Can journalism still be an honorable field?

What do Russian collusion, Hunter Biden's laptop, and Covid-19 vaccine mandates all have in common? They are all misinformation spread by the American propaganda media. The very young often fantasize that they will perform some great accomplishment that benefits humankind when they get older. A field that offers that kind of personal reward is journalism, having over 6,500 individuals employed in the United States. Many enter journalism knowing that the financial rewards may not be as attractive as other vocations, but the impact on society can be significant.

Not as long as journalists betray their humanity. It is NOT important whether a journalist favors a liberal or conservative bent, We all have some personal tendency towards one viewpoint or another. It is how we ALL see the world. Since only God clearly sees both sides of every question, as long as a writer acknowledges personal limitations and faces up squarely to their own inherent bias, then there is hope. It is when arrogance supersedes honest reflection and deludes a journalist into believing they have a lock on truth that they violate not just journalism ethical standards but forget that lying is the same as hiding the truth and that Hell is not simply a state of mind but rather an actual destination where they may be trapped forever.

I think little to no honorable journalism is done by the legacy media. There may be some honor in the journalism done elsewhere, but the media in the USA don't realize that those internet sites are actually doing real journalism.

Journalism is not a profession, has no professional standards, or enforcement. Anyone can call themselves a journalist. Journalism has been replaced with propaganda, emotion, and feelings replacing objective fact gathering and reporting.

Journalism is dead. It has been replaced with propagandists. That is what rises to the top in today's journalism. They all have an angle they are playing. They all lie. They cannot be trusted. They should not be watched or followed.

Actually, #12, journalists have a code of ethics promulgated by the Society of Professional Journalists (Sigma Delta Chi). The code's first principle is, "Ethical journalism should be accurate and fair. Journalists should be honest and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information." Now, that's a laugh, whether watching local news or reading the NYT/WAPO or other media. Over 100 years ago, William Randoph Hearst built an empire using sensationalism, "yellow journalism". Newspapers are today a dying breed. Television needs visuals and hyperbole to draw eyeballs. The 'Net publishers need even more to draw attention to themselves. And so we have what we have. Did you know you can lease eight television sub-channels from a Dallas station for $25,000 a month? Imagine what some media "mogul" could do with that? #5 market in the USA. And where are those complaining about "liberal media" with their checkbooks? That's chump change. Perhaps a GoFundMe appeal...

Journalism never was honorable, well over 100 years ago the phrase "yellow journalism" was coined and it wasn't a compliment. Hearst and Pulitzer were successful at selling sleaze and lies, same is true of the journalists who have followed.

It’s one of the most awkward twenty seconds ever captured on video in a disastrous administration that lurches from one awkward moment to another: when asked “Do you think you may have underestimated Putin?,” Old Joe Biden first continued to stare in the general direction of the question, a slight smirk on his face, expression absolutely unchanged from what it had been before the question was asked. A few seconds later he turned his head to face the camera and, after a few more seconds, grinned sardonically. A few seconds later, he began picking his teeth with his thumbnail, and then grins

Canada is leaving the Western world. In terms of all-encompassing government, suppression of dissent and the denial of fundamental human rights to many of its citizens, Canada is now more similar to Cuba than to any free country. Canada may eventually return to Western civilization, but as of this writing, the majority of Canadians appear to have no interest in it doing so. According to Maru Public Opinion, "two-thirds (66%) of Canadians support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bringing in the Emergencies Act ... A majority (56%) of Canadians do not support the truckers who are protesting in any way, shape, or form.

A photograph came across my screen today that perfectly encapsulates what’s wrong with modern, traditional education. (I use the word “traditional” as a contrast to Montessori or Waldorf schools.) In it, we see that a child gave a correct answer to an ambiguous question, only to be told his answer was wrong because the teacher was unable to see beyond the confines of her answer book. Things like this turn students into the kind of mindless drones who think as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does.

The blockades by Canadian truckers that had completely shut down the U.S.-Canada border crossing at Detroit have been cleared by reopening the Ambassador Bridge, and as of Friday, Ottawa police have begun moving against truckers occupying central Ottawa. Despite these actions on the part of the Canadian government, the truckers comprising the “Freedom Convoy” hold their ground in defiance of threats of a police crackdown as they continue to disrupt other trade routes and cities, occupying the country’s capital for a third week. The members of the Freedom Convoy appear unyielding despite days of warnings from police and the government -- risking arrest and having their rigs seized and bank accounts frozen.

Justin Trudeau has ordered the seizure of all assets, the freezing of bank accounts, and the cancelation of credit cards for all persons identified by the government to be either directly or indirectly participating in, or supporting, the truckers who are protesting his vaccine mandate. In short, those Canadians exercising their right to assemble and speak freely in opposition to their government's policies will no longer be allowed to even buy food, pay rent, or otherwise provide for their families. And all this is in addition to their being arrested and forfeiting their trucks to the Crown.

On February 9, 2022, Andrew W. Coy asked, “What’s the Deal with Mike Pence?” One thing is that former Vice President Pence was always a weak leader. While he was governor, Indiana passed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2015, which essentially clarified a federal law that Democrats overwhelmingly sponsored and President Clinton signed into law. Then-senator Barack Obama supported a similar state law in Illinois. Indiana’s version simply stated that, in civil cases, courts could consider religious burdens that the conflict caused. The law never said religion would trump any other right.
