'Immediate emergency situation is over':
PM Trudeau revokes Emergencies Act

Original Article

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the government will take steps to end the use of the Emergencies Act after it was invoked just over a week ago in response to the ongoing trucker convoy blockades and protests. Trudeau made the announcement alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Justice Minister David Lametti, Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino, and Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair.

Comments:

It should never have been enacted in the first place, but you wouldn't know that from any of our establishment republicans.

What the Breck Girl didn't understand was that for every action there is going to be a reaction. You start screwing with the banks and people are going to take their money out. There was a run on banks, even from corporations and foreign money. If he kept it up their banking system would have collapsed. That's why he stopped it. He's toast.

As an American, whose grandparents on both sides were Canadian, I don't follow the ins and outs of Canadian politics but I'd say it is time for a no confidence vote and a new government sans Trudeau. The new government really needs to review the bidding on the Emergency Powers Act and get rid of it completely. Those kind of powers in the hands of politicians invite abuse.

I recently wrote a column about why I believed Trump should not run in 2024. I was wrong. I allowed my distaste for Trump’s personality to override his virtues, which are considerable. Some people want Trump without his vices. I was among them -- until yesterday, when I watched and listened to Tom Klingenstein’s speech titled “Trump’s virtues.” It was masterful and shamed me that I did not make the distinction between Trump's character and his virtues, the former being deeply flawed, the latter being almost perfect. I need to man up in my defense of the former President's virtues.

Australian tabloids are reporting that Caitlyn Jenner, who is running to replace California Gov. Gavin Newsom in a recall election that's just two months away, has absconded from the Golden State in order to film "Celebrity Big Brother" in Australia. Jenner landed in Sydney earlier this week and will have to enter a mandatory two-week quarantine before being able to film. It is unclear how long filming will last, but with eight weeks to go until the recall election, missing even two weeks would normally seem like lost time.

Pravda Press – The difference between a New York Times reader and a Russian reading Pravda is that the Russian knows he is being lied to. Softball questions from the compliant media allowed Biden to read, without looking up, from pre-printed note cards. He chose reliable, liberal reporters (partisan activists) from a pre-selected list.     The worst question came from NPR’s pandering Yamiche Alcindor who attempted to explain away what is tracking to be the worst southern border migrant surge in 20 years because Biden is a moral and decent man.  Proving once again that the mainstream media is the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party.   CORRECTION*

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.   While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.

Arguably the biggest sensation to come out of the debacle of a town hall NBC had with President Trump was the so-called “nodding lady.” Positioned directly behind the President’s left shoulder for one of the most widely used camera angles, she was applauded by some and attacked by others for nodding her head and displaying thumbs up in agreement when the President answered many of the attack questions posed to him by Savannah Guthrie. But she wasn’t originally positioned there. Before the town hall began, a Caucasian lady was originally positioned there.

Top officials with the Hillary Clinton campaign re-engaged with the opposition researchers behind the Steele dossier just three weeks after Donald Trump’s inauguration, newly declassified congressional witness transcripts reveal, indicating her campaign’s participation in an ongoing and well-funded effort to undermine the president by casting him as a tool of the Kremlin. Clinton's campaign chair John Podesta testified that he met on Feb. 10, 2017, with Daniel Jones, a former aide to California Sen. Thomas has been a lecturer at the school since 2011, but has now been removed as faculty from its website. Dozens of former Republican and Democrat officials have teamed up with Andrew Yang to join a third party, the Forward Party, which will launch on Thursday, according to a Reuters report. The Forward Party announcement comes nearly one year after Yang announced his departure from the Democrat Party to develop a third party. Yang rose to prominence with his failed 2020 presidential run as a Democrat, where he promoted Universal Basic Income. The Forward Party will be co-chaired by Yang and former Republican New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman. The new party is an amalgamation of three political groups that find themselves disgruntled with America’s increasingly polarized political system.

U.S. officials today said they have little fear that China could attack Nancy Pelosi's plane if she flies to Taiwan as Beijing doubled down on their threat to take 'firm and strong measures' if the House speaker visits the island. If Pelosi does travel to Taiwan, which is still an uncertainty, the U.S. military would increase its movement of forces and assets in the Indo-Pacific region, officials said. The officials declined to provide details of their plans, but said that fighter jets, ships, surveillance assets and other military systems would likely be used to provide overlapping rings of protection for her flight to Taiwan

It would reduce deficits by $300 billion over that decade, the senators said, citing estimates from nonpartisan congressional tax and budget offices.

President Biden said the United States "is not in a recession," despite Thursday's GDP report, saying it is "no surprise that the economy is slowing down" amid inflation. The U.S. economy shrank in the spring for the second consecutive quarter, meeting the criteria for a recession as record-high inflation and higher interest rates forced consumers and businesses to pull back on spending. Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of goods and services produced across the economy, shrank by 0.9% on an annualized basis in the three-month period from April through June, the Commerce Department said in its first reading of
