ was removed from the list because officials determined that it was a derogatory term for the Romani people.

Oil prices are spiraling higher on supply concerns as the Russia-Ukraine crisis develops, and this could lead to demand destruction and an economic recession, according to an oil analyst. "I'm concerned that we don't have enough oil at all here, and we need to go to $120 to $150 [per barrel], and then we get into economic destruction," said Paul Sankey of Sankey Research. The firm sees oil trading between $100 and $150 per barrel until the situation in Ukraine is resolved, according to a research note. International benchmark Brent crude futures jumped 3.24% to $116.59 per barrel, after earlier

But in March 2020, I was one of the leading voices urging schools to close. The White House on Sunday rejected the argument that increasing domestic oil production would help lower gas prices, as the cost of oil moves toward record highs. Crude oil prices rose as high as $130.50 a barrel on Sunday evening. White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of talking points on social media, arguing against a focus on boosting oil production in the United States. “It’s a reminder that real energy security comes from reducing our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, noting that Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine was causing a spike in oil prices. Psaki pushed back against Republicans calling for more domestic oil production.

Vice President Kamala Harris and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Monday pushed a transition to green energy and electric cars as Americans face record high prices at the pump. As gas costs soar and more workers are returning to the office as covid numbers fall, President Joe Biden's administration announced a $3.7 billion boost for public transportation, including an investment in new fleets of electric buses.
