Two months after their lives were upended by a wildfire that took everything they owned, hundreds of Louisville residents unloaded on a City Council that they say is taking all they have left — the hope of rebuilding. “Just let us f-ing go home,” said Barba Hickman, a Marshall Fire victim who lost her home. Comments:

Strict 'green' building codes are difficult to adhere to, and will add up to $100K to the price of rebuilding each home.

Sadly, Louisville residents, the chickens have come home to roost. The solution? Have the city council approve a measure that grandfathers the re-construction of these homes under the old building codes.

“ Louisville is the first and only city in the state to require homes be built with net zero greenhouse gas emissions …….” The entire US only accounts for 15% of the world’s green house gas emissions, so what benefit is there of this local requirement for a handful of homes? Just more evidence that elections have consequences, whether national, state or for city council. And more proof that the Democrats who pass these delusional yet incredibly expensive regulations lack both intelligence and hearts.

Its call the Louisville Debuild back better plan. Its the best way to reduce green house emission. Just make it too expensive to build anything. Soon a housing shortage will drive up the prices cause even more people to leave. And in a decade or so, Louisville will look like a smaller version of Detroit. Totally abandoned. And zero green house emission. Gotta love liberal solutions to nonexistent problems.

Well, if these council members are really sincere in their beliefs and only want homes with net zero greenhouse gas emissions to be built, they need to tear down their homes and rebuild using the same exact zoning codes they want these people to use. New rules, don't impose restrictions on other people you won't impose on yourselves.

There is a log cabin on some acreage our family has in southern Illinois. The cabin has been there for well over 150 years, and probably just sitting there for the last 100 years. It will still be there long after these "Green Building Codes" and the structures built under them are long gone. Define sustainable in this case. I will wait.

Unincorporated Boulder County is just as bad. #5 it won't look like Detroit. These regulations will drive out the middle class and make rebuilding more expensive. Out-of-state people will come in flush with cash and buy up properties. Detroit? No. It will be more like Palo Alto.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has caused confusion with her reaction to a moment during President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech on Tuesday. Biden was speaking about the dangers soldiers faced in Afghanistan and Iraq when Pelosi's response to this topic sparked debate on social media. Russia has launched a third wave of terrifying nighttime missile strikes on Ukraine. Shells rained down across the Eastern European country following the third day of all out war with Russia. The sky above the city glowed an ominous orange as loud bangs rang out from the blasts, thought to have been from Russian ballistic missiles. It is unclear where the explosions took place, although it is thought to be to the South West of the city. And The Kyiv Independent reports an oil depot had been blown up at Vasylkiv, around 40km West of Kyiv. Vasylkiv mayor Natalia Balasynovych

Rising inflation, a continuing pandemic, a foreign policy misstep in Afghanistan and Democratic infighting all marred President Biden's first year, and now a majority of respondents to a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll say his first year was a "failure." In all, 56% said Biden's first year in office was a failure, versus just 39% who said it was a success. What's more, 54% said he's not fulfilling his campaign promises, and 52% said he has done more to divide the country than unite it, despite uniting the country being a pillar of Biden's 2020 presidential run. The president

The union said in a statement Friday that given the unprecedented crisis in Ukraine, the inclusion of a Russian entry would bring the competition into “disrepute.″ “The EBU is an apolitical member organisation of broadcasters committed to upholding the values of public service,” the union said on Twitter. “We remain dedicated to protecting the values of a cultural competition which promotes international exchange and understanding, brings audiences together, celebrates diversity through music and unites Europe on one stage.” This

BRUSSELS — A new front line of conflict is taking shape in Europe, with enhanced levels of risk that raise questions about whether NATO will, or even can, respond effectively. Having invaded Ukraine and deployed its troops in a compliant Belarus, Russia has suddenly extended its military power to the borders of several NATO countries, including the Baltic nations. If Russia succeeds in taking over Ukraine and keeping bases in Belarus, as many experts now expect, its forces will extend from the borders of the Baltics and Poland to Slovakia, Hungary and northern Romania, making it significantly harder for NATO to

Russian forces invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea on Thursday, confirming the worst fears of the West with the biggest attack by one state against another in Europe since World War Two. WASHINGTON -- The Biden administration is delaying decisions on new oil and gas drilling on federal land and other energy-related actions after a federal court blocked the way officials were calculating the real-world costs of climate change. The administration said in a legal filing that a Feb. 11 ruling by a Louisiana federal judge will affect dozens of rules by at least four federal agencies. Among the immediate effects is an indefinite delay in planned oil and gas lease sales on public lands in a half-dozen states in the West, including Wyoming, Montana and Utah. The ruling also will delay plans

President Biden will promote a new “988” crisis hotline and outline funding to combat the harmful effects of social media when he devotes a portion of his State of the Union Address to the “unprecedented mental health crisis” in the country, the White House said. The three-digit hotline is available in some parts of the country, but a July launch will make it available nationwide as part of an interconnected network of local crisis centers that can respond to calls and texts. Mr. Biden plans to propose nearly $700 million in funding in his fiscal 2023 budget to “staff up and shore up” local crisis centers.

Joe Biden’s State of the Union lingered far too long, but the general theme was made clear within the first 30 minutes: This is a man with no accomplishments and he knows it. Honestly, even as a conservative, I expected more. Biden’s speech was badly written, devoid of memorable moments, and came across as a rehash of everything he’s been saying for the last two years. The applause lines felt painfully manufactured, and the president often stumbled over his words — and that’s when he wasn’t coughing. The first part of the speech focused on Ukraine in an obvious attempt to soften the audience with a topic most agree on.

What do you attribute to that? … The decline in the President’s polls—even on COVID, on how he’s handled it—what can you do to turn this around?” “Well, I think tonight’s gonna be very important,” Pelosi began, in reference to Biden’s forthcoming State of the Union Dumpster Fire.
