A restaurant in France seeks to clear its name after fielding confusion surrounding poutine, its signature dish — fries doused with cheese curds and gravy — and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leader who announced an invasion into Ukraine just over a week ago. La Maison de la Poutine, or The House of Poutine, tweeted on Friday that it received "calls of insults and even threats" over its namesake dish. "It, therefore, seems necessary for us to recall that La Maison de la Poutine is unrelated to the Russian regime and its leader," the tweet read. It featured the restaurant's logo, a

Yes, we are this ignorant in the states as well. Our sheep are still blindly believing everything the media, Biden, Soros, etc. tells them they should believe... as if they have never lied to us before. Sad... and dangerously stupid.

That is sad that people do not bother to google it. I love that dish and it is very hard to find where I live. I first saw it on Top Chef Canada years ago.

Poutine is not a French dish. It is from Canada and when I lived there in the ‘90’s it was hard to find. It was considered kind of a tasty joke as it was the apex of unhealthy. Also, Putin means “turkey” in German. Think about that at Thanksgiving.

This reminds me of the guy working in the Washington, D.C. city government - a black guy, as it happens - who was forced to resign because, in a meeting with other city employees, he used the word “niggardly” and was immediately accused of racism.

How come the majority must rollover for the stupid? There are countless instances of words being "cancelled" because some ignoramus was offended. Teachers have been fired for using perfectly acceptable terms. I heard this morning that The Russian Tea Room has come under fire in NYC. It's been there 100 years and now it offends. How much do you want to bet that they force the restaurant's to close and they crush anyone who ever worked there?

Gold futures jumped above $2,000 an ounce on Tuesday, extending its rise toward record-high levels, as the war in Ukraine fueled bids for safe haven assets like bullion. April gold rose $69.50, or 3.5%, to $2,065.40 an ounce, following a 1.5% advance on Monday, which has put bullion at around the highest level in about nearly 19 months, hitting a Tuesday peak at $2,070.40. “The rally in gold has been accelerating since the Russia/Ukraine tensions began

While there are alternatives to Russian oil, they would be insufficient or difficult logistically if the U.S. and its allies were to ban Russian energy imports, analysts said Tuesday. “There’s just no way even OPEC+ and even combined Iran and Venezuela could make up for it,” Vandana Hari, founder of energy intelligence firm Vanda Insights, told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia.” Russia’s war in Ukraine shows no sign of abating as the U.S. and its allies weigh banning Russian oil and natural gas imports. Oil prices spiked to highs not seen since 2008, though later pared those gains. There was also

Hawaiians, more than residents of any other state, will likely see higher gasoline and energy costs due to Russia's Ukraine war and the resulting soaring oil prices. “Isolated by the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii is the most petroleum-dependent U.S. state,” notes the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Overall, the U.S. consumes very little Russian oil. In 2021, oil from that country represented just 3% percent of total U.S. crude imports and just 1% of the oil processed by U.S. refineries, according to the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) trade association. Within MAGA circles, talk is turning increasingly to impeaching Joe Biden after the midterm elections—assuming, of course, the Republicans retake the House of Representatives (which appears likely). Unfortunately, actual removal would require 60 votes in the Senate. Even under the most favorable scenario, it’s unlikely the GOP will pick up more than four Senate seats.  Nonetheless, with the strong likelihood the Republicans will take control of the House, impeaching Biden looks viable. Why? Well, for the same reason a Democrat-controlled House impeached Donald Trump—twice.  The Democrats used the impeachment process to persuade millions of middle-of-the-road and independent voters that Trump had done something terribly wrong. Of course, the Democrats’ two impeachment efforts were frivolous
